🙁

I'm sorry, that's not a very pleasant feeling, I know how it is... Here's to a good rank! 👍

There isn't one, but sometimes I really think that there should be. How did your interview go?

It went extremely well. Thanks for asking!

It was very conversational and relaxed. The 1-hour talk we had just flew by. He was familiar with my application, but asked only one or two questions about it. Otherwise, he was just getting to know me and he talked a lot about himself and why he likes working at the school. I had a very intimate feeling by the end of it. Both interview people actually were very welcoming and inviting. It's too bad that it takes 6-8 weeks to get a response. This is my top choice! I frickin' hope I get it!

Well that's good to hear, good luck to you! Yeah they told me that because of the holidays I might not hear back until mid-January... Plenty of time to build anticipation and let doubts run rampant. 🙂

More waiting!!! When did you interview?

Received my interview notice today. They did not provide me with much in terms of details, (i.e. who I will be interviewing with, etc). Is it acceptable to contact the school and ask who I will be interviewing with, or is that considered a bad faux pas?

Nobody know how long it takes from interview to decision?

6-8 weeks. Add holidays, so probably more like 9-12 you should hear back for sure.

You could try, but I am pretty sure they do this for a reason. They could give you the interviewers in that email if they wanted but they don't. You'll get it the morning of your interview.

I just met with a friend of mine who interviewed at U of MN last year. She told me you will get the name of your interviewer the morning of, but if you are in the first interview group, you likely will not have time to look them up.

I don't feel like knowing anything about the interviewer is all that critical to the interview itself... If you can connect with the interviewer on a personal and professional level in some way, regardless of what his or her field is, you'll probably impress them. They really did not come off as narcissistic in any way (like I said before, it's a very relaxed interview).

Not only that, but wouldn't you rather talk to your fellow interviewees and potential classmates than try to do a blitzkrieg review of your interviewer to impress them? 😀

In any case, good luck to everyone interviewing soon, and hopefully those who have interviewed hear some good news soon! 👍

A rather real world approach if you ask me...

They literally read questions off of a rubric and score you. The conversation can digress and be conversational, but it would be pretty hard to make a smooth transition into discussing their work even if you knew a great deal about them. I also have a feeling interviewers see right through this and are rarely impressed by it, especially at MN. MN didn't seem to have any egocentric faculty, or students for that matter.

I interviewed on November 8th. It feels like it's been longer than 3 weeks though. haha

Thanks. I was on Oct 22nd so I'm probably in for a long wait as well.

I think this is highly dependent on who you interview with. There are bound to be some bad eggs.

I finally got the secondary here. I'm excited about this school! They were the nicest people and the only school that showed interest in me during my last application cycle (I was put on hold pre-interview and then rejected).

II at 11 am today!

Submitted 9/26

IS, 32, cGPA 3.76, sGPA 3.83

Now I know what people mean when they become anxious after getting an acceptance call but are waiting for the admissions packet...

It's a strange feeling having confidence that the call was real, but then just a sliver of doubt creeps in that the call really wasn't for you--that it was for Jon Smits instead of John Smith...

I'm heeding my own advice here and doing my best to be patient... I realize others are probably experiencing a lot more legitimate anxiety!

haha yeah I had the same anxiety when I got my first acceptance.
Doesn't really seem "real" until you actually receive that packet!

Can someone help me out, I will be near the 6 weeks "post interview" stage pretty soon here.
Are there specific days that I should anticipate a phone call? Do they call you no matter what during the 6-8 week range, or are they sometimes silent?

Thanks!

Took a while for the packet to reach me after the phone call. I think it came 2 weeks after or something. Just be patient.

I think they can call you whenever I want. I got my phone call less than 4 weeks after my interview, totally unexpected. But I heard that it could take longer than 8 weeks for other people too. Those phone calls usually come when you least expect them, so just be patient.

Congrats!! What's the earliest open interview date?

The dates they offered:

Thursday, December 13
Monday, January 7
Thursday, January 10
Friday, January 11
Thursday, January 17
Friday, January 18

I took the first one. I actually work in the same building and poked my head in admissions to get a general update on where they were at. The woman asked for my info and said mine was 'out for review.' Two hours later I had an invite in my inbox! Squeaky wheels get oiled I guess haa

May I ask your stats??

You will be interviewing with me then!

Do they accept pre-interview updates for significant accomplishments since AMCAS and the secondary application?

My understanding is that they do not accept pre-interview updates, but I could be mistaken.

Has anyone who interviewed early October received a call yet regarding admission?

Has anyone who interviewed early October received a call yet regarding admission? I interviewed Oct 18th, and it's been more than 8 weeks...

I also interviewed on Oct 18 and it has been quiet on my side. I don't think it is 8 weeks yet, probably going to seven weeks now.

You'll have to specify which school you're talking about...

But if you're asking about UMN, I interviewed October 1st and heard back on 11/20.

I called the office yesterday. She said they have two more meeting before Christmas so there is a good chance I should get an answer before the holiday. I interviewed on Oct 22nd.

That's great news!

Hey guys, my friend was waitlisted here (UMD), the words they used were "although favorable, the admissions committee has placed you in the aceptable category" has anyone received a waitlist like this? Any advice? Is it worth it for him to send an LOI? He has an interview tomorrow at UMN-TC, so his stats are decent and hes IS... Thoughts??

Is that for twin cities?

That's just how WL emails are written. It's a nice way of saying, "we like you but not enough to accept you at this time." Most schools will tell you in the email if they don't want you to contact them. If they don't give any instructions about updates then he/she can probably send one.

He said this was worded differently than when he was waitlisted previously with the U... so I was checking to see if anyone has received this specific wording...

Just got the acceptance call!!!!!! :highfive::highfive::highfive::highfive::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

Interviews on 11/01 OOs !!!!!! stats are on MDapps
