In case anyone cares (as if) I'm on hold because the adcom wanted more info from me about something (I won't talk specifics ATM) before they made a decision. Definitely feeling lucky that they chose to do it this way instead of just slapping me on the wait list. Hoping that's a good sign, too!

Keeping my fingers crossed for good news this week now - I love this school 🙂

I would take that as a good sign--good luck! 👍

a M1 friend of mine got in around March, so I doubt they send invitation batches just twice in a year? but then they could have changed their policies, I guess.

I got mine at the end of February last year, so no, they don't just do them once at the end of January. I talked to admissions and was told they were meeting one more time in mid-October for the last of the semester's invites. Everyone else would be held over for next semester. I assume that what I was told is true, considering the spate of II's coming out over the past week.

I was also told they'd establish a cut-off for the completion date at this meeting. Anyone complete past that date wouldn't be looked at until January. I'm really bummed, because I noticed someone with a later complete date than me got an interview. Re-applicant doing exactly what the committee asked (and hopefully held over so I can submit grade updates), so fingers crossed for an early 2013 interview.

It's a great school and it's been my first choice through a very, very long application process. Hopeful for the new year!

Anybody else think there are too many Michael Scott's on this thread🙂

Haha, never noticed. It looks like Michael Scott is talking to himself.

Well good luck with everything. All it takes is one. I'm sure you'll get in somewhere.

Seriously? If that's true, then that point has already passed, given that there were II's received just a week ago.
As a past Creighton student, whose application was complete almost four months ago, I'm a little confounded...
I feel like I'm going to be looked at last simply because I'm an international student 😕

Hey, hang in there. Seriously, this process sucks really hard and there's no way to make it better. Yes, it does seem that point has passed and I know how you feel. However, there's always Open Door hours and sending update letters. They won't see the last of me until the fat lady's sung. All we're looking at now is a break... two months is plenty of time to do some shadowing or volunteering. Just remember to check in with them and let them know how interested you are.

Well good luck with everything. All it takes is one. I'm sure you'll get in somewhere.

Thanks, I appreciate it! Congrats on the acceptance!

I've already sent in four updates.... :eyebrow:

I tried calling a couple of times and just got a voicemail, probably bc I was calling on my lunch break which was probably also theirs. Nothing in the mail today either. I'm gonna have to try again tom I guess?

Did the voicemail go something like: "Currently the entire staff is out doing the Michael Scott D.M.S.M.P.M.C. Rabies Awareness Pro-Am Fun Run Race... For The Cure... Leave a message."????

Probably...

Some is coming off a little stalkerish

I prefer to think of it as being proactive. Nothing wrong with update letters as long as they are of relevant and significant additions to a medical school application. Besides, I know of someone that was waitlisted last year who sent in something like 5 additional LORs and a ton of updates -- she got in.

Whoa, four updates? Awesome. There's still interview spots coming up, so hope's not at all lost.

I need to work on additional LORs... I have five so far, but all academic. Need to see if one of my volunteer directors will write me one.

Ahhh, I submitted the info they requested. Fingers crossed they re-review my app on Thursday and I get some good news 🙂

welp finally got through to someone. got accepted! love the feeling of someone telling you "hey, we like you."

Seriously, one of the best feelings in the world. Way to go and welcome to the club.

Good luck! I hope it all works out for you. I think my group may be up for review this week, so feeling pretty anxious over here myself! Here's to hoping we both get good news. :xf:

I look forward to some hardcore creeping with you tomorrow 😀

Ditto. It is good to show that we NEED this, especially when we are not super-stat applicants.

how many meaningful updates could you possibly have in three or four months? i agree that proactivity is a great idea, but come on. how would you feel about a girl (or guy) who texted you four times a day with nothing other than "hey, just want you to know that i still want you to ask me out on a date. oh, and remember that job i had that was awesome? yeah, i'm still doing that."

If I started a new EC, I would write a new update.

If I started a new EC I wouldn't say anything. I would wait until I had done it two or more months and then say something.

Here are descriptions of my update letters. Maybe I will seem less "stalkerish" if I describe them... 🙄

One was an EC I've been doing for 16+ years that I didn't have room for on my AMCAS -- just ran outta room as far as experiences go. I also added some other things that I did during my undergrad.

One was an EC I've been doing for the past year or so that I didn't feel I could comment on until later in the application cycle.

Another was a pretty long shadowing experience.

The other is something I'd prefer not to comment on but nonetheless relevant and significant.

Happy Halloween everyone -- Ima go socialize and have some fun!

Any II's go out recently?

I received one last week.

Also, for those who have interviewed already, did you have to walk outside a lot during the interview day? I ask because I am trying to figure out what type of coat to bring. Thank you!

Wool suit and a nice pea coat. Most of the interview and tour was indoors.

just an FYI to any future interviewees: if you leave your interview feeling crappy because you got asked a bunch of loaded questions about abortion/euthanasia, or got asked about health care reform and are not even sure if your answer was talking about the right thing or if it's politically correct to call it "Obamacare", it's okay. you might still get accepted!

not saying this was my experience or anything..

Letter in the mail?

I really really really hope I get reviewed tomorrow and they make a (good) decision on me! AH!

I really hope you get in because you seem to be the most neurotic person on this thread and very qualified for a spot in the incoming class

Reviewing Creighton info online, it looks like if you get waitlisted, you're app isn't considered again until after May 15. Holy shnikees that's a long wait! For those who have received a waitlist letter, is there any mention of that in the letter?

On a related note, PLEASE LET ME IN, CREIGHTON!!!

Yeah, the letter makes it clear that your file won't be looked at again until after the national May 15 deadline.

That's pretty universal to all med schools w a few exceptions I've seen on here (Vermont)

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize that. Here's to hoping they say yes right out of the gate!
