2014-2015 Case Western Reserve University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congrats!! Those with II, when were you complete?

I think last year those who applied to both tracks or just college track took longer to get II's. I think it might have been about a week or two later for the first ones.

I think you're right. Just perused last year's thread and found this:
Fwiw, anyone who applied to both UP and CP will have to wait a bit longer to get a decision at either. They try to release IIs at the same time to help with travel accommodations.

Whew. I applaud Case for being so considerate with their II scheduling.

Congrats on all the fresh IIs! You guys are bound to have an amazing time.

Not at all. Yes there may be a delay so that if you get both interviews, you can coordinate a single trip to Cleveland, but there is no effect whether or not you get in regardless of how late you interview, no matter which program it is. You never interview for the waitlist.

I just received a Case II, my first invite so far and first time applying to med school. I want to go to Case and prefer not to make it my first interview. But as a rolling admit school isn’t it better to interview earlier rather than later? Are you saying at Case, or generally, the interview secures the possibility of an offer no matter when you interview?

Congrats to those with IIs! When they say that ppl who applied to the college track take longer to review, I wonder how much longer are they talking.

As per last year's thread about 1 week before the first dual CT/UP IIs started to come out.

You will never interview for a waitlist spot at Case or CCLCM. The only advantage to interviewing early is that you find out earlier. For Case, I believe you find out within ~2 weeks of interviewing.

I believe the first interviews at CCLCM start the week of 9/8 so you should be hearing back soon.

While Case is rolling (in that earlier interview= earlier acceptance), they save seats for people who interview later. I was one of the later interviewees who got in, it also doesn't seem to affect merit aid.

i know this was probably asked earlier, but how specific were y'alls research essay?

When I applied (last season), I mentioned very few specifics. I gave a general overview of what I was trying to do and spent most of the space talking about skills I gained, things I improved on, what I learned about myself and the process of research.

How long did it take for everyone to be marked as complete after submitting the secondary? Thanks!!

I'm apparently late to this party but thinking of adding case to my list.

Can someone share the College track and university track secondary prompts? I saw some posted earlier, but wasn't sure that it was up to date and the first post doesn't have anything.

Thanks!

The prompts you saw on the first page are accurate

Thanks. I just started working on the secondary. I really wish I'd looked into case earlier. Seriously excited about the prospect of the college track.
These essays are going to kick my ass. Hopefully I can recycle the other secondaries I've already submitted. Hoping to get things in over the next week so the time frame is still reasonable. Starting to get a bit late now :/

Good luck! If you applied to Duke, I was able to recycle one of my essays from them.

Is it frowned upon to leave the optional scholarly essay and the optional additional info essays both blank? anyone else do this?

Haha, yup. I did. I had that secondary open as I was starting to brainstorm ideas!

Does anyone know when CCLCM interviews will be going out? The wait is so suspenseful 🙁

Submitted the secondary. That was a good turn around! Hopefully they'll be nice to me.

Also got the II for both tracks this morning!! 37/3.77

II received this morning for both tracks. Complete 7/29.

No wonder you have inspired your own penguin-cult. Congratulations on one of the most impressive cycles known to man!

Haha thanks! When I start interviewing it will be much less impressive I'm sure. I'm super awk irl.

Rejection at 8 in the morning lol (University Track). I thought I wrote the greatest essays for them. Oh well I guess they are just helping me keep my promise to never go back to Cleveland again.
