In another email, not the one containing the link to your secondary, there is a link to a "check my status" page

Well maybe I'm missing something, but the only emails I've received were "secondary invite" and "file complete" emails. The first had a link to the secondary, and the second didn't have any links included.

Did u get an email from
Wake notifying you that they received ur primary app

I'm pretty sure I posted the link to the status page somewhere in this thread. Actually I know i did so if you can't find it in your email I'd look here. The link for checking your status is buried within the very first email they sent you about how they received your primary.

Haha yeah things get lost pretty easily in all of the long emails schools send us.

I was referring to the one that notified us about their receipt of the primary. It has a status link in it.

Anyone know what their interview is like!? Interview for Nov 2nd!

It's three, 15-minute, one-on-one interviews. It was probably my best interview performance, and they are rather relaxed. My interviewers were all very friendly (2 MD's, 1 PhD), and they definitely responded positively to excitement about the school. The interview group was the smallest out of any of the 10 interview days I experienced, with only 6 interviewees. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience during my Wake Forest interview day. Good school, nice location (IMO). There's some great hiking/scenic areas nearby, so check it out if you're into that kind of stuff. I went to Pilot Mountain right after the interview day ended. It was only about a 30-minute drive, if I recall, and it was beautiful.

Thanks! This is really helpful.😀 I remember not finding anything about their format on the website.

I see in your profile that you got accepted to a number of very good schools. I'm assuming since you posted on Wake's thread that you chose to matriculate there. If so, why Wake? If it's the contrary, it'd still be nice know "why not Wake"?

to those who received interviews, were you notified via e-mail or phone?

Guys!

I know this is probably nothing to some (and it's kinda late in the game?) but I just got a secondary invite today and I am STOKED! Haha. It feels good to know you might have a chance!

I also have a question. On the personal statement section of the secondary, how necessary is it that it is to be filled out? Did all of you guys who got II wrote in it?

Most definitely filled it out.

I got an II and I did not fill out the optional question. I did write a very person answer to the greatest challenge question though so I felt the optional essay was maybe a little pointless unless I wanted to say why Wake, but figured I leave it blank and save that for the interview if I got one or an update if needed.

Same. Left personal option blank.

I got an II without doing the optional question

II and question left blank here as well

Still waiting :/

went from under review ... hear back in 1-2 weeks to complete, interviews are from sept-march. Sounds like you either hear back within a week for an II or otherwise, it is going to be a waiting game. Really really hope to get an II from here, love Wake.

+1 had the same status change. Wonder how bad that is?

From reading through the forum, it seems like those who had this status change received an II within 5 days. Then there are others from last year who basically were put on hold from this status. Hope we get some love!

I've been complete for over a month and I have never had any status other than "your application is complete." Maybe I just missed the "under review" at first, but I don't think so.

Not all. I've had this status for a long time.

mwall003 didn't mean you actually get a hold status, just that having the Interviews are from September to March status is basically the same as a hold status as no one has moved from that to II after 5 days.

👍 Yes, this is what I meant. Thanks for clarifying, sorry if there was any confusion.

Just checked my status after seeing everyone's posts and saw an II! Haven't received an email, but I'm so excited! This is the first time I'd used the status check so not sure what the status was before that.

Complete 8/29, OOS
MCAT 39
cGPA ~3.6

Good luck all!

I just checked my "you are complete" email from Wake Forest, and it has the "interviews are form September through March" status, and it has not changed since then. So I was automatically put on hold as soon as I was complete?

That happened to me and then I got an interview invite the next day so it's not necessarily a bad thing!

I had the same status in my 'complete' email a few days ago, but just received an II today via the online status check. I don't think the email is a hold, I think that's the automated email sent to everyone. I think it matters if you get that 'hold' status on the status check website after it showed your application was being reviewed.

I am a reapplicant to WF. In 2011-2012 I received a secondary but not an interview. Does anyone know the essay questions for reapplicants under those circumstances...assuming I get a secondary because I have strengthened my application tremendously.

I would assume they are the same questions that every other applicant filled out this cycle regardless of reapplicant status, not sure on this though.

II! Checked status page this morning. Complete 8/29

Did you then call to set up an interview or are you waiting for the email? I would like to reserve plane tickets as quickly as possible....

I called before getting an email and it was fine. I thought it may have been a little awkward when I asked what days they interviewed on though cause the email clearly says Monday through Friday, but not having that I did not know lol. So just know that and if you can only interview on Fridays or something, just ask when their next open Friday is and they'll set you up.

I posted the link for it in here several pages back. Someone quoted it really recently who was looking for it too.

So I called admissions this morning to ask about my application, and she said that if I am really interested in the school, that I could send a letter of interest. Two hours later, I sent one, and this is the response I get:

".we have received your application update and made note to your application file. We appreciate your interest in Wake Forest and wish you well in the admissions process."

Doesn't sound like they're too interested in me!
.

interesting info thanks! I was complete 8/21 so I think I'll send a LOI in about a month if I still don't hear from them ...good luck to u! It seems like an automated letter...so stay positive!

I'm at Baylor now. I just like to give whatever advice I can. Wake is a fantastic school (and it was tough to turn them down, because I had a great experience there), but Baylor will be significantly less expensive, and it fits me better, overall.

I think I just hit my "hallucination stage" of med. school neuroticism.

Last night, my dream played a cruel trick on me. I got an interview invite from Wake Forest, but then I woke up... -_-"

Hey guys, long time lurker at SDN, first time poster.

I just recently got the "completed" status that is basically putting you on hold. Looking at the older application threads, people who called in sometimes got interviews as they were in the top 10% of applicants. When I called, the lady seemed to just read directly off my status update, which was depressing 🙁. She did say they were still looking at my app, which is weird considering I got the "completed... we give interviews until March" status.

I was wondering, if anyone else has done the research, how long people waited before calling did they receive a "better" status update when calling. I recall that some people did get a "you may be considered for interview and if you would like to, please send us a letter of interest" kind of thing." But I got nothing like that when I called. So I want to make sure the next time I call, I get more in depth information about my status, but I don't want to call every week and bother them.

+1 for your username. However, as many have posted on this threat, they have had the completed status, we invite from sept-march e-mail for a week then received an II. Looking through last year's thread, it is apparent that there were some who received this status early fall and received an II in early spring. It's not a rejection status, keep the hope!
