Did you already interview?
For those who haven't interviewed, are all the spaces on your status page still blank?
Mine doesnt even say "reviewed" "under review" "hold" etc... nothing.

Does this mean I'm silently rejected? That they haven't seen my app yet?
I was complete 8/14

Nope, no interview. You must be in the clear for now.

I was complete a few days before you and am in the same boat. I wonder what it means!

From admissions:
"This is normal. Once your application was marked as complete is was
placed into our queue to be reviewed. You'll be hearing a decision in the
next couple of weeks."

Which is weird bc people with "complete" dates later than mine have been rejected. Yet it sounds like mine still hasn't been reviewed? I guess the queue isn't in order of complete date.

at the risk of getting booted from the case thread.... what is pho? (i mean I can google it, but what's the appeal? and if it saves me at all I do genuinely like eggplant, which no one seems to mention anymore ...which means I really need to apply already as I've spent too many years stalking this thread 😛 )

pho is a vietnamese noodle-y soup

Your knowledge of Case eggplant lore is the only thing that has saved you from being boycotted by the entire Case medical school for not knowing what pho is. As the person above me said, it's a Vietnamese soup with noodles, meat, and some kind of leafy green stuff that I have no idea what it is.

Superior Pho is the restaurant where we all like to go. If anyone who is visiting Cleveland wants to try pho or other Vietnamese food, check it out.

No one has asked about this so far, but since we're talking about food, here are some other ethnic restaurants that I liked to go to when I lived in Cleveland:
Indian: Udupi cafe (south Indian veg, nice and spicy)
Korean: Seoul Hot Pot (try the bibimbap)
Japanese: Pacific East (in Coventry, which is a fun place to visit anyway. I have to warn you that this place is a little pricy, but if you don't mind splurging a bit, it's worth the money.)
Ethiopian: Empress Tayitu (surprisingly good, worth trying if you've never had Ethiopian)

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but probably current students can add to this list.

I think admissions take a quick look (whatever that entails) in the order the apps are received. They invite someone quickly if they like something a lot on an app, likewise, they can also reject someone quickly if they don't think it's a good fit. I guess that leaves those of us who are "kinda in the middle" for more thorough deliberation and review, which means, of course bad for us, LONGER and more SDN waiting hell.

Is it too late to send in my secondary this weekend? Ie. Are my chances of interview and admissions drastically reduced compared to applicants who submitted their secondaries 1-2 months ago? My profile is slightly below the matriculant average for both Case and CCLCM.

I'd really appreciate any comments - thanks.

Just bought a flight out to Cleveland!! Very excited to interview here on the 13th of November. Does anyone know how long it takes for the student hosts to get back to you?

If you haven't heard when it's getting close, just email the group contact on the student hosting page. (I did that when I hadn't heard one week out.) They got right on it.

Great school and area - have fun and good luck!

It can take a while, and depends entirely on their schedule. For me it took ~1 week and it got pretty close to my interview date

The leafy green stuff is usually Thai basil. At some places they give you both Thai basil and cilantro. And the amazingly delicious, exotic flavor of the broth comes from the addition of star anise and cinnamon.

I love pho.

I interviewed here on the 19th. I absolutely loved this school. Would be more than happy to go here. Both interviews were really relaxed and conversational. My faculty interviewer even told me before starting something like: "as long as you don't botch the interview, you have a great shot of getting in here."

Obviously he doesn't make the decisions, but it still made me more confident during the interview 🙂.

Can any of the current students comment on if they know any students who have dogs or cats?
Thanks

Hey! Would anyone be able to post how we are supposed to submit updates to each of the programs? I remember copy/pasting it onto my One Note med school file but recently reformatted and for now can't access it. I remember each of the programs having their own paragraphs, I think?

Thanks in advance!!

Interview complete! Now to wait... Does anybody have a sense of the committee turnaround time? Also, if any current students have more details about the scholarship application process, I am curious to know about it. The financial aid presentation was fairly light on information about merit-based aid.

Pacific East is not too bad if you get their lunch deals - yay Thursdays and Saturdays. 😛

I doubt anyone can give you anything quantitative. Your chances are probably not as good as they would be early, but at least for CCLCM acceptances are given in a semi-rolling basis so that later applications still have decent chances. As long as you're still interested, I'd probably just give it a shot.

I could have sworn they said about 3 weeks, but I interviewed and 10/2 and had my decision (hold 🙁) on 10/16.

Committee meets next on 10/29. Not sure if you'll be included in that meeting. Otherwise, it will be 2 weeks after that since they meet every other Monday. They then release decisions by email (I believe) the next day. So nervous to hear back. I LOVED Case... :scared:

Yeah I wish I knew more about the merit-based aid. I don't think I have the numbers to get anything from Case, since their average is 3.76/35 for UP, but it'd still be nice to know. But by the sound of the presentation their scholarships are few and far between :/

Rejected pre-interview. Good luck to everyone else!

From Twitter: "Monday's Admissions Committee Mtg. will review applicants from October 12, 15, 16, 19, 22 and 23."

Anyone else getting their decision next week?!?! AHHHHHH :scared:/😱/😍/:xf:

Case is rolling right? Does that mean that people who interview late is at disadvantage?
Also is anyone willing to share any insight on interviews? especially those who got accepted? Is it 2 interviewers? how did you prepare? thanks =]

Rejected pre-interview from CCLM 🙁 and not a peep from the University track. Complete since 8/30. Do they accept update letters from people who haven't been interviewed?

I'm in that group of interview days... gahhh nerve wracking! Loved this place so much. I wonder, though, if they're just reviewing some from those days and maybe not all... I guess we'll see!

Complete since 8/10 and still not a peep from either program... Anyone else in the same/similar boat? I haven't been monitoring this thread all that closely as I know its a major reach for me.

I suggest using the contacts list on the iApply page. The current Case students are very informative and willing to help. Good luck!

You will have 2 interviews. One student and one faculty interview. They make it very relaxed and comfortable, just know how to present yourself well and you will give yourself a good shot! There were a few ethics style questions... nothing earth shattering and nothing that you can really prepare specifically for. Just be comfortable with talking about your commitment to medicine etc. Hope that was (somewhat?) helpful!

The first round of CCLCM decisions should come out sometime in December, I think.

Interviewed at both programs this week. Awesome! Fantastic! Amazing! An acceptance from either would be a privilege. I have my fingers crossed for this Tuesday...

I'm pretty sure they hold some seats open until the last interviews are done to be fair to people who interview later. I feel like I read/heard that somewhere

Rejected via the status page today. Come to find a recruitment email for the Case Western MS in anesthesia. Kind of seems unprofessional and a little inappropriate to send that on the same day.
Best of luck to all of you, I'm out.

Anyone submitted in Sept heard anything?
It seems that they are still on Aug. Wondering when they will move on to Sept applications.

Thank you for your info!
Stunning applicants must hear back early.

Do Case, CCLCM, or both accept update letters before interview invitation? I'm dying to interview here.

Unfortunately, no. Their application status website states that they will only accept updates from students placed on hold or who have already received II's.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I think CCLCM actually sees all of the essays.

Could someone confirm this please? I'm hoping that my greatest challenge essay will improve my chances slightly for CCLCM...
