Yea it still isn't allowed for some strange reason

👎

My student host also told me that you aren't allowed to review your tests...you are only given a grade and you move on. Do you feel this is an issue when it comes to learning the material?

Yea very much so. I still have no idea what things I missed from first and second year exams. It's also an issue in classes that have final exams where I could have missed the same questions twice without knowing I was wrong.

However, some professors I hear will go over the exam with you if you want. I think this is mostly for people who didn't do well on the exam though.

Can anyone tell me what the policy is for recording lectures? I heard that it is currently done by students but not the school itself.

There are rare exceptions when material is allowed to be recorded, but for the most part it's a no. They've stated that rule is because they've discovered too much distribution of the material outside the school, plus they are trying to give incentive to come to lecture. Doesn't make much sense to me, but oh well. Though more often then not, there are a suspicious amount of iPhones laying out on desks with there microphones pointed toward the lecturer... :naughty:

We actually switched to a new testing software this year that gives you detailed reports after exams have finished, with how you performed daily, the class average for each subject, and any outliers. You can't see the specific questions again, but the report does tell you what specific topics in each class you answered correctly or incorrectly. It is kind of annoying that you can't learn from your mistakes in this regard, but I guess that is what Q-banks are for.

If you contact them, some professors are better than others about explaining why you missed what you did (particularly Micro & Path), but others are still locked down tight.

Hey guys.

Happy Sabbath and Easter.

I wanted to post a song here that I think will speak to people who got rejected or are WL here at LLU.

Blessings.

Hi guys, I was just curious if any current students had recommendations on what the best/cheapest health plan at LLU is. At my undergrad, the school's plan was by far the most expensive, and I was wondering if the same goes at LLU? Thanks.

Do you mean for yourself or if a spouse wants to buy in? If you are just asking for yourself, the LLU health plan (aka Risk Management) is built into your med school tuition, so you'll have it whether you want it or not. It's not that great, but covers the basics.

can I ask you why this is your dream school? I just applied to Loma Linda because I thought I had a good chance of getting in. Has anyone heard anything back from Loma Linda in April so far? 😕

We usually hear things out of LLU around the 3rd week of each month. So, next week...

Was the 28 your second MCAT? If so, what was your first MCAT score?

In general, LLU places a huge emphasis on mission/volunteering/community involvement etc. Have you done any of this?

My first MCAT score was 20. LOL . I guess i didn't know how to study.
Also, I have done a lot of mission and volunteering and community involvement with my church. I do almost every week. I have serve the community many times so I basically lost count. Also, I am a christian by faith and not by name.

Not sure I would retake the MCAT unless you're sure you'll do a lot better.

I highly suggest you write down (document) all of the mission work/volunteering you do for the AMCAS work/activity section.

Good answer, but do you have a regular church that you attend?

I do have a church that I regularly attend. thanks. Do you think I might have a good shot at loma linda if I apply as Early Decision

Generally speaking, EDC is for applicants who are "better" than average for the school under consideration and who have a compelling reason to be limited in their geography (family...).

EDC will put you at a significant disadvantage with regard to timing if you are not selected so I would recommend contacting the school prior to making this important decision.

this.

Anyone know when LLU releases financial aid awards? I applied in February and haven't heart anything yet!

Just contacted financial aid (Mr. Rendel) and was told that awards should begin to trickle out in late April.

The running theory is that LLU is waiting for the May deadline for people to choose a school if they have multiple acceptances. After that, the ball starts rolling.

does it mean they will be accepting more people? I thought this was the last week for acceptance calls

I'll reiterate what others have said: did you contact the admissions office?

Yeah I tried calling yesterday and today but no one answered. I guess I will call them again on monday

I didn't hear anything this last week either. This waiting period is no fun! It's difficult to make any summer plans or move forward with acceptances from other schools. I hope there is movement very soon! Best of luck to you and anyone else waiting!!

Yeah, I know how you feel. Look at it this way, things will have to heat up soon. There are 101 days until orientation.

Got accepted today! Interviewed late January (never got a letter or e-mail telling me I was on the waitlist, but I assumed I was on it). Hopefully, some of you guys who are still waiting will hear back soon.

Congratulations on your acceptance! Looking forward to meeting you in August!

Congratulations infarction 🙂 I know you were waiting a while. Glad LLUSM finally got it done for you.

Does anyone know how the waitlist works for LLU? What are the chances of getting in when you are waitlisted?

January, Wonderdog.
anyone else waitlisted?

For those that are interested, the wait list starts to move again towards the end of May and June.

Just made the incredibly difficult decision of withdrawing today. I love LLUSM and it had always been my first choice. However, sometimes financial constraints as well as doors opening in other places occur. Best of luck to all of you (those matriculating and those on waitlist)!

Good luck in your endeavors!! Loma Linda will miss you!

Thanks for posting your withdrawal jcaptain. It gives all of us on the waitlist hope! I'm praying to hear something this month because it's so difficult to making living arrangements and summer plans without knowing.

Couple questions for those of you accepted...What day is the white coat ceremony? And when do classes and orientation start?

Orientation is August 1 & 2. White Coat is the evening of August 1. You begin with a 2 week ward experience in an assigned hospital (following MS3's) with some classes interspersed throughout. Following the first 2 weeks, classes *truly* begin.

Any other waitlisters out there heard anything??? I know we can hear anything throughout the entire summer, but the waiting and anticipation is no fun...

I'm still waiting here. But I'm starting to enjoy my summer while studying for mcat 🙂

Just declined my acceptance at LLUSM today. Got accepted off the waitlist at another school that is cheaper and closer to my family and girlfriend. Best wishes to everyone. 🙂
