Did all the WL'ers just get an email from Ms. McCormick requesting updates?

I did. I think she was clarifying her previous email from this week that made it sound like all updates had to be sent hardcopy. Only official transcripts have to be sent hardcopy, everything else can go through email.

Yea, I don't think it was so much requesting updates, as lbox clarified.... of course I just snail mailed my update yesterday, though! UGH

what happened to those holes the adcom was supposed to fill?

Agreed. Anyone know if acceptances are mailed or called? Also I was told official transcripts only need to be mailed if you have been accepted, otherwise they can be unofficial. Can anyone agree to that?

Has anyone with an acceptance received a financial aid letter yet?

Nope. I got an e-mail about a scholarship opportunity, but no package. I also got the e-mail from Beth Ann about updates and transcripts.

Didn't they say we'd get our financial aid info in April?

Beth ann just emailed me and told me there are 250 applicants on the wait list.........

That's a hope killer right there. At my interview they told me that 75-80 people would be on the waitlist... makes me think they didn't reject anyone post interview?

Ya so correct me if my calculations are wrong but in 2010, 2762 OOS applied, 270 interviewed, 100 accepted and 44 enrolled. Assuming that this years numbers are somewhat similar, you just have to subtract accepted - enrolled to figure out the number of people taken from the waitlist which is 56. So approximately 50-60 out of the 250 on the wait list will probably get accepted which is about the top 20 % of the wait list. So in reality, about 200 people are kept on the wait list and then finally rejected. Now that just sucks.

wouldnt your math be wrong? if 270 are interviewed and out of that 100 accepted. That leaves 170 people who are either rejected or waitlisted am I right? if 44 of those enroll, depending on how many people they wont in the class (i believe 100) that would leave 56 spots for the waitlist. would that not come out of the 170?

but if 250 are on the waitlist this year, thats quite a bit....

What about those that withdraw from the waitlist?
You're right I didn't include that because Im not sure how many people withdraw from the WL after may 15th. But why would people withdraw from a school where they are wait listed? Thats def an unknown and I have no idea how much that will affect my calculations.

100 accepted = #enrolled for the initial class + # enrolled from the waitlist

Well so far...one. I got an acceptance in-state so tuition will be a lot cheaper than WVU OOS so I will be withdrawing my spot this week..just whenever I get around to it..

There's 2. Thanks for the update, y'all, and best of luck to both of you

Also, don -- how/what did you ask Beth in order for her to divulge that information. As we were told previously, no wait-list information specs are supposed to be given out whatsoever

I'm very surprised that she would give out that detailed of a response.

Who else is absolutely dying to get in? I have a graduate school acceptance as backup but I'm REALLY crossing my fingers for WVU.

I think that it's safe to say that most of us regulars to this thread are in that position 🙂

Exact same... It's nice to know I'll get a Masters during my year off but the thought of having to apply again and get all new LORs make me want to poke my eyes outtttt!

Oh my gosh THIS. Where are you doing your Master's at?

I'm a reapplicant. I kept all my LORs and only got one new one. If you think they are good, there is no reason you should change them all.

University of South Florida. I'm from FL and I believe it's the only one in the state that is one year instead of two.

Where is yours?

AMCAS doesn't save your LORs though, right? So you just asked your writers to upload it again? Even that seems like such a pain!

I think everything will be saved, except for the LORs. I just had my advisor reupload them since he still had them.

Oh haha I'm in NJ and mine is at NJMS. 1 year also and you get a degree out of it.

Oh do you come from a school that does a "committee letter"? We don't have that here so you have to go to each professor individually. Such a pain.

Hey!!! I really hope you guys get in. I know it is rough being neither accepted or rejected because I have been there but I believe that in the end you will be exactly where you need to be. I hope you guys don't have to reapply but in the event that you need to you can have your letter writers upload your letters on interfolio. You have to pay a small amount of money for them to keep your letters for a year or for longer. That way if you ever need your recommendations sent anywhere you will just have to initiate the mailing of the letters through interfolio. I used interfolio and it seems to be alright. Wishing you guys the best! Remember it is not over until it is finally over.

So two weeks to go... and the AMCAS application just opened up today... So hard to keep my hopes up!

received a call from beth ann today! ACCEPTED! 👍

LM - congratulations! Well-deserved, I am sure. I presume you were wait-listed and plan to attend?

Let us know if you received any information that could be helpful! Best of luck

PS - LM is In-state.

Ugh - I was just at the WVU HSC yesterday and I was so tempted not to go into the student services office and beg...

yes, i was waitlisted originally...i'm also in-state, so i definitely plan to attend...i didn't get much for information, but the good news is that maybe there will be some movement prior to may 15 after all -- best of luck to everyone! :xf:

Anyone else getting very anxious....?! I'm surprised there were no other acceptances we heard of besides LM last week

PS. Just called Beth to ask a quick question and also asked if she knew when the committee may be meeting again... She said "not until after the 15th". ....

Congratulations! 👍 And like Alice Cooper has said: "Welcome to my nightmare"

Great job, Knifeofice! Do you mind, guys, telling others a little bit more about the way you were accepted?

I am starting to look for housing and was wondering where do most medical students live? Is there an area that current students would recommend?

MD, it depends on whether you primary concern is being able to walk to school. If it is, than your choice will be somewhat limited; however, if you have a car and would not mind paying extra $300 every year for parking than Suncrest area has a lot of housing for rent.
