Just realized I'm on "re-review." Interesting that they never notified us of this by email or anything. I just happened to check my status on the site.

Would also like to know this, I'm in the same position!

I was put on re-review back in August, and sent an "in the area"/letter of interest to them at the beginning of September and they said:

"Thank you for your interest in GW. The review process can take some time.

We will note your visit to the DC area in your application. Please note that, each year many files are reviewed and placed on hold for re-review at a later date. We do interview from September through March.

Thank you for your interest in The George Washington University Medical School."

no further change to my status since then 🙁

+1 🙁

II just now! So excited, this is my top choice!
Yeah, it's looking more and more like this is my #1, too. I've done so much additional research on this school lately and have been loving everything! I'm dying to live in the Columbia Plaza. Walk to school and clinicals everyday? What, I also get an awesome view and stainless steel appliances on granite countertops? Word.

My secondary was complete mid July, went back and forth from being complete and re-review. Then got a status saying that a correspondence email had been sent out. Interview scheduled for Jan. 4

I have been on re review for some time since mid july too. I believe I have some chance here. Keeping my fingers crossed. I sent an interest letter a couple weeks ago. Congratulations on your interview invite.

Sent from my DROID3 using SDN Mobile

Nice! Congrats!! Looks like there is some hope for re-review people. Mind if I ask your stats?

interesting, ive been on re-review since mid august and never seen my status change between complete and re-review. Does that mean they havent re-reviewed my application since august?

gratz on the interview invite, best of luck!

First time posting, but I have an interview schedule Dec 6th. Anyone else?? I am coming from California and thought it would be nice to meet some fellow applicants the night before the interview... Anyone interested?

if anyone else has an interview scheduled for Jan. 4 let me know!
I do. I was just rescheduled. PM me if you're interested in getting a drink afterward or something.

How many people interview each day? I prefer small groups, but with as many that apply and interview, I can't imagine the group being too small...

About 15 each interview day

I'm not sure how many people interview each day but 15 seems to be a good number. I'm heading out there on the 2nd just so I can settle in and have a day to relax.

Thanks! That's not bad at all. Some of the MMIs have like 30+ a day. And that tends to stress me out. It's like the multiplier effect of rampant cortisol & NE levels spreads through the air. LoL

I'm heading out on the 3rd and leaving the 5th. I tried the host program, but also have an acquaintance in the area that offered to host. Although, she hasn't gotten back to me in a few days. =\

yeah I'm staying at One Washington Circle Hotel so I can walk to the interview. That way I can avoid the whole rental car situation.

The MAIN THING I would recommend is staying at a hotel that is within walking distance. Getting a taxi to arrive on time / get you to the place on time is ridiculously difficult. I was almost late because the taxi I called came only 30 minutes before and there was a huge traffic jam (as is normal in DC). I even told them to come by 7:45 because I assumed the taxis would be late but it didn't work out quite that well. However, I was luckily able to get there on time.

I found the metro to be totally reliable and the foggy bottom station is RIGHT next to GW med. Less than a block.

Maybe the metro is good too.. my hotel was like 3. some miles away and it took forever to get a taxi (there was no metro near my hotel) 🙂

My SO had his interview today and had this problem as well. He was almost late! :scared: He also had similar trouble with transportation from the airport to the hotel... 🙁

The Metro is very reliable....I stayed in Arlington, (for cheaper than DC, I would imagine) and had zero problem getting to the interview on time. Like previously mentioned, the metro stop is right next to the hospital.

Good to hear. I plan on this being my transportation method of choice for my interview day...

Echoing the "hope" sentiment. I was complete at the end of July, put on hold sometime in early Aug, and sent an LOI a couple weeks later. Was starting to give up on GW and just resign myself to an eventual rejection, but now maybe.. just MAYBE... I still have a shot?

Mines also in January. So they have a good amount of interviews left to give out. Send a LOI if you haven't guys. A lot of people in this thread have sent them and have gotten IIs

does anyone know what address to use when we are sending in update letters/ or new recommendations?

What is the difference between an update letter and LOI?
I am 3.74/31 and still haven't heard from them 🙁

A lot of people use them together at once. LOI is either Letter of Interest or Letter of Intent. For Letter of Interest, you basically tell them of your interest and then include some relevant updates (publications, research, shadowing, etc). And then Letter of Intent is saying you'll definitely matriculate if accepted there. Hope this helps!

Oh it absolutely does! Thank you so very much!👍

They can be one in the same, or totally different depending upon your situation. Generally, an update letter alerts the school to new developments in your application (e.g., publications, grades, awards), while the LOI is more of a brief summation of how much you prefer and would love to attend the school. Some people combine the two. For instance, I've sent updates to all of my schools regarding a recent publication and an overwrite on my AMCAS primary, but only sent one LOI to Drew/UCLA. However, GWU is definitely my top choice now and I intend to send a LOI either with my thank you notes from the interview, or after receiving a hold if that's the case. I hope this helps.
