So my interviewer at UM gave me his personal email card and I sent a thank you email to him the day after the interview. However UM also did provide a mailing address that we can use to contact the interviewer. Was wondering if it would be a good idea to send my interviewer a hand-written note or some chocolates or something.

I feel like giving someone a gift is a little too much???? I mean, all he did was interview you.

Can't believe I have to wait all the way until January 22nd after I interviewed back on November 15th..

So I interviewed Dec 2nd at UM. Decision will be made for me Jan 22nd. I'm waiting on a few grades to arrive.

I was wondering when would be an appropriate time to send an LOI.

1. Wait until I get my grades and send an loi BUT before a decision is made on my application?
2. Wait until a decision is made THEN send an LOI?
3. Send an LOI now before I get my grades and then send another update when I get my grades?

Appreciate everyone's help.

Letter of interest or letter of intent?

If the latter, I would wait until you have been notified of acceptance/WL. If the former (interest) I would wait for your grades, then send the update.

I sent a letter of interest/update post-interview and pre-decision. I am not sure what weight it held in their decision, but I was accepted - and I like to tell myself the letter swayed their minds away from waitlist and towards acceptance.

Actually, the waitlist is not set in stone. The way the dean explained it, everyone gets thrown onto a huge list and the top 20 gets accepted at each date. So even if you were not in the top 20 the first time around, if you are a stronger applicant than the new people interviewing, you can get accepted at the next date. You are reconsidered every time they meet to send out acceptances. There are 9 set dates for acceptances (one of the dates, they give out 40 acceptances instead of 20), and a "total of 200" acceptances from those dates.

However, the stats given on my interview day was as follow:
196 matriculated/337 accepted/497 interviewed

So there is a lot of movement even after the initial 200 acceptances from the 9 dates, another approx. 130 gets off the FINAL waitlist (more or less since some people withdraw their acceptance before May 15th).

So all in all, you have a pretty good chance of acceptance if you made it to the interviews! (More than 65%!!)

Just checked my status and saw that a final decision has been made. Sucks to have to wait till January 22nd when I interviewed all the way back in mid November

Miller has a decent contract with Spring Hill Suites (Mariott) - $99/night for a King size suite, and it's only a 7 minute walk from your bed to the interview building. Phone # is 305-575-5300. They also have a free shuttle between airport and hotel, complimentary breakfast, which you should have since the breakfast at the interview is just mini-muffins, coffee, and juice.

When I interviewed back in September the interview at the regional campus ended around 2pm. I left early but really wish I would have stayed. I was flying out at 5pm from Miami and was afraid I would hit traffic and I had to return a rental, but I was at the terminal two hours early...

With that said leaving early obviously didnt change my decision to attend 🙂 I still felt I knew what I needed to make an informed decision.

I'm in the same boat- I have submitted updates to them via their admissions e-mail address and have always gotten a response that my update has been added to my life. I would try that if I was you! Best of luck!

You can be accepted to both. I believe you have to give up one by mid February. (I don't remember the exact date).
I initially applied MD, but decided to add MD/MPH after my interview.

Yeah sunny hit it on the head. I applied to both, but I wanted the dual program the whole time so that is the one I am choosing.

A friend of mine submitted mid September with 34/4.0/IS/extra-curriculars etc.. and their status still hasn't changed from under review...
Anyone else in the same boat/Is this a bad sign for their app?
What is the best way for them to update their application, or find out why their application is taking so long?
