2014-2015 Creighton University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congratulations to everyone who received an acceptance today! Was it via mail or email?

Congratulations to everyone who got accepted!!!! Did any of you send in updates after your interview? How many?

Thanks!

11/14 interviewee who was also accepted today.

I submitted 2 post-interview updates: one was about my interview experience (and why I wanted to attend Creighton), and the other was about my non-medical volunteering commitment. Creighton values non-medical volunteering, and I didn't get a chance to really talk about my experiences during my interview, so I wrote the letter to get this experience across.

Good luck to all those who are still waiting!

I submitted one update. It was about two or three sentences about a non-medical volunteer activity that I did after interviewing.

So after paying the deposit, is there anything else we need to do to have my seat reserved? I want to withdraw from my other acceptances, but I want to make sure I actually have my seat reserved at Creighton before doing so.

The only other thing is to log-in to the portal and check off the stuff about campus preference for 3-4th year. But other than that the deposit reserves your seat!

Just popping in for those still waiting to hear anything. Anyone complete in August still waiting????

Comparing to the other thread from last year, things seem to be a bit different this year.

Has anyone been waitlisted or rejected? It seems like there's just a lot of silence, other than people who have been accepted.

Also, do any of the people who haven't heard back yet (and who interviewed all the way in August) have their letters down?

ACCEPTED as well. Couldn't have asked for a better Christmas present. Interviewed 11/15

We interviewed on the same day! And I couldn't agree more, this just made my Christmas.

Wishing everyone else here some great news! Hang in there, guys. =)

Congrats to all that were accepted!! 🙂

For those who were just accepted, did you submit any updates post interview? how many? what was their nature?

Thanks!

I submitted one update post-interview. I mentioned currently working as a medical scribe during my interview and they recommended that I update my application through their secondary application website. I described what I get out of my experience, what my tasks were, and how the experience will contribute to my success at Creighton and as a future physician. Good luck!

Question about the Dean's Diversity Scholarship: I don't really consider myself underserved, but I do have diverse ECs and A LOT of experience with populations from different backgrounds. I can answer the second essay beautifully, but I really am not underserved and don't feel it would be proper to try and claim that status. Anyone else?

I'm in the same position - middle-class and white, but with tons of community service and healthcare experience working with diverse and under-served populations. The description sounds like it could be an either/or kind of thing, but the first essay makes it seem like you should be disadvantaged in some way. I could maybe go for coming from a very rural area, but I don't feel like that experience led to a disadvantage economically or educationally for my family. May be worth a call to the admissions office to get a better idea of the kind of students who typically get that scholarship.

That was my next step. I grew up in the suburbs of a major city which is basically the opposite of underserved. The closest thing I get is that I literally took no science classes after my freshman year of high school until my junior year of college after I left music school, but that was by choice. Ugh.

I would say just go for it and let the committee decide if your experience qualifies you for the scholarship. I am in a similar situation but I wrote about some challenging circumstances that may or may not be what they are looking for -- you'll never know unless you try and you really have nothing to lose by applying.

Hey! OOS, complete in early September, and interviewing tomorrow. Anyone else with interviews tomorrow (01/09/15)??

This has probably been asked before, but does anyone know if Creighton has a second look day?

I believe someone mentioned they would have one around April, but don't quote me on that.

For those admitted, does anyone know what to do after paying the deposit?

I'm assuming we'll all have to send transcripts, get drug tested, etc.; when will get information about this?
