2013-2014 University of Miami (Miller) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yeah sorry if i caused a panic. You Email them the residency if you're In state. They dont make a big deal of mentioning it but my friend submitted his application a month ago and they did not process it because he never E-mailed his residency, even though the secondary said everything was complete.

I'm confused. Are you sure? I never did this, but I received an II. I wonder if I should do this before the interview 😵

I'm pretty sure it just says "If you are a Permanent Resident of the United States, you must send a copy of the front and back of your green card to [email protected]"
That's not for state residency. They don't receive funding from Florida anymore so it doesn't really matter. They might just give preference to people who live in Florida and I think they'll get that from your AMCAS.

What this person said lol. But be careful with the Email address, i noticed a typo on one of them that was missing an i in Miami so the email wouldnt send. Im still having trouble sending them my photograph and residency so im about to throw my computer out the window.

Oh my bad! I thought you were talking about IS residency not US residency...carry on 🙂

Haha sorry for the confusion... did anybody else have trouble submitting the photograph? I keep getting the email sent back to me with an error message about the university's inbox.

If you've tried multiple times I would try calling them to verify nothing is wrong with their email!

Does anyone know when the next batch of IIs will come along? UNDER REVIEW since Tuesday!! And very hopeful.

Lol that's nothing dude. I've been under review since the beginning of August.

Tuesday, like two days ago? It can be a slow process, relaaaaax 😛. Nobody knows when the next batch will come out, we would only be speculating.

Woohoo! Interviewing on Friday! Is anyone else interviewing on 9/20?

I'm super excited for UMiami, I hope they love me as much as I love them!!!!!
Good luck! :luck: I'm not interviewing until mid-October, but I'm still super excited about U Miami! Can't wait 🙂

Sorry if this has been posted before.... but is there like a hold status at this school or does one's status just remain"under review" until they are invited for an interview or ultimately rejected?

Thanks!

I would like to know this, too.

I think I've seen a couple people post here where their status was something like "your file has been reviewed. The process is from September - April ...etc." I guess that's the hold status. I'm not entirely sure though.

So is this a hold?;

Your application has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. At this time, a final decision has not been reached on your application.

I would assume so.

For anyone who has already interviewed here, can you give some insight to how big the interview group is? Like did 50 people show up for orientation or was it more like 10 or 15?
Just curious, thanks!

+1 on this and any other interview day tips.

Also, any tips on cheap hotels that are not in a neighborhood that I would fear for my life?

II this morning for MD and MD/MPH programs. Good luck all!

''Your Application to the UM Miller School of Medicine is complete and is currently being reviewed by the Admissions Committee.''

Been sitting on this for exactly one month as of today...

Miami must have sent out a lot of II today. When I went to sign up for interview dates for MD/MPH program, there were numerous dates available, but I still got my third choice. Not until December! 🙁 First option was for next week.

I've been sitting on that status for almost 2 months now..

Hello everyone,

I have a quick question. How long did it take for Admissions to update your status or send an e-mail saying that they received the photo?

Thanks!

Two days for me.

I think it was about 15

How do you know if your choices have been confirmed? Do you get an e-mail notification? I selected my 4 choices but haven't heard back regarding the exact interview date...

Yes and when you check back on the status page there are no longer 4 dates. Only the one you chose/were given. Hope this helps! :luck:

It does! Thanks to both of you 🙂

Hmm I'm not sure why they haven't confirmed my date though! I made my selection on Monday...:/ I still haven't received a confirmation e-mail. Hope nothing's wrong!

Can anyone provide info on how many MD & MD/MPH co-applicants get admitted to both or only one? For example, are you likely to get into the MD/MPH program but not the MD program? I realize data may not be available. Anecdotal is fine, esp from current Miami students. Thanks.

Just got the: "your application has been reviewed... Applicants will be invited for interview based on committee score.. Interviews will be extended from September to April" status. Anyone go from this status to REJECTION? Also, for those who went from this status to INTERVIEW, how long did it take you guys? Thanks!

Very nice touch that they send a confirmation email for the interview the day before. Big points for manners in my book. Just landed in MIA, and I'm super pumped to be here!

Congrats! Can you please report how everything went? I have my interview there next Friday.

And everyone else interviewing soon at Miller 🙂

Goodluck to you! Let us know how it goes 🙂

Do you guys know the percentage of interviewed candidates that get in? (i.e. If you get an interview, it is very likely you will get accepted?)

EDIT: Ah...seems like it's still not too likely 🙁
In-state: Interviewed (238), Accepted (90), 90/238 = 37%

Those are the matriculated stats. You need to use the accepted stats to get a more realistic number.

Can anyone who interviewed here give an overview of how it went?

bump..

Can anyone please share?

Yankee Bean,

Thank you so much for such an elaborate description of the interview day. It is ridiculously helpful 🙂. I hope they liked you as much as you liked them, and you get an acceptance come October 15th. Good luck with the rest of your cycle!

Any current students or folks that recently interviewed able to answer these questions?

Interviewing here tomorrow and Tuesday. Nervous, but super excited!
