Congrats!

Does anyone else find it mildly amusing that Myuu (and more recently myself) every year stresses that there is no pattern/relationship between acceptances and submission dates, yet it seems like people are dismissive and thoroughly surprised when we are proven right? don't get me wrong, I'm all for "not giving false hope" when appropriate. :shrug: good luck interviewers!

Oh, I believe you with part of my mind. But there is another, wilder part that is tired of waiting and grasps at straws.

Plus I've managed to cluster three other interviews in the midwest into a single trip, and it would be just lovely if I was able to fit Case in--but in order to do that, I would have to hear from them soon. So I refresh iApply a lot and scowl at the strangely asymmetric blank spaces.

You have the benefit of hindsight, which we do not. Every day could be the day we hear good news or bad. Forgive us if it makes us a little crazy.
 
For the college track, is there any advantages to attend the interview earlier? I looked at last year's tread, it seems that they won't send out decisions later in Dec.
 
Thank you. Waiting for your explanation. The school is my dream school, in one hand, I want to interiview earlier maybe to increase the chance, on the other hand, I want to be more prepared and have more interview experience before this one.
BTW, I already signed up for the interview for an earlier date, it is probably not good to reschedule without emergency reasons.

I think vc7777 misread your question. (Typical female. :meanie:) There is an advantage to APPLYING earlier, but not to INTERVIEWING earlier. The CCLCM class doesn't get filled until after all interviews are completed. So even if you interview in February on the very last interview day, you will still be interviewing for an open seat. There are plenty of us who interviewed near the end of the season and still got accepted immediately. That includes me-I was a late January interviewee and got accepted to both programs within a few weeks after my interviews.

My advice is to interview whenever is most convenient for you. If you want to change your interview date, that's fine, but do it early enough in advance so that someone else can sign up for your current interview slot. I'd say a week's notice is the minimum you should give, and at least two weeks notice is preferable. Congrats on your invite, and good luck!

I know it's frustrating, but unfortunately this whole year is going to be full of a lot of "hurry up and wait." Try to keep yourself occupied, and if you find that you're getting too crazy, take an SDN break. Seriously, it will be good for your sanity.

For the interviews, I think it's helpful to schedule the invites within driving distance earlier, and then go to the farther away interviews a littler later in the season. That will give you a chance to try to group trips. So, maybe schedule your Midwestern invites for late November or early December, and that way you should hear something back from Case well in advance of when you need to make travel plans. The other advantage to doing things this way is that if you get an early acceptance to one of your local schools, you can cancel all of the invites at farther away schools that you don't like as much, which will save you a bunch of money. One thing that I did when I was interviewing was send an email to the admissions office telling them that I was going to be in the area for another interview and that I was hoping to do both in the same trip. Sometimes they can offer you an interview sooner, but sometimes it just won't happen. I had the school offer me an interview the next day on one occasion and it saved me $300 by grouping them in the same trip.
The admissions office knows that you are applying to many places so they are often understanding of your desire to save money, but they can't always help. Just my thought.
 
Rejected at 3:20pm CST today, stats are in my MDApp. Guess I won't be seeing Cleveland this year.
 
Will med schools know if you were accepted to their undergrad institution but decided not to matriculate?
 
Hi everyone, I am interviewing next week for the university track and I have some important activity updates that I would like to be included in my file. I emailed the admissions office at [email protected] with a one page document of my updates. Was this the correct way to submit my updates?
 
Interview Invitation!! I'm very excited to get the opportunity to interview, this is one of my top choices along with northwestern and university of arizona phoenix. Stats are OOS, 34S, and 3.96, good luck to other applicants!!

This is sufficient, relax. If you update them too much - what will you have left to talk about at the interview? Just kidding. No worries. Also ,while I think you should update them if you are so inclined, this is not mandatory.

Not much, IMHO, will "impact" your application short of a Fulbright scholarship, publication as first author, or a recent felony conviction. :meanie:

So neither going from VP to Pres of the premed club nor losing a volunteer gig will impact your chances at Case. While you should strive to be open and honest in you application - don't fret too much. 🙂

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't banking on the updates making a difference, but they are very relevant and I plan to discuss my recent activities in my interviews, so I just wanted the interviewers to see them on my file and have a chance to prepare questions.

You didn't try to set fire to the quad or something, did you? If not, odds are good that they won't remember you in the slightest.

You can bring them up yourself during your interview if they're important to you. Most interviews (at all med schools, not just Case) end with the interviewer giving you some time to ask questions or mention anything else you think is important for them to know.

it seems like ppl who completed later than me are hearing responses.. hm
anyone on my boat?

Hm... Complete around 8/29 and also haven't heard anything (for CCLCM and UP). Are some people put on hold? If you are put on hold, do they let you know that, too?

Complete 8/14 and nothing yet from Case. Pretty sure this means rejections since this happened last time I applied as well.
 
Where are people staying when attending interviews? Close hotels seem kind of pricey. There are some cheaper ones close to the airport, but that looks far from the school. (Google maps says 20 min, but I don't know if that would be horrendously longer in rush hour traffic getting to the interview.)

Between air fare, car rentals, and hotels, I'm going to go broke before I even make it to med school. 😛

I'm new to this discussion but I got my interview invite for CP last week! I was complete 8/01 and I'm interviewing this Thursday 9/27. Anyone going to be there??

Definitely! Just haven't heard back yet, and I'm staying a week from tonight. A helpful coordinator has already contacted me, but I want to book a back-up in case they can't find someone.

If I do book farther out, could you estimate the time spent in traffic on a Monday morning (to arrive at Case by 8)? Wondering if it's worth it, or if I should just suck it up and pay. :laugh:

I know it's stressful, but the current students keep reassuring applicants that order doesn't matter....
 
The CP interview, today, was awesome. Learned a lot. Blown away by the facilities. Awesome and friendly staff. Would die to go here. (well, maybe not die haha)
 
International student here with an interview invite. The emotion I am feeling is ineffable.

Unfortunately, I am not able to spend any time in the surrounding area while I am around for interviews. Are there any fun places some of you might recommend I check out the night before my interview? Any cool restaurants or parts of the city?

I LOOOOOOVED CASE! The curriculum is amazing (class from 8-noon), their problem-based learning/small groups I think will be a much more effective way of learning as opposed to sitting thru hours of lecture. Plus, the deans were so incredibly nice and funny, and everyone I interacted with (both the students and the interviewees) were friendly and seemed normal, phew. And Case is the only med school in the area, so aparently the students have great access to rotation spots and any type of research/organization/shadowing/etc they wanna get involved with!

Basically I fell in love with this school.

i'm from the area, and it really depends on if you have a car or not. there are really cool places around case, but they'll be hard to get to if you don't have a car. They're right at that limit where it'd be an annoying walk (1-2 miles), but a super easy car ride (4 minutes).

Little Italy is by Case. Awesome ethnic district. You might also see the occasional ferrari (no joke). They had a ferrari owner's convention there during the summer, and I got to see about 30 ferrari's from 1960-Present.

Downtown has lots of stuff on East 4th Street (restaurants). Pricey food (~25 bucks/dish), but amazing environment. They also have a comedy club called the Hilarities 4th street theater. Awesome place.

I am SO excited for mine!

When do you fly in? I am going to geek out and hit the A Christmas Story house the afternoon before. Love that movie. :laugh:
 
Does anyone know how early we can expect to hear back from case if we have interviewed already? Oct 15th?
