I have AT&T and I live in Seattle with no problems. Friends of mine swear by Verizon. I guess coverage will vary more outside WWAMIs biggest metro area, but I don't have any insight on that.

I have a question I forgot to ask yesterday. I need to get a new phone very soon (the mic in mine is busted & I can't have voice conversations) - I might switch providers since my contract is over. Who is best for voice & data throughout the WWAMI region, Verizon or AT&T?

Never had problems with Verizon. I know people with AT&T and they never had problems either. I think you are fine with either one.

Rejected post interview today! It was a reach school for this out of region applicant anyways. And I felt my performance during the interview was probably the worst out of my interviews (maybe even worse than my ridiculously tough downstate one)

Being under consideration, I feel I should be fighting for my spot in the 2013 class. So, I plan on writing a letter of intent which will include some updates on stuff I have been doing since I submitted my primary in June. I am in the process of securing an additional letter of recommendation from a physician I am currently shadowing.

I was reading a thread somewhere that it's recommended to try to get in touch with your interviewers to ask if there is anything else you could do to make yourself more competitive. Is this a bit much? I mean, I was able to search for my ExCom's number and email address, but now I'm wondering if that would be unprofessional.

For those of you who are "under consideration" what do you plan to do to keep your profile fresh in your ExCom's mind?

*Edit: Was definitely advised against getting in touch with EXCOM. Also, the fourth year I spoke to (whom has been involved in the admissions process) recommended I wait until January to send a letter of intent. I guess at this point, I can only hope I don't get rejected before then, which is my main fear.

I have ATT and I'm fine here in Idaho/Washington WWAMI land

Verizon is known for the greatest coverage. While backpacking last summer about 30 mins from Cascade, Idaho, my three other friends had different providers and no service as soon as we left town. I had service the entire hike and one bar at the top of the mountain. For that and many other times, I stand by Verizon.

But, I've heard AT&T has a much faster network due to updated technology in transmission towers (source: computer engineer)

Whoa, that was fast. Interviewed last week...just got an email saying there was a "divergence of opinion" in the committee. Second interview invite. :scared:

More common than you think, several of my classmates had that happen and were accepted!

I sure hope so! I guess it's time to up my interview game. I also slept TERRIBLY the night before my UW interview due to an air mattress malfunction...so there's that.

GoZags, are you referring to the group of 20 in Moscow, or the E-2012 UWSOM class as a whole? I know several of your classmates (of the 20) and wasn't aware that any of them had two interviews.

Sounds like you got lucky in a way. At least you get a second chance at the interview and didn't get a post-interview rejection. Best of luck!

I know, seriously. I get a do-over? I'll take that. I'll be back in Seattle in 3 weeks!

Got an interview invite today!!!🙂🙂🙂🙂

Are there any Idaho residents invited for an interview who know the date of their interview yet? I received the invite last week, and I am just wondering if anyone has an idea of when I may expect to hear about the actual day. I'm just so antsy!!!😀

Hey smccreery86, congratulations on the interview invite to the Idaho WWAMI program. The majority of applicants from our state have already been cut, so pat yourself on the back making it this far.

I received my invite through email in late September. I have not received any update since then; however, after reading the previous thread, I noticed that interview invites last year didn't even go out until December for Idaho residents, and those invites had specific dates, I believe. So I wouldn't be expecting a solid date until next month. I do know that the range of dates is from Jan 7 - Jan 12 in Boise (refer to the email), and sometime in February for the Idaho Seattle interviews. I chose the Boise preference, so if you are interviewing in Boise, I look forward to meeting you!

Congratulations to you as well, and thank you for the information. I guess I will attempt to wait patiently for another month.I also chose the Boise interview preference. So, here's to hoping for the best for both of us!

It's been almost 2 weeks since my interview and this whole "patiently waiting" thing is getting exceedingly difficult!

Try interviewing in October and not having a decision made...

I felt like it went well. After beating it to a bloody pulp in my head the past 2 weeks there are obviously things I feel I could have answered differently/better but overall the interviewers made me feel comfortable and it went by smoothly.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, there's no way you'll walk out of an interview that involves an ethical role play feeling as great as you might leaving a more conversational interview. I know I felt awkward about mine.

anyone else interviewing 11/20? im starting to get a bit nervous...
Any major advice from those already interviewed?

Alaska WWAMI interview invite! I've been complete since 9/25. For financial reasons this is my top choice school.

Rejected preinterview:
Washington resident, 3.7 35M
UW was my #1 I'm not sure where I went wrong.

Sorry to hear . Those are stellar mcat and gpa. Out of curiosity, did you do a lot of shadowing and volunteering?

Wondering this as well, certainly not numbers keeping you out.

Not a large amount as I didn't decide decide on a career in medicine until the end of my sophomore year. About 80 hours of shadowing across a few specialties and around 100 hours of clinical volunteering. I had some other volunteering experiences, 2 years of teaching experience and 2 years of research.

How much volunteer work with the underserved do you have?

UW seems to be tougher to get an interview this year for in-state residents.

I don't know if any of you watched the Apple Cup, but go Cougs!

I'm not sure that I can say I really had any. The majority of my volunteering time has been working with kids in my local children's hospital and coaching youth and high school football.
