This is an odd question, but can anyone tell me about parking options for medical students at UK? I tried to look online, but could only find undergrad info.

I was wondering the same thing. Is the parking garage across from the hospital our only option? I could see that getting pretty crowded during the week.

Merit scholarships were announced by phone. I called out of curiosity but didn't get a call myself. It's possible that some could open up when people drop seats as well.
I just got a scholarship phone call tonight so don't give up hope yet.

Thanks for the update! I was told not to give up hope but that most of the initial calls went out Tuesday morning. I'm sure the money will shift around as people accept/decline offers. Congrats to you! Also, I should be clear that I was referring to the merit scholarships only. Not certain if they're all announced in the same pool or separately.

Is it true that they don't give merit-based scholarships to people accepted through Early Decision application?

Hi, actually the parking passes for 1st and 2nd years are for what's called the K-lot, which is near the stadium. There's a shuttle bus that takes people from the parking lot to the hospital. Parking in the hospital garage is for staff and patients; if they notice you're a student who parks there regularly, you can get a ticket unless it's during the weekend.
Regular street parking is free after 5pm so some people choose to park further away and then move their cars after 5. Unfortunately, the parking situation is not the best for students.

Hey yall, what's the turn around time after the interview to get an answer for OOS (neighboring rural state)? My friend has an interview here in three weeks and would like to know. She would also like to know if she realistically has a chance this late. Thanks 🙂

I think that varies so much that any guess would be just that - a guess. At this point in the cycle, it would probably be for a waitlist spot.

Indeed. At this point people will have to wait until may for an answer that isn't a rejection or waitlist. However, Kentucky is trying to expand its class size by 20 this year and even if not they mentioned that people from the waitlist do have a decent shot at getting in as they are all considered worthy, it is just that UK isn't legally allowed to accept them because the class size is full. In May it opens up a lot as applicants make their decisions on where they want to go.

Thank you all, this was great info to know. Good luck to everyone!!

Can anyone suggest housing options near the medical campus that run <350/person?

There are several apartments on redmile that students seem to like. I live in a house so I'm not sure how good they are.

I think they are about 400 per person with all utilities, cable, and Internet.

+1 I'm really struggling to find a place to live/people to live with

Craigslist has been fairly helpful for finding places. Maybe try the FB group for potential roommates? I'm guessing another Admitted newsletter should come out soon too.

Thanks! I've been looking in that area.

Out of state is too expensive for me. I just gave back my acceptance today so someone can move off of the wait list. Good luck!

Does anyone know if this proposal got passed? They were supposed to find out around now I think....

Any news on the increase in class size that was supposed to be decided on in March?

+1 on that question. I sure hope it got passed...I don't see why it wouldn't.

From what I heard, UofK will likely hear back on the decision for increasing the class size before March 28th. This is why UofK has decided to have the next admissions board meeting on this date rather than follow the usual 2 week schedule. Hope that helps and good luck guys.

Has anyone come across the full 2013 match list for UK? I'm interested to see where current M4s matched this year.

I heard that from now on the only response we are going to hear from them is either a waitlist or rejection :-/ , but even that we probably won't hear anything until end of April....wonder if this means the class size increase didn't get passed....Anyone know for sure?

Congrats to all who have been accepted to the Class of 2017 and best of luck to those who are still waiting!

Any advice for applying for financial aid/scholarships? I've filled out all the usual FAFSA apps and have looked over some scholarships available for students as well. As on OOS student, I'm gonna get owned by tuition, which is comfortably upwards of $60k.

I was wondering if maybe a current student or someone with experience regarding the process could offer some advice and creative financial aid ideas.

I would be forever indebted to you...hahaha

Julie McDaniel, the financial aide officer at UKY, told me that any scholarship that you can apply for through the UK site will be sent to all who are applicable when the time comes. You could of course look around the web for other scholarship opportunities, but I've found that there aren't that many for post graduate schools. If you want more info you should email Julie, she is awesomely helpful.

Hey, I received an acceptance offer yesterday 😍 👍 👍 :zip: Hope the rest of you guys get an offer too!

Is this off a waitlist or a direct acceptance?
Congratulations.

I was waitlisted for 2 days, then accepted by phone. From interview to offer, it took about a month total, which seems to be the average for most schools. Anyways, good luck to you guys.

Just withdrew my acceptance today, I'm an out of state student so the cost was just too much for me, good luck to those still waiting!

Just got the alternate list email. Now 3 more months of waiting.

Same here. Did talk to admissions today, however; it was random that I called on the day that they sent out the email. Admissions seemed pretty optimistic and said pretty much if you're on the alternate list, don't lose hope yet. I just wish they would say how many students are on the alternate list and just exactly how much the class is over-subscribed. I hate getting my hopes up this late in the game. All I can say is thank goodness for back up plans. It could be worse.

Same here. Better alternate list than a straight rejection. There is still hope yet for us!

Also, you guys sent your filled out form to the email listed on the form right and not to the address we received the email from? Just wanted to double check.

I used the email on the form and have already received my reply.

Yea that's the one I sent it to. Did they email you back saying they received your response? I never got one back even though I accepted. I sent it after office hours though...so I think that may be why. Good Luck to you all 🙂

Yes they emailed back but probably because I specifically requested it in my message.

Interviewed 2/23. Got offer for alternate list (which I accepted) 3 days ago. The next morning I got called with acceptance offer and some money 🙂. Quite the fast turnaround.

Don't lose hope! 👍

Edit: I just realized this was my first post on SDN .. strong lurker

If you don't mind posting your MCAT, instate or out, gender and race I'd appreciate it. I'm also wait listed and just tryn to get a feel for where I stand. Thanks!

Agreed. Also wait listed and definitely curious.

GPA terrible or great depending on whether you count my first UG year (disastrous) or not 😛

So does this mean that the class is no longer oversubscribed since the waitlist is moving?

Great! Congratulations!

Just curious, you've good stats, which State are you from? Did you not get accepted to your State schools? I would think with your stats, you should have offers from your State schools.
