Anyone hear back from the MSTP yet? I havent had any correspondence since they received my primary and my letters have been cleared by AMCAS for over 3 weeks now. Any advice?

there is a form you can fill out online, if I remember right, you have to mail in the form with a check

I am In State and the only reason I am worried is because I have one interview so far from UTMB. Nothing yet from any other Texas schools.

Count your blessings buddy.

Sittin' at 0 interview invites so far. My friend just got an interview to El Paso today, they are rolling out slowly but surely. It is still early in the season, stay positive.

My application transmitted 8/28 and this is the only Texas School that I haven't received an e-mail confirmation. Is that normal or indication of a silent rejection?

Yeah definitely don't freak out yet, it gets worse because I interviewed at UTH last Friday the 14th and both my interviewers were extremely nice, but I could not get a good read on either of them. They had the best poker faces in the world so now I am just going over all the things I think went wrong in the interview because I couldn't read them at all. But definitely an awesome school and my First choice.

I didn't think my UTH interview went well, but it obviously worked out. Don't worry so much about it, just try to improve for your subsequent interviews if you can.

It probably takes them close to a month to process your app. I didn't get a confirmation till over a month and a half after mine was transmitted.

Same here , 09/14, both interviewers were poker facing circles around me. At the end of the day, there was no telling.... It wasn't however a complete fail. UTH and TMC were simply amazing.

This is exactly how I felt. Now it's just a waiting game.

On another note, maybe some of the students have some insight on this: I have heard that UT-Houston tends to hold back on prematches (as opposed to some other schools that fill up a good portion of their class with prematch offers), is this accurate?

I have heard this in the past; however, I personally know of at least a half dozen people who prematched into UTH just within my (relatively small) major last year, so it's hard to tell if this is actually the case.

I'm not a student here but I think, while in comparison to other schools, they probably hold back more on prematches, they are tending to fill more of their class pre-match now than they did before. At least it has seemed this way over the last couple of years. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Got the confirmation e-mail this morning with all the red in it. Thanks everyone.

Thanks for the input guys, much appreciated

I don't work for admissions but a few of my friends here pre-matched, a much larger majority of them (including myself) matched here, and many of my friends got in off of the waitlist in May. So yes it might be true that they prematch much less of the class relative to other schools, cannot say for sure though.

Just be patient because it is a LONG process. I also thought I had a bad interview here and got in, so don't put too much importance on post-interview feelings. Best of luck and don't give up! We're preparing for our 1st block week next week and I still love it here.

Just received an email for an interview on October 19th. I'm excited for this school. Can anyone tell me what the Houston area is like?

Do you mind sharing your stats? Im still playing this waiting game... 🙁

Congrats man 🙂 . Houston is a big metropolitan city that is spread out for the most part. Traffic will be an issue if your not from a big city so I suggest to plan your travels accordingly. I live about 25 miles from this campus and it takes about 40-50 minutes to arrive (leaving my house around 6-7am). In October the temperature averages around the mid to high 80's so that shouldn't be an issue. To blow off some steam after the interview you can head over to any entertainment venue around the rice village or midtown area. Any other houstonians are free to chyme in!

I'll go ahead and second this, especially about the traffic. I left very very early for mine because I didn't want to risk getting stuck in bumper to bumper traffic on I-45. It gets packed and it isn't fun. I left my house at close to 6 (I live about 25 miles away) and managed to beat the worst of the traffic. It was slow for a while but moving, which is what matters.

If you do swing by Rice Village, go to Ruggles! Their red velvet cake is out of this world.

Oh, and congrats on your interview, def1

Thanks guys. I've drove around dallas and LA before so Im aware of how big city traffic can be so I do plan on making sure I hit the freeway early.

Thanks for the info about Rice Village, I will definitely go check it out.

Received my II on 9-20 for 10-19. I'm interviewing at UTMB that day so I'm trying to reschedule. I sent an email asking if they could reschedule me for any other day but have not heard back. How long does it normally take for them to respond about rescheduling?

I received an II on 9-17 for 10-5 and also had to request a different date due to a conflicting interview. I got a bit nervous after not hearing anything two days after my request. Called the admissions office and was told I should receive a response by a week from the initial invite email. Got an email response on 9-21 and they were able to reschedule me to 10-19. Hope this helps!

Congratulations on the intetview. When did yor application transmit if u dont mind

I'm still waiting for an interview invite. I got the confirmation email with a lot of red back on July 14th and have already interviewed everywhere else in Texas back in August/early September, but still no word from Houston! I'm a little hesitant to contact their admissions office since it's still kind of early, but what do you all think?
My stats are: IS, cGPA: 3.89, science GPA: 4.0, MCAT: 35R

I am in the same situation. I have very similar stats and received the complete email in mid-July. I've heard back from the other UT schools and Baylor. I would love the opportunity to interview at Houston! I'm very hesistant to call or email admissions because of the email we received back in July... I guess we just need to be patient.

My stats are not as high as yours but I kept getting nervous because I have interviewed at several Texas locations but Galveston and Houston are holding out on me. Maybe there is just some random bad luck in the system where completely qualified and deserving candidates will not get to interview at some select schools. Honestly your stats are great and you will most likely get into medical school. You may not interview at each school though.

Utmb is def biased towards high gpa, i havent seen any non-urms getting interviews if there gpa is lower than a 3.7, utmb has a slightly lower mcat score than the other mid tier texas schools bit its gpa is also slightly higher than ut h and utsa

Come on Houston, send some good news my way!

It seems there has been very little activity in the Texas threads lately...

Its quiet...too quiet...

Maybe they're cooking up a big batch of interview invites hehe :meanie:

I'm really sad about how quiet in texas it has been this week. Seems like utmb is the only school that sent out invites this week and maybe tcom. I'm really hoping some school sends out invites today!

I have interviews in other Texas schools, but till waiting to hear from Houston and UTMB. Wonder what is taking so long? 32N, c3.84, s3.91, good, diverse ECs IMO.

I have an interview here this Friday. I've heard the interview day here is pretty relaxed. I hope that's the case. I'm a bit nervous lol

The interview was very relaxed. Houston had my favorite interview say so far, just because it was pretty un-stressful and the student body seems so enthusiastic

Still hoping for an interview here as I'm from Houston. Hope they show me some love this week.

Same here, man. I wasn't confirmed that early & I haven't yet interviewed at all Texas schools, but I have invites from every school in Texas except UT Houston. Maybe Houston will come back to our apps & invite us later, but it seems that they have, at least for now, passed us up.

Come on Houston, show me some love! I want to go here so bad.

Hey guys!

I'm currently a 1st year at UT Houston and first of all I want to congratulate all of you for having completed your MCATs and making it this far. I just finished my first block exams last week so I have some free time that I can use to help answer whatever questions you guys may have.

Here's a little background about me as an applicant:
MCAT: 34Q
GPA: 3.7
In-State
Interview date: September 9, 2011
Acceptance date: June 13, 2012

I remember my interview at UT Houston being the most relaxing. You will be just fine. I will be present at the interview lunches this Friday so I may be able to wish you good luck in person.
