No news about decisions lately? Bahhhhh! Getting so antsy. I know last year the next big wave of decisions was around Valentine's Day but I was hoping for something maybe a little earlier this year 🙂

I think we applied to pretty much all of the same schools haha. Good luck! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

so, i interviewed at NYU in mid-October and have not heard anything back in regards to a final decision :scared: could that mean i'm waitlisted/rejected?

when do you suppose we will hear back? i recall during the interview day, we were told by february 1st, but now the website says march 1st......so tired of the waiting game!

I don't think so at all, it seems like they only released a small number of decisions

February 1st was pre-Sandy, if the admissions office has made enough progress, maybe they're reverting back to this date, meaning we find out very soon, considering they say they're giving everybody an opportunity to apply to the 3 year MD program, which has a deadline of Feb 10th I believe?

If that is not the case, a few more weeks of waiting probably won't hurt considering we're already counting months

So I interviewed in early October and had the same anticipation about tomorrow being THE day, so I called a week or so ago.

They told me that the February 1st date had to be pushed back to March 1st. I had guessed this since some people who interview post-Sandy had written here that their interview folder said they would hear back by March 1st.

Keep in mind though that I was told that all decisions would be made BY March 1st, so perhaps there is hope that decisions will come out in the next few weeks.

Either way, keep the hope alive y'all! Would be a dream to go here!

i'm hoping that march 1st date might mean they can give a few more interviews for early/mid february, i'll even take an interview for a waitlist at this point. but i'm not hopeful, i'm assuming theyre done interviewing.

last day of interviews was Jan 25

Since they are pushing back the decision-release deadline, does anyone know if they are also pushing back the deadline to apply to the 3-year program?

Hi all! I was accepted to NYU in December. I have a couple questions for current students: Would you say that you have a good work/life balance here and do your classmates hang out together frequently? Also, do you happen to know what % of students get their first choice residency? I'm from CA and want to go to med school out of state, but would probably want to come back for residency..

Hey, just out of curiosity, what does the nyu three year program app is like? Do they care more about ur GPA/MCAT? or is it like only short answer questions?

Only essay questions. Not sure any of us can tell you what they're looking for when deciding who to accept into the program.

Hey, congrats on your acceptance! Work/life balance is highly dependent on each person. It depends on how you learn, how in depth you want to learn things, and what other things you have going on besides school. As far as how that transpires at NYU, the academic aspects of our curriculum allows for ample free time both in pre-clinical and clinical years (don't expect much for clerkship though, as with any school). A pass/fail curriculum also allows a little more leeway in the amount of effort you want to put in to studying for the exams. Overall, our class is very close and that applies to the school as a whole. You will never be bored, and there will always be a group of people to do things with if you're looking to go out or hang out.

As far as residency stuff, I don't think we have that information published. Exact numbers for this statistic tend to be less revealing, because where a person interviews and what they end of choosing as their top choice are all highly variable. Where you end up will largely depend on your efforts in school, and what specialty you are hoping to match to.I will say that coming from a school with a strong reputation like NYU can only help you.

congrats future classmate!!! (it sounds like you're pretty set on NYU but no worries either way) have a great weekend to celebrate!

ACCEPTED!!!!!!!

OMG just got the email. No call.

I'm shaking I can barely type this! 😀😀😀

Edited to add: interviewed Jan 2.

Yay!!!! I remember you posting trying to predict when decisions would come out! Classmates!!

Congrats all, that's so exciting!!!

And on the other hand, commencing panicking and anxiety now? Or keep chalking everything up to Sandy and just wait for whatever will happen?

Is there an official fb group for accepted students? Can't wait to meet you all !

Accepted today. First one! Interviewed last week. 1/22!!! Soooo happy!!! Last interview yesterday too. Drinks tonight !

interviewed in Dec. does that mean waitlist/reject? probably..ugh

Got a call from NYU today. I recognized that the phone # was from NYU and my heart started racing... but then it was someone from the undergrad alum association asking for $$$. sigh....

I would have jumped through the roof had that happened to me, mad props for keeping your cool!

Do you think they'll have more decisions on Monday? I really thought that March 1st would be the day, but it looks like they gave out a ton yesterday, and all for January Interviews

Lets hope so, interviewed last day of Nov. and haven't heard a thing

I interviewed September 27th and I think it's time to be realistic. Those of us who interviewed before December and haven't heard back, I think it's safe to assume waitlist/rejection.

It seems odd that so many January Interviewees have gotten in, when it seems that no one who interviewed in December has heard anything?

I still think everyone has a chance....

This is all speculation but I personally think that these recent acceptances are for candidates that are competitive for NYU residencies for the 3 year MD program, the deadline for that program is due early Feb so they need to get those acceptances out. I think if you interviewed at any time prior to January, you still have a great chance of getting in. Just my guess...

Maybe..so noone in December was competitive?

We have about 20 more business days until March 1st.

Would anyone be willing to post/PM me what the essays are for the 3-yr application?

(I realize it's probably a lost cause at this point, but I'd like to be able to get it together and submit if I'm lucky enough to be accepted in the next week or so. Besides, I feel like on SDN I have a license to be a littttle more neurotic than usual 🙂 )

Sure - they are:

1.) Please describe your motivation for pursuing a residency in [specialty], detailing how past experiences have shaped your desire to pursue this career path. (2500 characters)

2.) What do you believe the three most important qualities are that make for not only a successful [specialty] resident, but ultimately an ideal physician in this field? (2500 characters)

Good luck!

hey guys, quick question: has nyu completed their interview season?

At least that's what their twitter says.

Should I just give up on NYU? interviewed early jan but no response

I interviewed mid-January, so I haven't even been waiting for that long, but the wait is already killing me. It's been keeping me up at night, just like this...:scared:

i was complete end of nov (on thanksgiving i think), i interviewed jan 22, and i accepted my offer b/c i wanted to know more about the 3yr MD program. i listened in on the webinar feb 5, and i realized i am not interested, which is sad b/c nyu is one of the schools that has been really quick about their decisions. i will withdraw, hopefully my spot will go to one of you. good luck!

did NYU ever send out official pre-interview rejection letters?
