Some students (don't know exactly how many) live in medical school apartments, which are very very close to the school. But proximity is probably their 1st and only advantage. I personally think that med school is depressing enough to live in such a place.

Haha I think I'd have to agree with you on that one...definitely not trying to live directly on top of the school

Great job, Knifeofice! Do you mind, guys, telling others a little bit more about the way you were accepted?

Beth Ann called me and asked the question that I had heard she asked. "Are you accepted to med school yet?" and my answer was "No" and she replied with "Would you like to be?"

After that is a blur. For the definites that are going to WVU, please message me! I'd love to talk to you!

And guys, I've been shadowing a family physician in his practice the past couple of weeks. Every single doctor in there either got in during the summer, or they know someone that got in during the summer. THERE'S STILL LOTS OF TIME!

Well.......it is definitely not the best, but I've seen much worse. Unless you decide to live across the town, it should not take you that long. Many of my classmates commute, and I don't remember anyone complaining.

Ok, perfect. Thanks for the help!

No problem. If you happen to have any questions feel free to PM me.

Hey guys,

Congrats on your acceptances. I'm currently wrapping up my MS1 year at WVU and will need a roommate for next year. I live at the Villages at West Run, about a 3 min drive from the Health Sciences Center. Please send me an e-mail ([email protected]) if you're interested. I can also personally show you the place if you're available sometime in the next 3 weeks. Thanks!

Matt

CONGRATS to all that got in!!!!!!!!!!!!! This waiting has been SUPER STRESSFUL!!!!

Congrats Knife. Great to see another successful PSU'er!

ACCEPTED!!!!!!!

I'm definitely attending!! I just withdrew all of my other acceptances 🙂 🙂

That is great LadyRugger! Looks like you are very excited about WVU, and I support you in that. Despite that at times I like being sarcastic about a medical student's life, WVU is an awesome school, and Morgantown is a nice, safe and quite place to live. So I never regretted picking WVU over VCU.

I got the call today!

Thanks for all of you there were rooting for me 🙂 I'd actually already starting moving my things to my boyfriends apartment in Morgantown, so if I didn't get in that would have been bad news...

If there is anyone out there like me who already has acceptances to their state schools but wants WVU, make sure you call Beth Ann and let her know. I'd mentioned it in letters of intent, but apparently it went unknown so they assumed I wanted to stay in-state until I directly told her and she noted it in my file.

Congratulations to everyone who got the call! I am OOS and also got the call yesterday! Super excited 😍

For those who got the call, can you guys sum up what Beth Ann had to say about the paperwork? I kinda blanked out after she said that I was accepted and didn't really grasp much of what she said after (I was just waaaaaay to excited). I remember she said that she will be mailing an acceptance letter but she also said more which I don't remember anymore. Thanks for the help!

Bruin my 👍 to you! Don't worry, they are very well aware of how "attentive" people become after such news. For this reason you have not missed anything important. Just wait for your letter, fill out FAFSA for 2012-2013 (if you haven't done so already), make sure that you are up to date on immunizations, send you final official transcripts to the school. And finally the most important: don't forget to take your friends out and have a beer. 🙂

+1

I think she just said she will mail our acceptance package. Once we get that, we have to send a check for $100 to hold our seat (will go towards tuition). That gets sent to Charleston, I believe, so once she gets word we've paid we will get instructed to set up our SOLE account (the Blackboard of WVU). OOO and orientation starts August 6th! So I'll see you all then!!

Hokie has to get in too! I believe in you Hokie! The rest of the forum does too c:

Hey guys,

Once again, CONGRATS on getting in!!!! Did Ms. McCormick say anything about how long you have to accept the seat? Like 10-15 days?

Knife, LadyRugger, and Fortress - thank you! Haha .. Here's to hoping. Trying not to get too anxious or excited. If I get in, I'll post it here very soon after, for sure.

Congratulations to all of you. I know that you guys have been waiting anxiously and your acceptances are all well deserved

I'm guessing for all of us -- it was "we have a seat, do you want it?" and we all said YES! I know I did not have to think about my decision...

Also, I forgot to mention, but she'd mentioned after they figure out how many spots and such they have after May 15 -- the committee will be meeting to update the WL. She said an e-mail should be going out to those still on the WL early NEXT week.

Basically, if there is anyone at the very bottom whom they do not think has a chance of getting offered, they will let you know you should consider reapplying. I also think if others have an acceptance already they may either ask if you are interested in staying on the list OR say "you've been taken off the list, however, if you want to stay on, please let us know" (I know that happened last year).

Best of luck!

Congrats to those accepted!!!

I'm still on the WL and spoke to Ms. McCormick a few days ago. She told me something similar--the committee is still reviewing the WL to see who they will accept and a status update should go out next week.

Good luck to all still waiting!
One of our instructors has very nicely summarized the whole process in one sentence: "It is only 4 years of undergrad, 4 years of med school, 1 internship year, 4-5 years of residency, and you guys will be allowed to do rectal exams for the rest of your lives......."

I wonder if the update will be coming through email or snail mail...? Can't come soon enough!

Just to update... Mrs. McCormick said she is trying to get updates out to all waitlisters by the end of the month. Fingers crossed for end of next week!

Yepp spoke to her this morning and thats exactly what she said. Good luck to everyone!!!!

Yeah, I did. It seems pretty generic, like she sent it to everyone. I was under the assumption that there were going to be 2 types of e-mails sent out, one for those with a legitimate shot at an acceptance (nearer the top) to stay on it, and a notification of removal for those nearer the bottom.

Apparently not, I assume?

Agreed. I was kind of disappointed by it. Seems as if she had wrote it in a hurry just to get it out. I guess we just have to wait and see if anything changes in the next couple weeks.

Src, I am not sure what that means that you did not receive an e-mail.

The e-mail that I received (the same e-mail that those above received, I presume) just said that we are still on the waitlist and that we are therefore still being considered for an acceptance. The committee is still making decisions regarding the waitlist and we will thus remain on it "until further notice."

Very generic. Essentially no new information given out, on purpose I assume. Although I will say that Mrs. McCormick truly is a polite lady, especially when you consider how often she is probably being contacted by all of us.

Here's to hoping ..

Thanks Hokie. Yeah, I did get that. I thought there was another more specific one.

Hey everyone,

For those who have been accepted and are not in the facebook group, I am wrapping up my MS1 year and looking for a roommate for next year. I live at the Villages at West Run, which is just a 3 min drive to the Health Sciences Center. Please send me an e-mail if you're interested. [email protected]. Thanks!

i guess thats just part of being on the waitlist 🙁
i interviewed in late september and still waiting (OOS)

sorry ive been a long time lurker guys just never got to post anything on here

Im getting frustrated now........ 🙁

I know, I really wish the update could have been focused towards each of us individually to give us a better idea of where we stand. The only good thing was that the email said the committee is still meeting. Maybe another round of acceptances will go out?

Just out of curiosity.. for those on the WL who haven't been accepted anywhere, are you reapplying now or taking a year off?

Just want to give you guys an update. It was a really tough decision but I withdrew my acceptance early last week via snail mail. That's one more spot opened for an OOS. Good luck to all those still waiting!

Thanks bruin. I know I speak for everyone when I say that that means a lot. Best of luck to you!

I wanted to let all the OOS folks on the list know there is still some hope! I got in last week 27/3.91!!!!

Hey! So I have been out apartment hunting in Morgantown, and I really liked the District apartments. I am looking for two other roommates to lease a 3 bedroom apartment. PM me if you're interested!! So excited to meet everyone in August!
