Is anyone else STILL not complete? I know they sent that "don't contact us within 7-10 days" email, so I don't want to pester the office. Just wondering if anyone's in the same boat.

I also have a new thing on the status about whether my WI residency has been determined, even though I submitted that form when I submitted my MCW application in June.

Still in the boat with you...

Edit: Just became complete.

"Provide a chronological history of your life activities from the time you completed high school to the present, i.e. volunteer work, service work, research, participation in music, sports, etc., parenting, et al."

So, did anybody list "parenting" as an activity? I'm happy they recognize the time committment of parenting, but I haven't seen that on other applications, so I'm a bit thrown off! I get a family-friendly vibe from the school, I hope I'm correct!

They included it as an example, so I went ahead and listed it, though the "activity description" was phrased perhaps a bit less formally than the entries for clinical and work experiences. 😉

Ha, yeah, I have to find a way to describe "managing chaos and destruction" - I have an 18 month old boy 😀

Another $0.02 worth -

I am also a current M1 at UW and am LOVING it. I was so nervous about the people - and finding people that I can connect with - but it was incredibly easy. Everyone is so nice (faculty, doctors, students etc) and the professors are amazing. Unlike undergrad where it often seems like classes are trying to "weed people out", here at UW the professors really want you to succeed. In addition, UW values student feedback. For one of our classes, after every lecture we submit a form where we rate that lecture and how it can be improved.

Furthermore - (as others have already said) the city of Madison is beautiful and cheap, the campus is amazing (and it's a Big 10 school!), and grading is Pass/Fail the first year.

I am so so so happy I chose to go here. feel free to PM me if you have specific questions

Hey guys I just received this email. I was wondering if anyone else has received it as well. What do you guys think about it?

Dear Applicant: Thank you for your continuing interest in the Medical College of Wisconsin.

The committee has completed its review of your application. It has been moved to a pool of applicants who potentially will be invited to interview with us. That pool is still much larger than our interview schedule can accommodate. So, candidates are selected to receive an invitation by strength of credentials and completion date of application. If and when we get to your application in this process we will be happy to email you an invitation. Any further review of your application will occur only if you are interviewed.

Medical College of Wisconsin and University of Wisconsin are different. 🙂

Do we have to have all of our letter writers fill out another form?

I just had all my letters sent in through AMCAS... was their a waiver form associated with their serice?

Here is what the website says "Applicants must complete a waiver form relating to their right to review the letter of recommendation. Waiver forms provided by letter services may be used. A waiver form is available within our secondary application for use as needed and is a part of the Instructions for Writers of Recommendation Letters. See our Secondary Application"

and the form seems to ask for you and your letter writers signature.....although I could be wrong.

question about the activities folks...

did you include everything that you put on AMCAS, or did you try to choose the activities that were actually "activities" (ie not posters, academic honors, etc) ??

thanks for your input!

To write an in-area email or not to write one... that is the question (like wait a week or so and write one...).

What do you guys recommend?

Depends on when you will be there. Since there have been no interview invites sent out and won't be until the end of September, it would seem kinda strange.

Mid October... but I'll see if I can get it pushed back (deadline for work on Oct 15th)

I wouldn't bother, UW doesn't really do much with any type of communication from prospective students (letters of interest, letters of intent, etc) and doesn't usually like to hear from students pre-interview.

I just included activities, since they are used to create a bar graph and UW wants to see your level of involvement in ECs over time.

Got an interview invite today around 330 central time. It is on the 23 of sept. Anybody else have one for this day?

Congrats! I was under the impression that interview invites would not be sent out until late September for UW-Madison!

That is what their "complete" email said. And it mentioned interviews not starting until October. I also don't think there is an EDP at UW.

That was certainly the impression i was under as well. I am not doing early decision. But i did apply to WARM. I am not sure how much of a difference that makes. I know of one other person that has an invite but is OOS regular. Very quiet i was expecting more.

From the complete email:

"Interview invitations will be extended beginning in late September through February. Our interview dates begin in early October."

Weird.

interview invite this morning via email, interview on 9/23

There was a EDP as of the 2013 class, not sure if it's been d/ced. That's earlier than historical interviews, but I interviewed on 10/5 my year.

Interview invite this morning, for Sept. 23rd.

WI Resident
3.53/36S

good luck to those who received interviews 🙂

I'm gonna try to interview this year but we'll see how it goes... pretty busy these days haha

submitted 9/14
complete 9/15
OOS

dying to interview here and see Madison, I've heard nothing but incredible things :xf:

good luck to those of you with interviews next week!

Congrats with the II! For those of you with an II, did you choose to do the optional essay?

Definitely do the optional essay. I wrote ~300 words, talking about why I want to go there and how I'm a good fit.

Is anybody who's interviewing on Friday going to the little get-together the night before?

Also, is there any OOS kids interviewing? I wasn't sure if this was an IS only interview day.

Interview Invite this morning via email! I have to re-schedule the date, but very excited to hear back from my home school. Complete 08/26, Interview Invite 09/19.

Submitted 9/2. I got an interview for 9/30. Any suggestions for interviewing for the WARM program? I am nervous!

Well dang. My first real rejection of the cycle, post-marked September 16th and arrived this afternoon. OOS, for what it's worth, which was specifically noted in the nicely phrased letter.
Best of luck, folks. I've only been there in the summer, but Madison seems like a great town.

(Does this make me the first UWisc rejection on SDN this year?)

I got one today too from UWisconsin. Was considered OOS, but have close ties to the state since my entire family lives in Wisconsin and I lived there for 17 years. Oh well.

Good luck to everyone else.

Did you guys get small pooled before you got rejected?

Sorry to hear this! As a fellow northwestern i expect my rejection letter is making its way up the coast.

Although I feel a rejection coming shortly, I am trying to finalize my fall quarter schedule. Can anyone clarify what an "advanced biology" class is? I've taken Genetics, which is a 300 level class. I was going to take Molecular Bio, but the syllabus looks like it covers the exact same things. Also, I did call a UW advisor, just haven't heard back and am not sure when I will.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Examples are: Cell Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Immunology.... Really anything beyond general bio.

I just received a rejection in the mail today. 35R, 3.9, and OOS. I currently attend UW-Madison for my undergraduate studies; I thought that would help, but I was mistaken. The letter said they take a lot of WI residents. Good luck to everyone else!

Oh man, I thought being an alumnus would keep me safe... not looking forward to checking the mail today.

Another OOS to add to the rejection batch. Good luck to everyone on their search for a medical school! :luck:

Has anyone heard if they are receptive to "in the area" emails/calls? I have an interview in rochester MN oct. 7. Thought it couldnt hurt
