The guy on the phone said the weak spot on my app was limited non-med volunteering. Really? Going door to door asking for donations for battered women and children, and founding a charity event singing christmas carols in a mall for donations to cancer research isn't good enough?

And wow I wish I had known this yesterday, after spending all day in anxiety I had just told myself I was waitlisted or rejected by nighttime because I was an early interview.

Got the call a few minutes ago!!! ACCEPTED!!! My first one!! I'm shaking...but so happy 😍

That's interesting. You think if you get an II they are happy with your numbers as EC's and just want to talk to you in person to get to know you. Did they mention in the interview that you should work on non-medical volunteering? There's still hope to get off the wait list!

I would really suggest starting some new non-medical volunteering not on your app, and then sending them an update about it and some info about why you'd be a good fit. Creighton loves these types of things and wants to see your continued interest in them. One of the current medical students I talked to during my time at the interview told me he did that, and then he got accepted soon after.

for all those who are waitlisted, there is still hope...

I met a guy at CUSOM who was all settled in and about to attend DMU (he had an apartment and everything), but he was able to get off the waitlist. I'm not sure if it is a common case, but apparently the waitlist shortens pretty rapidly.

No mention during the interview. The interviews were extremely smooth, the student and I talked about guitars for 30 minutes and a retired PhD spent the whole time telling me how great Creighton was.

Here's my conspiracy theory to help comfort myself: Our stats are too good and they want us to jump through some hoops of giving updates to their critiques to prove we are actually interested in Creighton and not just applying as a safety school.

That's probably not the case, though. **** it, cheers to the wait list.

While it is possible you were put on the waitlist or rejected, I think you would be better served calling them to find out your status.

You should call them. They are not at all hesitant to tell you over the phone. Heck, I called twice to make sure that I was accepted. haha

Pretty sure I've been checking my status page every 5 minutes. It's becoming a problem!

Just a heads up to anyone that got waitlisted....
It probably wasn't your grades that held you out or you wouldn't have had such an early interview so jump on the volunteer train right away. Habitat for Humanity is always a solid option. And send updates early an often. I know multiple people that sent like 4 updates last year and got in off the wait list.

P.S. Im pretty sure they almost never reject, pretty much everyone that isn't immediately accepted gets funneled to the waitlist

That's completely okay though. I took a more extreme measure last year by choosing not to attend medical school completely whatsoever because I absolutely did not want to go to the school that I got accepted into (I won't tell you which school if you ask me, so don't try! 🙂). I did not like the school at all after attending the interview, and I did not want to spend four years of my life there...

Call it extreme, I know, but it's a personal choice that has led me to a year of exciting self-discovery. In fact, I'm extremely happy I did not go to medical school this year.

I called and the lady said I had been waitlisted. My guess is if you haven't been called and you interviewed early then you are on the wait list.

I interviewed a few weeks before you and my letters have disappeared.

Okay so I called again! And I was told that my group (I assume 9/22 and 9/21) hasn't even gone up to committee yet and that it may be a few more weeks. AAAHHHH!!!!!
