Just got accepted! Check your emails, everyone!

Application complete 8/1, interviewed 10/15, IS, 3.8 post-bac gpa, 32 MCAT

Congratulations!!! What kind of post-bac did you do? Also, I'm assuming the interview invite came via email?????

Thanks! I had terrible grades during my first two years of undergrad, and my GPA was not pretty so I took a lot of science courses for my post-bac (39 credits worth) to boost it up. And yes, the interview invite comes through email!

I did a post-bacc as well. I took 35 hours of biology classes, the second part of chemistry, and the organics. It looks like the superficial parts of my application are about like yours. My MCAT is the same and my post-bacc gpa is comparable to yours. My undergrad gpa before the post-bacc wasn't really that bad but parts of my transcript were pretty ugly.

Nice! Well, I hope you hear from Mizzou soon then! 🙂

Hold email here as well, but that is what I was expecting for first round! We are in this together now everyone!

Hold e-mail this afternoon. Hoping for the best from Mizzou!

Congrats! I bet it feels great hearing the news so quickly!

Anyone have any idea how many they took this month? I had assumed it to be 5, but Anita had mentioned that sometimes they have had months where they don't take any. How about how many interviewed this month? If the number is expected to trickle henceforth? The "holding" status threw me into a tailspin this week and has me crunching numbers and probabilities.

Well they took at least one (the lucky mk47) so I think Ms. Martin's approximation of 3-5 per month until March is probably correct. I would assume this will be about the norm at the end of each month until they accept their HUGE batch of applicants on March 22nd. As far as how many interviewed, we can only go off of the fact that they interview Mon, Wed, Fri and average about 4-8 people per interview day. So maybe around 80 people?

Allison did say she expected around 75, so you're probably close there. This whole rolling process is smart for the school, but damn does it ever suck for us.

Haha I agree completely. I would totally follow this method if I were setting up the admission process for my med school, but it is so so stressful from the applicant side.

Definitely felt a huge relief. Best of luck to everyone else, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you all!

Interviewed here just this week, and received an acceptance call from Allison tonight!! First acceptance!!! So surreal. This was a top school for me pre-interview, but the interview day made me like this school even more! I'm withdrawing my apps from many other schools because of this acceptance!

Numbers, or even in-state status doesn't mean everything. We were told during the day that our interviews play a huge factor in the decision, and I believe that is true. My numbers aren't exactly outstanding, but both of my interviews were amazing!

OOS, but I am a resident of a contiguous state. Complete early september. High 20s MCAT, but also had a high GPA. non-urm, traditional student

Thank you Missouri for relieving the stress of the waiting game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dang, they broke their usual routine for you, your interview must have been off the charts! Congrats!

Just recieved an II for Tuesday, November 26th! I am very excited for this one!

ii for dec 3! Complete early October. Quick question....do MD schools require a down payment like DO schools do? Thanks!

Hmmm, that's a zigzag step for them.

Yeah it was a stretch on their part, but it paid off. I'm 99.9% sure I'm matriculating here.

Mizzou was my 4th interview this cycle, and I had by-far the best experience here. Plus, I'd rather live in a smaller college town than a large metropolitan area, where 75% of other medical schools are (atleast the ones I applied to).

So I know they generally send updates on the last Friday of the month (I think that's what I saw), but with the last Friday this month being the day after Thanksgiving, do we think they will still send them that day or will they send them another?

Allison told me that they take off for the holidays, so we should receive an update sometime the following week.

This may have already been addressed, but do we need to send in a photo with our snail mail if we uploaded it electronically with our secondary application? It says at the end to mail in the fee, mail-in form, and photo.

I think you only send the fee and the mail-in page, which should already include your photo if you uploaded it.

II this morning! But it is scheduled for Dec. 11th, the day of my last physical chemistry test. The email says to do all that is possible to maintain this appointment, but due to other travel arrangements I will be near Columbia on the 10th, how receptive is the Adcom about actually changing an interview that was predetermined for an applicant?

Is tomorrow the day?! Someone please respond! Next week is Thanksgiving so I'm guessing they won't send out status updates over the holiday.

Ahhhhh!!!!!

It will either be tomorrow or the 5th, when I asked the admissions committee they said it could go either way.

Thank you! I really loved this school and the curriculum when I interviewed here, the student hosts just raved about the school and how awesome and unique their fellow classmates are. I hope Mizzou will take a chance on me! I have <3.5 GPA but, I think other aspects of my application would make me a good fit here. Oh please please please!!!!
Well...enough rambling, back to studying 🙁

When did you ask the committee? I interviewed there earlier this week and I thought they said it would probably be after Thanksgiving.

I asked them on Tuesday afternoon, they said they were shooting for this Friday, but it may not be possible. The only thing they knew for sure was that it WOULDN'T be next Friday.

That's exciting. I guess I'll spend the day checking my email every 15 minutes.

anticipating a long wait here. I had one nice interviewer, one kind of weird who grilled me. can't believe they only take five people each month :/

Same experience here. I had a stress interview with a foreign person who I could barely understand. The struggle.

same here. here's to another month of waiting! 😛
Good luck (to both of us)!!

Does anyone know when they start rejecting people? I've read in previous years' threads that the committee doesn't start rejecting until March, which seems a little silly to leave so many people waiting that long. 🙁

Same here as well. Do they reject anyone post interview or do they wait until March? Also, does every admissions committee member score each applicant on a scale from 1-25 and then they average the scores minus the high and low?

from what i understand, yes -- that's how the scoring works.

no one gets rejected post-interview until they've handed out all the outright acceptances, and then made the waitlist of people equal to the number in their entering class. the people that fall below that cutoff are those who get rejected.

I was told they start sending a few rejections in December, but the majority will continue getting status unchaged until March, when we will either get accepted or rejected.

interesting, i didn't know that. thanks for the info!

I interview here tomorrow and this talk about a stress interview is making me nervous. Hopefully I don't choke or it will be a painful hour.

I know it is different for everyone, but between multiple interview cycles I have had 4 different interviewers and none have been stressful at all.

So good luck and stay calm, you got this!

It's a bit early for this, but just fyi I was accepted off the WL (top third) 1 week before classes started.

This may be a dumb question...but is there a way to check your application status for Mizzou? They've been really great about sending e-mails with updates, but I was hoping there was a way for me to get online and check myself. Thanks!

Unfortunately not, but at least it keeps us from neurotically checking every 5 minutes.
