complete 7/11. called today and they said they're still waiting on a review decision from the committee. I'm glad they said my file was still open but i'd like to hear whether or not I get a interview or not

So... they have looked at it or not? Was your file updated at all online?

I was complete 7/13, but I haven't heard anything. The last time my status was updated was the same day :\
 
well they said its in review now so I don't know if I'm still sitting in an unread stack or they're actually going over it. mines was last updated online 7/10 and it only says application submitted
 
Interview invite today! Is the student host supposed to be the best option? Or a cheap hotel? I don't know muh about Creighton or Omaha so I thought Id ask. I'd probably be driving in

It mostly depends on personal preference. Staying with a student host will probably be cheaper than a hotel. It was $30 for the night, and your host provides all the transportation, so you don't need to rent a car or anything. I also found it interesting/informative talking with my M1 host as they can give you tips on interviewing and give you a better idea of what being a student at Creighton is like. On the other hand, some people prefer having their own hotel room and doing their own thing to get ready. If you want to get a hotel, there is a Best Western hotel right across from the medical center that is a nice hotel and is about a 15-20 minute walk or 5 minute drive from the building where the interviews are held. I personally liked staying with a host, but it definitely varies person to person.
 
If I received the secondary a month ago, and I haven't submitted yet, is it too late? Will they look at it like I don't care about the school? In reality, my wife and I have some tight funds and we've been really strategic about apps.

I don't think it will really matter. We just tell people to turn them in quickly so they are being reviewed when there are less applications. Less applications means higher chance of getting an interview (or so we would like to believe).

Turn it in when you are ready and have the money to do it.
 
My application was looked at early yesterday, no status update, no email, nothing. I figure that can't be a good thing.

The date updated several times on mine before I received an interview invite in November last year. Don't worry about the changes, you have no way of knowing why it changed.
 
How enforced is the Jesuit theme here? I mean obviously there will be some religious undertones I would imagine, but how do they feel about and respond to people who are not religious? I identify with a lot of the school's values and Creighton is super high on my list, but I'm not religious. I applied to another Jesuit school as well, and as I understand it they are very understanding and open minded there in regards to other religions and non-religious people. Is Creighton the same?

still waiting to hear back...waiting is so frustrating when it comes to interviews.
 
I submitted my secondary in early July but only got the complete email on August 7, which seems to be a lot later than other people who submitted their secondaries in July. Anyways, I really really want an interview here. It seems like a great school.

Yes. The Jesuits are more concerned about the church's values and ethics than they are with the actual religious aspect.. at least that was my experience at a Jesuit UG.

In the event that I do get an interview, I just would've liked mine to be this weekend before I start school. It's merely a matter of convenience for me, and a much cheaper plane ticket.... much cheaper.

Just put it into context of a $250,000 medical education, and you won't worry about it anymore. 😀

Interviewed today and was pleasantly surprised at how laid back it was. Each of the two interviews was less about questions and more about holding a discussion. Looking back on how much I stressed out the night before, I felt a bit silly. Everyone should look forward to this one as a relaxing day, getting to know a bit more about the school!

I have kind of a unique situation, being a non-traditional student. I had a 3.2 my first time through college. I came back to school 8 years later to pursue medicine and got a 4.02 over my two years back as a human physiology student.
MCAT = 330
Complete on 8/14

They give you breakfast in the morning and then there are a couple presentations starting at 8AM. That is followed by the interviews (about 10-12ish). There are two interviews, one with a faculty member, and one with a student. Both are very laid back and mostly conversational (the student interview is generally more laid back). Both interview are open file, so they have access to your entire application, including grades and MCAT. Most of my interviews focused around things in my activities section, and general things about me and what I liked to do. After the interviews you have lunch with some of the medical students. This will likely be the best food you get at any interview. After lunch, you will split into groups and several first year students will give you tours of the campus. The day generally ends around 3, and there is often a very informal, totally optional dinner that night that many medical students attend.

Hey,

Yeah I think all of the september and October dates are done... my two options were Oct 26 and Nov 2 and I went with the latter since it worked out better for my schedule.

So my interview is on a Friday and will end at 3pm, I was thinking that taking the rest of Friday and some of Saturday to explore the area would be fun since I've never been to Omaha before. Is it possible to see or do anything if you don't drive? I was going to do the host program since they provide transportation...can any current med students or those who have interviewed comment on how to explore the area or if it would be okay to stay with a host for two nights? also since the admissions office can't store luggage, where are we supposed to put luggage if we are using the host program? I think someone commented earlier that the hosts cannot store luggage, but there has to be some option, otherwise how would anyone use this program?

(I'm being lazy by asking SDN first but will obviously call them if no one knows!)

I just wanted thoughts on what other people were doing during their interview, ...also ... the ticket from Philadelphia Airport to Omaha is making me want to cry. I can't believe this one interview alone is going to cost me over $600!!!! :cry:

Without a car it might prove difficult to make it to Old Market, the area of town that is home to lots of interesting restaurants, bars and night hangouts. However, the medical campus is within walking distance of Midtown Crossing. I walked around that area for a bit the night before my interview and there were some interesting things going on. I would recommend talking with your student host before you head down to Omaha, they will probably have a much better set of suggestions for you. Good luck at the interview!

There are usually a couple people on the list of students needing hosts that are staying two nights, so it should be fine. While the admissions office doesn't have anywhere to store luggage, I don't see why hosts wouldn't store luggage. You would be staying at their house/apartment, so it should be fine to just keep you luggage there during your stay. Usually there is a dinner either the night before or the night after the interview, and these are often in Old Market or Midtown Crossing, since that is where most of the restaurants are. Most hosts will also probably be willing to drive you around to see some of the city.

That's really helpful info...thanks guys! It says on my schedule that there is always a dinner offered for those interviewing on Fridays so I think I will definitely stay the night so that I can attend that and be able to talk to more students. Really appreciate the help! 🙂
