Just withdrew from a 12/17 interview if someone wants to try to grab it.

Interviewing here on Monday. OOS. My first interview so far. Definitely a bit nervous. Those that have had interviews here mind sharing what sort of questions, general flow of interview?

it is a very short interview..30 min w two interviwers. unlike many of my other interview i was only asked questions on my app or about myself. very laid back, good luck!

Is there any wait list movement before may? or we basically have to wait towards end of cycle!

I will be interviewing Jan 18. OOS. I'm so excited! Anyone else interviewing this day? Any advice from past OOS interviewees on where to stay or any other travel suggestions? Anyone flew into Pittsburg or the Morgantown airport?

Great, hope my experience is similar. Did you use the Medstay program? I requested to stay with someone but haven't heard back if I have a placement, although I was assured they should definitely find one for me.

Hi! I flew into Pittsburgh. I've heard horror stories - several from my interview group - about renting a car (or rather, the rental company overbooking rentals) at PIT. One guy ended up having to take a 100 dollar cab to pittsburgh late at night and renting a car from enterprise there for about 350 because the PIT enterprise had no cars left despite a reservation. I would recommend the Grey Line, even though it has weird hours. Adapt to them and you will save big bucks and big worries.

Hello, I will be interviewing also in Jan and I will be flying into Pittsburgh. I have never driven in cold weather so I will be taken a bus to Morgantown. Megabus has several departures from Pittsburgh to Morgantown.
If the weather is not that bad and cars are available at a reasonable price, I could probably rent a car.

Megabus and the grey line of the mountainline bus system (Morgantown's city buses) go to and from Pittsburgh twice a day, each. They're both pretty inexpensive. Grey leaves from the airport, but you would have to switch buses/get a cab/ride the PRT to the health science center or your hotel. Megabus only leaves from downtown Pittsburgh so you'd have to take a can there, but it drops you off right at the health science center and there are a number of hotels in that area. Hope that helps!

the only carrier servicing motown is united, flying into pitt will open up your options quite a bit.

i was told by a reliable source that most waitlist movement really begins in may, however, i am going to speak with dr hazard next week and should have some additional info then.

Any news of when the committee is meeting next? I interviewed before thanksgiving but I haven't heard anything back yet.

I flew in to pittsburgh. The drive was a little over an hour but very easy! I rented a car with a gps system..it cost me about 90$ with gas included. I stayed at the hampton inn. It is literally across the street from where you have to park for the interview. And has free breakfast 🙂 Good luck with your interview!

I am flying into Pittsburgh also. Which rental company need you use? (that's a great price!) I was also considering the Hampton because of the convenience and included breakfast.

I used enterprise. I am under 25 so i was supposed to pay an extra daily fee but when i told them i was there for a school interview they waved it. try to mention it and see if it works fo ryou too ! I would def recommend the hampton..very clean and the breakfast was great.not sure how much other hotels are but since youll have a car you might be able to get a cheaper one a couple miles away..just a thought! good luck!

Oh I see, lol. That's how it was cheap...I am under 25 also and haven't found a price that low yet, but I will definitely mention my interview. Did you book with Enterprise directly or did you use a 3rd party website?

i used expedia..but you dont actually pay until you pick uo the car

ok, so there are about 30% more IS apps this year, and about 20% more apps overall. not even half of the applicants they will be inviting to interview have interviewed yet. very little to no waitlist movement should be expected before may 15.

Does this mean more interviews this year?

Has anyone used the medstay program? I forgot to email them and it's about 2 weeks until my interview...I hope they can find somebody for me.

I did. It worked out pretty well. The student I stayed with was a second year and was friendly and of course answered any questions I had about the school. The only trouble I had was finding her apartment since things weren't marked very well. I guess some students will even take you to their morning class to sit in on with them ( if you want).

waitlisted today. OOS interviewed nov 14th

Better than a rejection for sure, but the waiting game stinks... Good luck! Just curious, the day you interviewed were they all OOS? The day I went their was no instate students was just curious if they designate certain days for instate/outof state.

Thank you! I think the day I interviewed we has 3 OOS and like 4 IS? so it was pretty even, not sure if they meant to do that or not though? when did you interview good luck with your decision!

Got an interview date of Jan 24. Hope to meet some of you that day!

My screen-name for almost everything has been "Deanwvu" ever since my undergrad days back in Morgantown in the late 90's. Hoping I can spend the next 4 years back there!

On Monday, the 3rd. Not quite sure when committee meets again but hopefully I won't have to wait too long to hear something.

Will withdrew from WV interview invite because can't afford the OOS tuition, hope one of you guys get it. Good luck everyone! 🙂

Interviewed 12-3, got my letter in the mail today. Waitlisted.

I'm not looking forward to driving for 6 hours

Does any one know the percentage of interviewees that are offered admission? (not just the percent that matriculates)

I wonder how many OOS applicants are rejected vs. waitlisted after interviewing...it seems like most people are waitlisted and there aren't many rejections.😕

I interview 11/9 and was waitlisted the following week.

Interviewed there today. I really liked the school.

I interviewed same day as you and got wait-listed today.. letter is dated 12-12 though. OOS

The letterhead was dated the 5th, I wonder why the difference since we both interviewed that date. I wonder if anyone in our group got an acceptance since we were all OOS.

Hey guys. I just withdrew my acceptance. I'm an OOS applicant. I hope one of y'all that are waiting are fortunate to get spot. Goodluck everyone

Near the end of my interview they told me they would be meeting the next day (the 4th) and making decisions on files, maybe they got to yours first or just liked you better and wait-listed you first haha. Who knows. It seems like they meet on Tuesdays for decisions and send out letters on Wednesdays. Anybody have a letter that isn't dated on a Wednesday?

Also anybody OOS accepted outright and not placed on wait list? Just joined the thread yesterday so not sure if it has been discussed and 8 pages is too much to catch up on.

Thanks!

Yeah I think 1 or 2 people said they were straight accepted as OOS, but the vast majority of OOS applicants who've interviewed said they were waitlisted (me being one of them). My student host told me all OOS are waitlisted at least a short time after they interview, and most of the waitlist movement doesn't happen until spring. I sent an LOI about a month ago and they put it into my file so maybe that will help me when they start reviewing the waitlist. But until then it looks like we're playing the waiting game 😴

Boooooo! I am tired of the waiting game. Thanks for the quick response.

It's so weird though. Almost everyone (med students) I met were OOS. Our interview group consisted of 6 OOS and 3 IS.

Oh here's a fun fact my awesome host told me. Do you know why WVU has a 100% pass rate on their Step 1's? That's because about 20-30 IS students fail out because they couldn't handle med school. And he also told me there's only been 1 OOS student that's dropped out from his class.

I was, but I also applied early decision so I'm kind of an exception rather than the rule. I've been following this thread pretty closely and I think the person who posted right before you was only the 2nd OOS to be accepted and not waitlisted.

I think the class is like 30-40% OOS, which is a pretty large amount for a state school. That may have been why you encountered so many OOSers.

I interviewed end of November and was WL, OOS. My student hosts were all OOS and they were WL'd as well.
