i interviewed on the 2nd, did not receive my letter today. i do know that there were some of us from the 2nd that they didnt get to our files.

Interviewed November 5th and received the letter today. I am waitlisted as of November 8, and I am an in-state resident.🙁

do you mind sharing your stats? i'm surprised i didnt get a letter today since i interviewed the 2nd and i live in motown...

Okay thanks! It's so hard not to be impatient during this process haha hopefully we hear something by Saturday.

thanks for sharing, now i feel worse. 🙁

Sorry about that, but its better than a rejection I guess. How long have you been in WV? I know that to be counted as in-state, you have to have lived here for at least a year. I ask that because I know you said in one of the threads that you recently moved to WV.

i have the residency application submitted to the admissions office. we moved due to employment for my spouse, so i am pretty sure i will get the waiver. i've been classified as IS by Marshall already.

still nothing today. i am starting to think that my residency status not being resolved is holding up my letter. :bang:

better than i decline i suppose, plus, it is still early and i have one more interview result to go. :highfive:

Hey I called the admissions office and left a message to confirmed my interview. Do they email you confirming your confirmation to interview?

They never sent me anything after my confirmation call, but when I called she was in her office. May be a good idea to call on a business day just to make sure they got the message.

Has anyone else heard anything about the class of 2017 getting Macs instead if the think pads? I know they started that this yet with the OT and PT classes and someone mentioned they may be given to next year's med class in this thread. I would reallllllly love to get a Mac.

I cant exactly confirm this but my student host said that incoming classes may gets macs. I guess the administration is considering it at least, but the wvu website still says lenovo thinkpads: http://www.hsc.wvu.edu/its/HelpDesk/LaptopProgram/Default.aspx

If so I'll need to work on my Mac skills; I'm a PC guy hahah

I really hope it's true, the think pads they have are really bulky :x I may get a Mac anyway and just let the think pad collect dust 😛

Well either way it's good timing because my laptop is on the verge of crashing lol

the 3rd years who gave us our tour indicated it would be macbooks to the next incoming class

I have a question about the different campuses. WVU is my last place to interview and I'm really interested in the eastern panhandle program. When do you find out which campus you're placed at? I've been accepted to other similar programs (I want to practice in a rural area), so my decision of where to go would depend on what campus I was placed at.

You are notified which campus you'll be at in your acceptance letter. They said trades between students are pretty common during the beginning of first year so you're not necessarily stuck if you don't get what you want.

I'm guessing you won't have much trouble getting into the Martinsburg campus as it's a smaller town and I'm not sure many people want to move and work at a small hospital. I know someone who got in off the waitlist (ie: late in the cycle) and was given the eastern track and was pretty upset about it so if you want that you should be able to get it.

I never got a confirmation of my confirmation, but on my interview day my nametag was there just the same 🙂 .

Also, OOS, Waitlisted.
Letter Dated: 11/8

I don't think you'd have any problems getting the eastern panhandle option. I'd say most people will prefer to stay in Morgantown.

Awesome thanks! I hope the interview goes well; WVU is in my top 2!

How long did you work/live in WV before applying for residency? I've been working here full time since June, which means I have to wait until June 2013 to apply for residency, right?

we moved here 2 months ago for my wife's employment, not for school, so i was granted a waiver on that basis

Mountaineer12, can you tell me who the undergrad pre-med advisor is? i'm interested in going to talk to them about taking some courses in the spring.

thanks!

You're lucky! 😛 Thanks for letting me know.

WVU doesn't have a "pre-med" department or anything, there's a concentration, I think, but it's through the bio department. While I was there, we had 4 different advisors in the bio department (quite frustrating, let me tell you). I believe the last guy is still there, he was pretty good. I'll PM you his name and email address.
