Scholarships for this year? I applied FMAT and received info about that, but the scholarship is for the 2nd year (once the FMAT program actually starts).

Same here! You were accepted for FMAT as well I'm guessing?! Yes and I haven't received any other information about other scholarships though. :/

Thanks for the response! I think they need to update the website; it has a lot of inaccurate information, as one of them says it is "limited to 10 students per year". I guess I shouldn't be worried.
 
I know that if accepted into the MD/MBA program, we do not have to take the GMAT for entry. However, do we need to take the GMAT afterwards to graduate?

I know for a fact that we have to do this for Tufts, which is the only other 4 year MD/MBA program.
 
So I interviewed at Tech in October, but haven't heard anything since. I'm OOS, so does that mean that I have a rejection? Anybody else in the same spot?

I interviewed in August and haven't heard anything either 🙁 i'm OOS also...

I think us OOS folks have a totally different time-line than Texans. I wouldn't rule anything out.
 
Well, its official! After a second look with my wife, we've decided that I'll be attending TT-Lubbock class of 2017! Can't wait to meet all of the future classmates.

Is there a summer program here for non-trads? I know some of the schools have one, but I don't remember hearing about it here, don't see anything on the website, and haven't gotten an answer back after emailing. All of this leads me to believe no, but I thought I'd ask current students.

Trying to plan ahead to see when my husband needs to leave his current job.
 
It's been pretty quiet on the TTL thread lately! I'm not-so-patiently awaiting next Friday, I'd really love to match here 😀

I've been thinking about that reapplicant seminar email that went out in October - did anyone that received that email pre-match? I didn't get it and am hoping that means good news for me next week...:luck:

I do not have any information about that email, but I just wanted to mention a couple of things about that seminar. I'm from Lubbock and actually attended this seminar in 2012 after my first attempt, and it actually proved very helpful. They brought in a couple of speakers from within different areas of admissions, all of which had pre-printed slides for tips and suggestions on creating a killer application. I actually enjoyed it and my confidence was somewhat boosted for this last cycle. All in all, I recommend it. Not to mention, the food is always phenomenal...😀

Has anyone heard any news about "Spring Training"? Sounds like it happened the end of April last year, and I'm looking at what I've got on my calendar already. (Crazy--but necessary--to be planning that far out!)

Did you arrange for an offical second look, or just head around Lubbock for a weekend? I was planning on taking a trip in spring with my kids to get a feel for Lubbock (and convince them that moving isn't all bad).

What is Spring Training? I haven't heard of this.

They're currently looking at dates for it and should have something nailed down soon. If anyone wants to know the dates they're currently looking at (which aren't set in stone) then shoot me a PM and I'll tell you.

ETA: Apparently they ran into a scheduling conflict with the date they were eyeballing, so I'm back to knowing nothing!

Just curious if anybody knows how many spots schools leave open for the match. Is TTL match heavy? Also, do most people get either their number 1 or number 2 in the match?

I don't know how many match, but when I interviewed there on 12/14 they said they had already sent out around 175 prematches...but you have to remember that a lot of those people prematched to multiple schools.

Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted to TTUHSC. I'm an MSI here and it's a great place to be! Our class and the class before us are full of really smart, hard-working, and nice people.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. I'm a non-traditional student with a family, so I can answer questions about that sort of stuff as well (buying a house, insurance, pre-schools, etc.). There are actually quite a few non-trads in our class.

Once again, congratulations - we're looking forward to meeting you at orientation and in August.
 
So I got a pre-match offer in December that I accepted (did all the paperwork and paid deposit) then I also got the FMAT scholarship (did all that paperwork too). I also ranked Texas Tech as number 1.

Then I check just now and it says sorry, you did not match at any schools.

WTF??! what does this mean? I am freaking out!!!

I am the EXACT same as you 🙂 it's okay! The FMAT is considered a "dual-degree" offer, so all that's different is one can hold multiple offers (if one of those is a "dual-degree") until may 15. These dual degree offers run on a slightly different timeline (as stated by admissions at ttuhsc). So the match goes on without that school's ranking (which is why we were matched to a second school). You should be receiving an email from TMDSAS about what to do. Since you stated you ranked TTU first, you don't want to attend where you matched, correct? If so, you will be required to email the school you matched to today, requesting to be withdrawn. You won't lose anything from TTU 🙂 I did all of this early today, freaking out every second I might add haha. Good luck and can't wait to have you in class!

Ha I see! Well, from what they told me, you're safe, no worries. But i'd call admissions on Monday, Louis will be able to help and let you know if there are any steps to take. Hope all goes well.
 
Matched here as #1 choice for the MD program, but I'm still waiting for the MBA application. Can somebody please tell me when the MD/MBA program begins? I emailed Ms. Davies, but she has not responded yet.

I'm not in the MD/MBA program, but I asked my friend who is. They started last year at the end of May.

Thanks! I hope what another poster said was true....I should just assume that I'll get into the MBA part. They still haven't sent me the app yet and it will probably be at least a few weeks before I'm accepted, leaving me with only 2 months to get everything in order. Oh well.
 
I know that someone matched into TTUHSC (MD/MBA program, Got Em), but I just wanted to check to see if other people had matched here. I did not get matched and I haven't heard anything back from them about a waitlist/pool so I was wondering if anybody else had. Thanks!

I'm not sure how this works, but it's been made "secret," so you may not be able to see it? There was a post saying once they get the official class list, they will send out invites.
 
Spoke with Donna from the HOM office today. She stated that a 2 week MANDATORY orientation starts on 5/15/13 for the MD/MBA program and classes will follow starting 6/4/13. Wow. This is extremely early. I've heard multiple people state it was late May or early June.

Can somebody that's already in the MD/MBA program please verify?
 
Would anyone be able to comment on the typical movement off the wait list? Thanks
