i can definitely sympathize.. im a UMich undergrad but Wayne is definitely where I want to be next year too.

Fortunately, I got into MSUCHM which is awesome, and the more I look into the school the better it seems, but a large part of me wants to get off that alternate list too..

mediocre stats, 28Q and a 3.7, but you gotta keep that hope alive 👍

I was told the same thing earlier in the cycle when I called, although I personally know of people this cycle who were alternative listed, then accepted at a different acceptance day.

This happened for me. Was waited listed first acceptance day in October, but accepted at the end of November. Movement will occur in may though as people holding multiple acceptances will have to make choices.

Wait what is this about April 10th? I got alternate listed today as well, but my email didn't say anything about another round of offers coming out that day...neither did the paper that they gave us at the interview

Just said the committee was unable to complete the process as anticipated, and that they will interview through April 5 and the last tound of offers will be April 10.

For OOS students like myself, the price tag is definitely a big shock. It's great to be in a position where you can make a decision though, congrats!

I doubt it means anything rejection/acceptance wise. Just means they have one more release date.

I wish that were the case. However, some have stated that they've been accepted or waitlisted on March 27th, which was suppose to be the last round of notices. There has to be a reason why some of us have to wait until April 10th. Or maybe I'm just paranoid and tired of waiting!

I honesty think it means even worse for us on the waitlist. They're going into another week of interviews, I mean if they needed more people couldn't they just pick from the already long waitlist? Maybe the people on the waitlist aren't good enough and they're going another week to find others. Doesn't sound too good to me.

I heard they had to reschedule some interviews last minute, so the extra week is for the postponed interviews.

I know we're all getting anxious but I am really hoping that we all hear good news April 10th! Although I am pretty sure wait-list movement won't pick up until after people withdraw.

I wish they made the cut-off earlier than May, because we all need to figure out our plans for next year and I hate last minute change of plans and decision-making.

I don't think an extra release date is a bad thing at all. If they didn't add April 10th, then all of us alternates wouldn't hear back until May at the earliest. This gives us one more potential day for good news. Also, no one outside of people in the admissions office really knows why they added this date. It could be for a ton of reasons, and I don' t think there's any evidence out there for us to assume that we're not good enough and it's a guaranteed rejection.

If they didn't consider us serious candidates, we would have been rejected after the interview, not wait listed.

In light of all this negativity on here, MAYBE the extra couple of weeks is needed to go through the wait-list more carefully to see who they want to accept for this last round! I mean think about it... its only one more week of interviews which is about 10-15 more people max. Do they really need all this additional time to evaluate only a handful of candidates?

The fact that we all got an email saying to lookout for April 10th's email is a good thing in my opinion because I feel like they will be specifically looking at their alternative list for this next round of offers 🙂

i just assumed that they sent that message to everyone that was still on the waitlist from previous dates. and also, from what i heard they give you a rank after your interview and it just stays the same. so do you guys really think theyre evaluating the waitlist at all?

I don't think they're evaluating the wait list. If jaywags234 is right and they had to reschedule interviews, then that explains the extra release date. They can't release final decisions to kids who haven't even interviewed yet. It also wouldn't be fair to those with rescheduled interviews if Wayne filled almost all their spots on the March 27th release date before they even interview. The kids who received acceptances on March 27th were probably ranked very highly and were going to receive an acceptance regardless of this last week of interviews. The admissions office is probably just giving everyone fair consideration which is actually pretty cool of them.

I was put on the alternate list March 27th, and there was no message about April 10th in my e-mail. I think April 10th was only mentioned in follow-up alternate list e-mails. My friend was put on the alternate list in February, and he received that e-mail saying his status hadn't changed and there would be another release date April 10th. My e-mail only had a little paragraph about the decision date with the attached pdf.

if you got that message, then that probably bodes very well for you since you must be very near the top of waitlist. especially if others received their first waitlist email on 3/27. good luck!

I finally have an interview at Wayne State this upcoming Wednesday April 3rd. Crazy huh? I couldn't believe it. I already paid my deposit at another school that I'd be very happy to go to but an acceptance from here would make me very VERY happy. I'm an in state student living about 25 minutes from campus. Congrats to everybody that was already accepted!!

I don't really think the message about the April 10th release date has anything to do with how high or low you are on the alternate list. I believe students who were given a decision on 3/27 simply received the standard email with attachment of the decision. For us on the alternate list, we get a separate email each decision date (mine always says no status change, lol), but in this email it stated the extra release date. I believe they just forgot to mention this in the decision emails and everyone should receive another email on 4/10, with hopefully good news.

As sandy mentioned though, it makes sense that the extra release date could be for more time to evaluate alternate list candidates. That, or maybe just to give a fair chance to the students being interviewed this week, truth is we don't know. Either way this gives us all another chance to be taken off the dreaded alternate list, just be optimistic! Good luck everyone!

Pretty much all of my friends who applied to Wayne were initially placed on the alternate list. They have all received acceptances, but I haven't. Hopefully, today is my day.

If you really have a 38, maybe they think you are just using them as a backup and feel that you'll probably just end up turning them down for another school anyway.

I'm not sure what "later in the process" means, but they did separate it from "after May 15th." Sounds like there's still a chance to hear back before May 15th (probably if kids give up their spots sooner than later). Thought it was interesting.
