Just got changed from complete to re-review. Sigh.
Does anyone know how receptive they are to update letters?
Would also like to know this, I'm in the same position!

i was put on re-review back in august, and sent an "in the area"/letter of interest to them at the beginning of september and they said:
"thank you for your interest in gw. The review process can take some time.
we will note your visit to the dc area in your application. Please note that, each year many files are reviewed and placed on hold for re-review at a later date. We do interview from september through march.
Thank you for your interest in the george washington university medical school."
no further change to my status since then 🙁
+1 🙁
Yeah, it's looking more and more like this is my #1, too. I've done so much additional research on this school lately and have been loving everything! I'm dying to live in the Columbia Plaza. Walk to school and clinicals everyday? What, I also get an awesome view and stainless steel appliances on granite countertops? Word.II just now! So excited, this is my top choice!
Darn I had the exact same response!

My secondary was complete mid July, went back and forth from being complete and re-review. Then got a status saying that a correspondence email had been sent out. Interview scheduled for Jan. 4

I do. I was just rescheduled. PM me if you're interested in getting a drink afterward or something.if anyone else has an interview scheduled for Jan. 4 let me know!
About 15 each interview dayI do. I was just rescheduled. PM me if you're interested in getting a drink afterward or something.
How many people interview each day? I prefer small groups, but with as many that apply and interview, I can't imagine the group being too small...

Thanks! That's not bad at all. Some of the MMIs have like 30+ a day. And that tends to stress me out. It's like the multiplier effect of rampant cortisol & NE levels spreads through the air. LoLAbout 15 each interview day
I'm heading out on the 3rd and leaving the 5th. I tried the host program, but also have an acquaintance in the area that offered to host. Although, she hasn't gotten back to me in a few days. =\I'm not sure how many people interview each day but 15 seems to be a good number. I'm heading out there on the 2nd just so I can settle in and have a day to relax.

The MAIN THING I would recommend is staying at a hotel that is within walking distance. Getting a taxi to arrive on time / get you to the place on time is ridiculously difficult.
I found the metro to be totally reliable and the foggy bottom station is RIGHT next to GW med. Less than a block.

I was almost late because the taxi I called came only 30 minutes before and there was a huge traffic jam (as is normal in DC). I even told them to come by 7:45 because I assumed the taxis would be late but it didn't work out quite that well. However, I was luckily able to get there on time.

The Metro is very reliable....I stayed in Arlington, (for cheaper than DC, I would imagine) and had zero problem getting to the interview on time. Like previously mentioned, the metro stop is right next to the hospital.

does anyone know what address to use when we are sending in update letters/ or new recommendations?
Mines also in January. So they have a good amount of interviews left to give out. Send a LOI if you haven't guys. A lot of people in this thread have sent them and have gotten IIs

What is the difference between an update letter and LOI?
I am 3.74/31 and still haven't heard from them 🙁
Oh it absolutely does! Thank you so very much!👍A lot of people use them together at once. LOI is either Letter of Interest or Letter of Intent. For Letter of Interest, you basically tell them of your interest and then include some relevant updates (publications, research, shadowing, etc). And then Letter of Intent is basically saying you'll definitely matriculate if accepted there. Hope this helps!

They can be one in the same, or totally different depending upon your situation. Generally, an update letter alerts the school to new developments in your application (e.g., publications, grades, awards), while the LOI is more of a brief summation of how much you prefer and would love to attend the school. Some people combine the two. For instance, I've sent updates to all of my schools regarding a recent publication and an overwrite on my AMCAS primary, but only sent one LOI to Drew/UCLA. However, GWU is definitely my top choice now and I intend to send a LOI either with my thank you notes from the interview, or after receiving a hold if that's the case. I hope this helps. What is the difference between an update letter and LOI?
