I interviewed today. I'm totally in love with HUCM! The students and faculty really are very warm and welcoming.

My interviewer straight up told me that the class is pretty much filled at this point, and we are being interviewed as "fillers" just in case there is some fluctuation in class size (people accepting other offers -which they're expecting).

Also, Ms. Walk said 8-10 people are interviewed at a time. I believe she also said the committee is meeting tomorrow.
I hope it will turn out in your favor ! did she mention if they are still sending out ii?

@thenewed Surprise interview invite this afternoon though I was totally expecting another winding down of the cycle rejection e-mail. It is stated in the e-mail they can only interview 10-15 students a day.

I am still contemplating whether or not to attend if we are only being interviewed for the wait list but can anyone elaborate on their interview experiences?

@ivorykeys91 did he/she mentioned if there's been a lot of fluctuation in recent years?

Congrats, honestly if you have been accepted to a medical school already (as your status showed), you should just accept that spot. The only reason is that all medical schools will require their candidates to choose a spot by April 30th. Even if you go to your interview at Howard, they will most likely not have a decision made on your application by the 30th. This is just the way I think about it, and it's not in any shape or form a way for me to tell you not to go!

Congrats! Which dates did they offer?

Hey, I am a 3rd year student at HUCM and i hope you all are having a good interview cycle. I usually try to introduce myself to interviewees whenever i see them during my lunch break. For those of you who have already interviewed, i hope it went well, and for those that have yet to interview, keep the faith. A lot of later interviewees are my current classmates. I know its late in the cycle but if any of you have questions you can PM me.

Chemy, sorry to hear you got rejected. Don't stop believing in yourself. I applied to HUCM and got waitlisted for half the year and then rejected. I reapplied the following year and got in. So sometimes you just have to keep on trying and you will eventually make it. Getting into med school is no easy task but if becoming a doctor is truly what you want, you just have to reassess and try again.

No mention of sending out more secondaries. :/

Ms. Walk said that there's always been fluctuation in class size -sometimes up until orientation starts in July. She described this whole process of students accepting/declining offers and sending out interview invites as a wave. Hoping that'll be true in the coming months! :xf:

so I guess we are waiting for a rejection letter at this point...lol, is April 21st the last interview date for sure? I wonder if any interview spot will open up in the next 2 business days or so...

Try to call them bow if you can. They shouls be open. I tried but no one answered lol

for those who are still hoping for ii like me, I just wanted to let you know that Ms. Walk basically told me that they are done with ii for the TIME BEING, so am guessing unless someone drops from the last interview date ( April 21st as @APOPTOSIS2019 mentioned), or they decide to have another interview date...we are kinda screwed!lol our chances here are very slim

That's what it says on the voic mail of the school. I don't understand why would they keep putting applicants on hold at this point...

Just curious as to how this April 30 deadline works- is that also the deadline for students to pay the acceptance fee?

Hello Everyone,

I am a fourth year medical student ( currently attending Howard Med in Washington D.C).
I am moving away for residency and have a 1 bedroom available in a 3 BD apartment located in Downtown Silver Spring Maryland. Living with you is a rising third year medical student and MS4/ rising anesthesiology intern (both females). Looking for another roommate (preferably female & student). Lease starts June 1st.

Rent is $713/month, including all utilities, free parking, free 24 hr gym, gated community in Silver Spring. Metro accessible (10 mins walking distance). 20 minutes to school by car. Fully furnished apartment except the available room.

We are looking for someone who is respectful, reasonably clean, and drug/smoke-free. We prefer a howard medical student because the other two roommates are also from Howard family. We have this tradition where we try our best to support each other ( books, med school tips, step 1 advice, etc.) and so it's great if we have another howard member to join us!

Please message me ASAP if you are interested! ( and to see pictures).

it' s a mystery!Who knows why
It aint over till the fat lady sings. My hope is that after 4/30 there will be a lot of movement . 1) Students holding more than one seat will be forced to finally pick. 2) Students who have been accepted to HUCM but waitlisted at other schools, gain admission to their top school and chose to give up their seat at HUCM.

*****For those holding multiple seats and you know HUCM is not your first pick, PLEASE withdraw so folks like me and others can have a chance at an interview 🙂 ****

I was wondering, do you know if the admission office is open to giving you feedback for your application for 2016 application?
I would hope so but am also unsure about that. It would definitely be helpful if some of us have to reapply!

So we know the class is full. Does anyone have an idea as to the projected number of people who have so far committed to coming? I don't think the 52 on the facebook site is reliable enough.

Does anyone how much it costs to park at the med/dental school at howard? (monthly) for commuting students. Im assuming the med and dental school are the same building.

I think, no news is GOOD news for all those that have interviewed and are still waiting for a decision. I have a friend that interviewed in March and is waiting too. Considering that HUCM does send out rejection letters and you haven't received one, then yall are probably riding the 4/30 wave and come May will all be accepted 🙂 I pray that this happens!

med students and dental students are not in the same building. However, the buildings are adjacent. During the first month of school there will be a lottery for parking spots. I believe the going price right now is $340/year.

How do you apply for the lottery?

I was hoping to get ii but seems that it did not happen. Congratulations to those accepted and good luck to those still waiting to hear back. I did not have a luck with Howard but I was fortunate enough to get accepted elsewhere in this cycle. I have lived in the DC area for a long time, and know housing situation is tough, so I thought I would mention that I would be moving out of the house I currently live in the DC area. It's a 3BR house with a nice backyard. 20 minutes drive, or you can also walk to the metro and take yellow line to Howard. Please let me know if anyone is interested in further detail. Thank you.

congrats, what were your stats if you mind me asking?

Hey guys I have a quick question: anyone know if lecture videos are recorded at this school?

Does anyone know where I can find the match list for 2014 or 2015?
