Just to be sure, Emory hasn't contact anyone yet about holds/re-reviews/rejections, only interviews? The "status" (or lack there of) online makes it sound like either you'll get an II or sometime in March/April you'll be rejected.

Does Emory screen by numbers? I am: Biochemistry and Economics major, 4.0 GPA and 28T MCAT. I'm not concerned about chances of getting in. Will at least one person at Emory look at my application? Even if they don't have time to read the Personal Statement, will my list of activities at least get skimmed?

The end of the app says:

We can only guarantee that your file will be reviewed before the end of the interview season. No applicant is ever rejected during the interview season. The only decision that is returned before March 2013 will be the decision to interview. If you are selected for an interview, you will be notified by phone or email, so please keep your contact information updated with AMCAS.

Can someone post the link to the secondary site? I cannot find that email.

Fingers crossed for the first acceptance batch this week! Good luck to all those interviewed.

Muhlgrad (or anyone), do you remember how they said they'd notify? I don't remember if it was snail mail, email, or a call.

I just received an II tonight. This interview seems like it's going to be a lot more extensive than the one I had before (Brody). What should I expect?

Congrats! When were you complete?

What is the time frame that people have been getting interview invites who were completed recently? I was just completed yesterday, and I think my chances are slim, so if I don't hear back within that time frame, I'm probably out.

not yet, crossing my fingers for when i get home today though!

I'll post if I get one. I interviewed Oct 5 and they said we'd be part of group 1.

I don't remember that exact date. Now that I've been looking on this forum I see that that is rare. I took my MCAT in July so I must've been done by August. I know that doesn't tell you much.

How was it? This one will be different from the others I've been through (I haven't done a group interview before).

For me I think it took about 2 months

Has anyone received an acceptance in the mail yet? I thought they said they were mailing out the first batch on Monday

Accepted! Received a large envelope in the mail today. The letter was dated 10/22, but it was postmarked "late 10/23." I Interviewed on October 12th. BTW I live in New England, if you are trying to figure out the time in the mail.

...that's a REALLY long time for mail.

Do you guys know the relative weight of the group interview compared to the one on one. At my group interview they said they would be the ones presenting us to the committee and my one on one was rather informal so I was just wondering.

I'm not sure but if I had to hazard a guess I would say the group is somewhat more important than the one-on-one. My one-on-one was also extremely relaxed and just go with the conversational flow. On the other hand the group interview seemed much groups out getting some answers about the applications and who we were/how we would fit in at the school. Just my opinion though

Just got my acceptance packet!!! So thrilled, I absolutely loved the school 😀

Congrats everyone that was accepted! Just to clarify, do we just need to send back that pink slip to hold a spot? There's no deposit?

According to what i read in the packet and what I just checked in the MSAR there is no deposit for Emory. I was worried about that too

Can any of you all share what kind of questions were asked in the group and individual interviews?
Thanks

i interviewed here early october, but can't find my blue folder with all the colored paper in it;

can anyone remind me what dates they send out acceptances? theres obviously oct 22 which passed, and iirc, there was one in Nov, one in Dec, Jan then March.

specific dates would be much appreciated!

According to page 5 of this forum: "10/22, 11/19, 12/21, 2/4, 2/18"

I'm interviewing on Nov. 16th. Do you all know how if those who interview on that date will be up for review at the 11/19 meeting?

Probably not. I interviewed 15 and wasn't eligible for the 22 of october

My boyfriend received a secondary from Emory about an hour ago. I am wondering if they blindly send these out, or if we should be excited. If you're going to be rejected would they even send the secondary? He is reluctant to pay the $120. His stats are VERY low. He has been a loyal full time employee at Emory University Hospital for two years now. (While in school an hour away) I know that if he did make the first round of cuts, this is why. His EC's are off the charts. Anyways, what do you guys think? Should we even try? Thanks everyone! I don't know what I'd do without STDN. It's so hard to sleep in our household!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I believe everyone who sends their AMCAS to Emory receives a secondary, regardless of stats. If they are way below the median at Emory, it may be in your best interest to save the money, especially applying this late in the application season.

anyone midn sharing MSAR data on Emory?

like how many acceptances given out out of how many people interviewed?

Still crossing my fingers for something here! former GA state resident here (now live in MD)!!

If you do not try, you will never know...is the $120 worth the opportunity? I would still try, especially if your life would be complete if an acceptance was acquired.

10th -90th MCAT= 31-39
10th - 90th GPA= 3.49 - 3.96
apps IS/apps OOS/international = 568/5550/324
interviews IS/OOS/international = 111/539/12
matriculate (not just accept) IS/OOS/international = 34/100/2

I know for the MSTP they accept twice as many as they have spots...not sure about MD only.

This is from MSAR

Applications: 568 IS 5550 OOS
Interviews: 111 IS 539 OOS
Matriculated: 34 IS 100 OOS

Nothing about acceptances. Sorry!

I also forgot to say that Emory's server has been down starting in the beginning of October for about 3 weeks...so many people's applications were put back weeks. Plus, you have to give their office "2 weeks" to allow for them to mark as complete, but the lady in the office is extremely helpful and helped to push mine through after the server delays and a week of waiting...

I've been lurking on SDN on and off, mostly to keep up with the secondaries/interview invites timeline, and have not posted till now. However, I just received my first acceptance from Emory and was so excited that I decided to break that silence. I'm thrilled to join the other accept-ees and want to wish good luck to all applicants; I'm definitely looking forward to the next few months and to possibly seeing some of you in the fall.

Congrats BuddhaBandit! I am in an identical situation (long time lurker, first time poster with acceptance in hand), but I also had a question for any current students out there:

Has the "18 semester hours of humanities and social and/or behavioral sciences" requirement actually been an issue for anyone (e.g., accepted but told you would have to get those credits the summer before enrolling)? Depending on what Emory counts, I'm either exactly at 18 or a few classes short. Appreciate the help, and maybe I'll see you in the fall!
