Hi guys, does anyone know if Howard accepts update letters/letters of interests? Haven't heard anything for a while and was hoping to boost my application. Thanks!

I, effortlessly, emailed the school whether they accept updates but haven't gotten anything from them. I guess they are really busy going through all of those applications. When were you complete? Are you asking for pre or post interview updates anyways?
 
Just so happens I finally received correspondence this morning about my update letter. Letter was sent first week of November. Email also mentioned that the applicant pool was extremely large this year so interviews would go until April. Also, stated that "no news, can be good news", especially in this cycle. Hopefully, this gives someone an ounce of hope 🙂 STAY POSITIVE

That's great. I'm curious did you send your letter of update through mail or just through their regular email address? Thanks.

Just through the email address. However, I wrote it like a formal letter. When did you send in your update?

I wrote my update letter early December as a letter but I didn't know that they were receptive to them. I submitted mine early this morning actually. I also had to update my recommendation letters through AMCAS today as well ( realized that I didn't select an additional science teacher to the school). Lol

I got the e-mail right before break by accident actually. I e-mailed a grade update and she immediately responded "But you didn't respond to my interview invite?" I have NO idea where it was to this day. It wasn't in spam or anything. I contacted AMCAS and they were like "well just change your e-mail" and I'm like, I'm pretty sure you're missing the point. I have no idea what communication I missed. She even forwarded me the confirmation so I know it was sent through AMCAS; AMCAS verified it. If I hadn't sent that update....anyway I had to respond like within thirty minutes because they were closing for the holidays. I hope I don't look super flakey.

I submitted my primary the first day it opened. Like if AMCAS opened it at 930 AM, I submitted at 9:33. But I completed the II sometime later. Maybe...Oct.

Oh, wow. that's pretty weird. Well, good thing you submitted a grade update. I am curious, What e-mail address did you use for the grade update? I may send them my transcripts of the fall. Thanks.

I emailed Ms. Walk at the email she gave us when she visited our campus to talk about the medical school; she told us to put something specific to the visit in the subject. But, I had a friend who stated she was implored to use the general admissions e-mail address so I think it might be more favored unless told otherwise. I received an e-mail from her from that address so I think she still monitors it. I just wrote the grades in the body of the e-mail as they instructed and then if if invited for interview, I was told to bring an official transcript to add to the file.

I have tried, effortlessly, to get a response from the general admission office e-mail but no luck so far. I sent a grade update (unofficial transcript) to that e-mail. I have been emailing them quite few times but haven't gotten any response. When I called, the person on the phone couldn't get into the e-mail system last week since I e-mailed a letter of update. I might just call them again this week and sort of all these things. Thank you again 🙂

Congrats on the interview. Just noticed you said you emailed them a grades update. Did they request this from you? I noticed on their initial email they said "Do not send transcripts unless requested by the HUCM Admissions Office. They will be shred." I'm in a SMP so I'm wondering if you had any indication that sending 1st semester grades might be accepted. Thanks and good luck!

Thanks! I did. They didn't request it but I sent an e-mail inquiring about how to go about doing this. I was told NOT to send a paper copy (official transcript via snail mail) because the office didn't have anywhere to put them and hence, would shred them. I assume because everything is online, your file is also digital unless they print it for the admissions committee to review, maybe after you are granted an interview. I was told to submit the course number, title, and grades into the BODY of the email (they paste it into the comments section of your online file) and if selected for interview to bring a formal sealed transcript. Hope that is helpful.

Also, I did everything I could to make it easier for them to add it and know what information was contained. For instance the title might be "Last Name, First Name AMCAS ID #XXXXXX 2014 Fall Grade Update".

Were you checking the secondary application portal to see if your status changed while you were waiting for the secondary invite? Have you called AMCAS to see if any other interview invites slipped through the cracks?

I have two email addreses, one which is now inactive listed on AMCAS. I called amcas earlier in the application cycle to make sure only my current email is listed. After reading your post i logged into amcas.org and tried to update my profile only to find my inactive email address listed as my primary email. Although unlikely, i am starting to wonder if i am somewhat in dark because emails are being sent to the wrong address.

Have you received any e-mail notifications from other schools?

As for Howard, they do send an email inviting you to fill out a secondary and another e-mail inviting you to interview. They updated my secondary portal when I received/completed my secondary but no updates on my portal since my interview and acceptance. It actually says "Not yet scheduled" as my interview status.

I interviewed Nov 4 and received the accepted email sometime before Christmas. Maybe send an update or letter expressing your interest in the HUCM? You shouldn't stress so much though, you're going to medical school regardless. 🙂

Ok So... Who is Ms. Walk again? I have never received any email from her... or anybody else for that matter. What's her email?

It's "[email protected]" she's the director of admissions. However, she doesn't seem to be responsive to e-mails, from my experience, so you can try to contact and see if she'll reply to you.
 
Thanks! I googled her name and found her info/title.
I just sent the letter and CC'ed the general admission. Let the wait begins...

I don't think they have given any ii since early December. A lot of us who submitted late secondaries are awaiting a response. They should be reviewing applications soon and ii should follow. If i had to guess I'd say early to mid February. What are you stats? 3.0 GPA 25 MCAT here!
