Ahhhh I'm so eager! But I don't know if ill get a call today, I interviewed on Sept 20th
 
Just got my acceptance call from Dean Heinrich. couldn't be more excited to know I'm locked in somewhere

I actually got the call last night but didn't realize it because my voicemail wasn't set up lol. But yup ! I interviewed Sept. 3rd.

Dr. H called from the blocked number. I'm soo excited but relieved at the same time. Im definately going to NJMS. if anyone is wondering, I interviewed on 09/24.

For those of you planning to attend, NJMS class of 2018 facebook group

When you go to read your acceptance letters, it will be dated for the Thurs. or Fri. from the past week. I think its kinda funny, you were bugging out all weekend, little did you know that you had already been accepted.

Like I said earlier, NJMS committee meets every Thursday, that is usually the only day Dean Heinrich is on campus. By the time they draw up your letters and finalize it they wait till the Monday or Tuesday of the following week to call.

And for those of you who have yet to get "the call", remember Medical schools have until MAY to give you a decision. NJMS is notorious for accepting students really early though. Do not sweat it, there is always next Thursday.

O and remember sometimes they wait for your interviewers evaluation/recommendations. Sometimes you have no control. Remember the members of the committee are practicing physicians and active professors, they have some other important obligations to take care of. They only dedicate 1 day of the week for admissions.

I also had a September interview, and a second interview in October and haven't heard anything.

Are you a URM? I think that's what the second interview was for, because I'm a URM and my interviewer was in the diversity department. Although there have been applicants in the past on these boards who were not URM and came back for a second interview as well.
 
you second interviewers are giving me hope!

First interview was mid september and my second one was 10/7 and I still haven't heard anything.

Did you seconder interviewers by any chance ask when we'd hear back?

Has anyone received an admitted student packet yet?

I received mine last Saturday. Dr. H signs the letter and mails out the packet within couple days after you receive the acceptance call.

There's a two week deadline on the acceptance reservation form so you might want to call the admissions office after waiting for a few more days.

Ooo that packet, i was accepted beginning of september, already got that and sent it back.

I thought you were talking about something else, they send you like a health packet to fill out in like January or something
 
Does reserving a seat with the $100 mean we're committed to attend NJMS?? What if we change our mind later and choose a different school.

Refundable until May 15, the date that you have to give up all but 1 acceptance.

The acceptance reservation form says you have 2 weeks after the receipt of the admission letter to respond to the offer and submit the $100 deposit.
 
Has anyone received any more phone calls? I thought dr. Heinrich made calls at the beginning of the week :/

when did you interview? i interviewed 10/2 and i haven't heard anything yet either.

either that or they're still getting back to september people. i can't even imagine how much time it takes to call people individually. an email would have sufficed for me... lol
 
Haha.. I know right! I just wish I knew if the made calls for the September people at least..
 
Does anyone have an idea as to when the new wave of II's will get sent out?
 
I interviewed on 10/1 and got an email on 10/20 for a second interview on 10/24. My first interview was pretty relaxed, hoping the second one is the same. My first interviewer said I was his first interview of the cycle, so hopefully he was just a bit rusty and forgot to ask me some questions.

Second interviews are better than rejection letters.

Think about it. 5000 applicants...
Only 600 get interviews,
about 50% of those get accepted.

The fact that you got 1 interview, means you passed 2 initial screenings, and it means they like you, and you are academically qualified to attend their institution. Now they just want to know if you fit in with their values and image. (I recommend you go on the website and learn a little more about the school.) Guarantee one of the first questions they ask you is, "Why do you want to attend NJMS".

The fact you got a second interview means you were a split decision on the committee. Think about it you have 1/2 the committee on your side already... don't screw it up
