Yup, that makes sense- thanks for your response! Do you (or anyone else) know when/how often the committee gets together to make decisions?

Not sure about frequency, but I know they're not meeting until sometime in the middle of next month. I was there on Monday and they said not expect anything before February.

There is a Marta bus directly to Emory from the train (Lindbergh station). It's actually pretty easy, though I don't know if I'd want to depend in it to get me to an interview. I just used it to get to the airport after the interview.

I live in Atlanta. If you catch the #6 from Inman Park train station, it takes you to Emory. I think you can catch the #6 from the Lindbergh station as well...both routes take you to Emory.

Unfortunately, Marta doesn't travel to the Emory area (whoever designed the rail system in Atlanta had to be mentally challenged). If I were you, I would try to find a hotel that is closer by. If not, a cab is your best bet.

thank you all for the advice. I'll figure it out.

Congrats! When did you interview?! If you don't mind me asking, when was the letter postmarked?

Thanks! I interviewed on 12/3. I actually got called, but this round of acceptances is going out tomorrow (before the office closes for the holidays)

Accepted! good luck, y'all!

Are they calling all the ones they accepted this round, or did they call you specifically for some reason? I remember June saying that they only send letters, no calls or emails.

I remember them saying this as well.

No idea. That's what I thought, too.

Damn. Well guess there is next time for me! Congrats though!

So I was under the impression that we would get letters today, but I called admissions and they said that the letters are SENT out today... Boy do I love living in Cali, damn...

I remember them saying this as well.

Same here, but I also remember June saying that they might call some people to let them know there is a mail on its way. Did everyone who received a mail get a phone call in advance??

Also, has anyone in the Northeast gotten any mail today? If we get one this time around, it's probably reasonable to think that it will arrive on Monday? :xf:

My friend is a 1st year there and said she had never heard of them calling ahead.

I was called ahead

Just to reconcile the discrepancy, I believe all URM candidates are called by the Dean of the Multicultural Affairs Office if the committee has admitted them... which is why I know I've been passed up this round. Time to get cracking on that update/LOCI. 🙄

This might be a dumb question, but what is URM? And thanks for clearing that up!

*never mind, figured it out!

Accepted! Could not be more excited. Interviewed 11/30. 3.9/35.

Forgot to mention, I'm on the west coast (perhaps evident from my name 🙂 ). Mail was fast

Congratulations! My mail should be coming within an hour; so I am getting pretty anxious! (from Sacramento).

Hey guys, my application was complete in early August, but I haven't gotten a response yet and I know interviews aren't being handed out that much anymore. Is it reasonable to contact Admissions with a letter of intent? I only want to send one if it will be taken seriously. If I were to send one, I would outline my strong reasons for liking the school. I did send an update letter already.

Let me know! Hope to get an interview like many of you.

They do only send out invites a few weeks in advance. I got my invite exactly 2 weeks before the date, so if that makes you feel better. I know they interview until the end of February, so you definitely still have time. I don't think sending in a letter of intent could hurt any though. As far as how seriously they would take it... I'm not sure. When I interviewed there, she poked fun at people who get home immediately and begin their letter. I think if it is well written and not a "form" letter, then you should be good.

Good luck!

II a few minutes ago! I was complete ~ Aug 10 so don't lose hope if you were complete early!

Did anyone receive the interview follow-up email?

I didn't get anything after my interview until my acceptance 3 weeks later. There was also a confirmation email after I mailed in my acceptance of the offer.

The person was an admissions liaison and member of SNMA... I'm kinda nervous....this could mean rejection...

All I know about SNMA is that it's an organization that gives scholarships specifically to URM students. I don't think an email from them could be construed as a bad thing! Was the message negative in some way? I really don't think you need to be worried.

It wasn't bad at all. They offered to answer any of my questions. I think they were checking on me. You're right! I hope I get accepted!

Another school I interviewed at sent the same type of email to a bunch of interviewees from their office of diversity & student affairs, or some such title. Definitely just checking on people and making an effort to interest interviewees in the school. No worries!
