I just submitted. It says decision pending. Hoping for the best.

I just submitted the secondary... I literally spent two hours writing one paragraph. Has anyone else had really really debilitatingly bad writer's block? I still have 17 secondaries to fill out. Oy vey.

good luck to you 🙂

I received no email, but my status says "Interview to be Scheduled"...I guess that means I'm definitely getting an interview?? If so, WOOOO first one!

stats: gpa: 3.86, sgpa: 3.82, MCAT 32R. Submitted

Sure, I'm OOS from NY. I submitted my secondary on 7/8. I think i meant to say that in the last post, but was so excited that I just left it at the word "submit."

Congrats!!! That's great news!

I'm in-state for Jeff (yay, Delaware!) and I submitted a day after you. Hopefully, I'll get a change in status soon too! 🙂

I didn't check my status before yesterday, sorry =[ That was my first time checking it. I have no idea how long it has said "interview to be scheduled," but I still haven't gotten an email.

Yep it does. Congrats!

Have any of you guys received a "completed" email? My status has been "Decision Pending" for several weeks now but I'm not sure if it's complete.

congrats to the one who got interview.

BTW, there is a strict cutoff of no MCAT score below 8. That is how it has been for years. 8-8-8 cutoff is a screening rule for the majority of mid-tier, low-tier allelopathy schools, and even a few osteopathic schools.

This isn't true for receiving a secondary invite. What's your source? Also, this includes all takes of the MCAT?

they apply the cutoff AFTER they receive your secondary. Jefferson has been known to be outspoken about its cutoff. If you have at least one set of scores of 8 and above then you are fine.

here is a thread 4 years ago talking about jefferson's cutoff rule.

http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=569660

An applicant downthread says he got accepted with 8,8,9. He clarifies it is an 8 cutoff.

I spoke with a top admissions officer a few weeks ago. She explicitly told me 8 is the cutoff for jefferson and that is the case for the majority of allelopathy medical schools. They have time and systematic contraints to interview people and accept people. Below 8s are accepted at some DO schools and some allelopathy schools but even then those applicants have extremely strong offsets. In-state context and region context comes into play too.

This is a link clarifying the key 8-8-8 benchmark for many medical schools

http://www.ehow.com/how_6498819_interpret-mcat-score.html

"Look at your individual section scores and make sure that they are all above 8. Some schools have a computer program in admissions that automatically screens out section scores below 8, so your application might not be considered at these schools."

No sugarcoating that 8 is not ideal, but having at least 8 and above and everything else strong will keep you in the ballpark. Ballpark is better than an immediate rejection.

My point was more that TONS of applicants retake the test for higher scores if they received below an 8 in at least one sub-section. If the newest take is at least an 8 in every section, are they still rejected automatically? I know every school has its own rules, like MCW looks at only the highest scores across all takes within 3 years of application.

Does Jefferson do silent rejections?

commenters have said yes. If you have any MCAT section score below 8 and it says decision pending, your application likely has been thrown down the gutter.

Otherwise, a decision pending means you are at least in the ballpark and they are weighing your application against other applicants.

Does that include a past score that has since expired?
I got a 7 in VR 4 years ago. But got a 8 the second time I took it this past april.

You are good to go 🙂 you are at least in range.

I submitted sec and paid the fee but it says no in the columns 😕

Maybe you should shoot them an email. I don't remember if this is true for Jefferson specifically, but for the most part the fee/application submitted sections update as soon as you pay/submit. The only parts that usually take a while are the LoR and the completed sections.

mine took 24 hours to change.

Where are these located? I can't find them anywhere on my app 😳

Still no secondary... verified 6/18....
3.86/3.95/ 29(9,9,11) OOS ..... should i shoot them an email...??

How do they average MCAT scores here? I recently took MCAT but I had taken MCAT twice 3 years back. So do they average all these scores even if they have expired kinda?

I am trying to submit, is anyone else getting this error today?

Sat, 28 Jul 2012 15:49:23 GMT

ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column
ORA-06512: at "BANINST1.JMCSAPP", line 6386
ORA-06512: at line 33

Does Jefferson do silent rejections?

They send out rejection letters sometime after mid-April when they're done with all of the interviews. It's not completely silent, but I understand how waiting for almost a year to receive a rejection letter is annoying.

Just popped in to say best of luck to all applicants this year!

Yea I'm getting the same error as you as well. Anyone else get around this?

Anyone know if Jefferson has a gpa screen in addition to their mcat cutoff? I have that ambiguous "decision pending" status but I called the admin office to ask about another issue and the woman I spoke to was like, here, let me check on your app, oh let's see, oh yeah you're under review- but the tone of her voice sounded like, oh, yeah, you're in that category, you're done. Maybe I'm just paranoid but I wouldn't be surprised if there's a 3.5 gpa cutoff that prevents a serious review of your materials.

I keep checking my portal waiting for a status change, but it is still Decision Pending. I even emailed admissions to confirm they got my DIMER app just to be sure that wasn't holding anything up.

I'M NOT NEUROTIC AT ALL. NOPE. :meanie:

No official e-mail yet, but status changed to "Interview to be scheduled" from "Decision Pending" 🙂

Secondary submitted 7/24, OOS
3.81s/3.87c/37

Me too 🙁. I have been at Decision Pending for a while now. I also noticed that if I click on the pre-2013 application link that it says something like "application is complete but not yet processed." I am clinging to the hope that this means they just haven't gotten to my application yet, and that I may get an II soon!
