I've been lurking on SDN on and off, mostly to keep up with the secondaries/interview invites timeline, and have not posted till now. However, I just received my first acceptance from Emory and was so excited that I decided to break that silence. I'm thrilled to join the other accept-ees and want to wish good luck to all applicants; I'm definitely looking forward to the next few months and to possibly seeing some of you in the fall.

Congrats to you.

Congrats BuddhaBandit! I am in an identical situation (long time lurker, first time poster with acceptance in hand), but I also had a question for any current students out there:

Has the "18 semester hours of humanities and social and/or behavioral sciences" requirement actually been an issue for anyone (e.g., accepted but told you would have to get those credits the summer before enrolling)? Depending on what Emory counts, I'm either exactly at 18 or a few classes short. Appreciate the help, and maybe I'll see you in the fall!

I didn't have anything in my acceptance package, but I know that I'm way over on my humanities. I'd call the admission office to make sure.

When did you both interview? I interviewed Oct 8th.

My boyfriend received a secondary from Emory about an hour ago. I am wondering if they blindly send these out, or if we should be excited. If you're going to be rejected would they even send the secondary? He is reluctant to pay the $120. His stats are VERY low. He has been a loyal full time employee at Emory University Hospital for two years now. (While in school an hour away) I know that if he did make the first round of cuts, this is why. His EC's are off the charts. Anyways, what do you guys think? Should we even try? Thanks everyone! I don't know what I'd do without STDN. It's so hard to sleep in our household!
I think it depends on what other factors are involved. What I mean is, what department did he work in? Did he have direct patient contact? How long has he worked in hospitals? Community service? Is he a minority or did he come from a disadvantaged background? It's a lot of money so assess wisely 🙂

Can anyone comment on the timeline between secondary submitted (and LOR, fee, supplement materials, etc being recieved) and when the status of application is actually "complete"?

Congratulations! Must mean they sent them out before today?

Could really use some good news at this point! :xf:

I interviewed on 10/26 as well. praying that i get some good news in the mail tomorrow.

Anyone know when Emory stops sending out interview invitations?

They said the end of February on the phone.

II today as well. Finally. Emory kept stringing me on and I had lost hope. A bit annoying since I drive by it everyday. Well, I'm excited now!

Has anyone in the New England area received an acceptance from the second round yet?

Has anyone from the northeast in general received an acceptance yet? I was home this thanksgiving hoping for something shiny in the mail.

This thread has been dead for a while 😕

+1. I'm from NY and since I havent gotten anything I'm gearing up to write a letter of intent.

I interviewed in mid-October, and got the acceptance letter on November 20, which was surprising since the letter was dated November 19. Living in the northeast.

I'm interviewing this Friday. Do you think 12/7 interviews will be in the 12/21 decision group?

Can anyone comment on the importance of stats after receiving an interview invite?

Probably so. If you don't get admitted then, you will be recycled to the next round, etc (you probably knew that). I interviewed November 16, and they said that they had made decisions the night before, so we wouldn't be considered until this round.

On my interview day they mentioned which acceptance round we were eligible for; I interviewed nov. 16th and dec21st is the first eligible date, so they should have mentioned it...My guess is that you won't be eligible for dec21st.. I am getting so anxious about this school, after interviewing here it is definitely my first choice!!!

MCAT: 35, GPA: 3.8-3.9

This is officially my first post, I've been lurking for a while now.

If you don't mind me asking, when were you two complete? 🙂

They're meeting tomorrow!
Does anybody know when they will send acceptances out? I'm wondering if they will go out before the holiday.

does anyone know how advantageous it is to interview earlier at emory? i've been offered 2 interview dates, that are 3 weeks apart- one in jan and one in feb. the later interview date works better for my schedule, but i'd rather make the first one work if i'm going to be put at a disadvantage by interviewing later (esp since it's pretty late in the interview season). thoughts?

thanks in advance!

I know they only do interviews Mondays and Fridays, but no idea as far as what's open!

im interviewing in january and staying at a hotel downtown. is there easy public transportation from the airport to downtown, and downtown to emory? Should I just take a cab from downtown to campus?

I'll be in atlanta for 3 days so I don't want to rent a car, cause the only thing I'll want it for is the interview.

Unfortunately, Marta doesn't travel to the Emory area (whoever designed the rail system in Atlanta had to be mentally challenged). If I were you, I would try to find a hotel that is closer by. If not, a cab is your best bet.

I think they actually mail out the acceptances tomorrow-At least that's how I interpreted the yellow sheet with the acceptance dates that we got at the interview!

There is a Marta bus directly to Emory from the train (Lindbergh station). It's actually pretty easy, though I don't know if I'd want to depend in it to get me to an interview. I just used it to get to the airport after the interview.

I live in Atlanta. If you catch the #6 from Inman Park train station, it takes you to Emory. I think you can catch the #6 from the Lindbergh station as well...both routes take you to Emory.

I would say go for the earlier one. I remember them telling us during the interview day that even if you aren't accepted right off the bat, you are considered for each subsequent round of acceptances. So the earlier you interview, the more times your file is evaluated and considered for acceptance (assuming you don't get in the first round). But then again, if both of your possible interview dates would get you reviewed the same amount of times, then I'd say pick which one is more convenient for you. I hope this makes sense.

That's the impression I got too. For the last round, the acceptances actually arrived in peoples' mailboxes on the day they said they would mail them out (according to other posts on SDN). Good luck everyone! Hoping for some good news here!

Yup, that makes sense- thanks for your response! Do you (or anyone else) know when/how often the committee gets together to make decisions?
