I got my hold email today. Complete 07/29

Consensus is that a hold is bad?

complete late july havent heard a thing.... im guessing a hold is better than nothing at this point

I don't know about that

Agreed. It seems like when they review your app, you're either offered an interview or placed on pre-interview hold, with no outright rejections given until the end of the cycle. If you haven't received a hold or an II yet, then they're probably not done reviewing your application.

Got an II yesterday morning! All available interview dates are in January on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and one on Monday. Submitted secondary on 8/4. By the way, what is a KIT?

DO you mind sharing stats? Congrats.

Hey everyone! Sooo I'm going to be flying to NY from FL (and in January - it's going to be colddd).... I was wondering if anyone who is familiar with the area can give any advice as to what airport I should fly to, hotels, etc. I would really appreciate any input! Thanks!

specifically to NYMC lol.

I'm flying directly into white plains (a little more expensive but worth the reduced stress) and then probably taking a 15 min taxi to my hosts apartment. Also check the NYMC website, they have good travel info there

Do they favor certain regions at all? I'm from Kansas and I'm not sure if that helps or hurts me. I've never even been to New York before

No, They have a fair amount of both IS and OOS students. Plus, its a private college.

Do they do silent rejections? Been complete since 7/16 no hold ....

There have been IIs going out to people who were complete in July in the last few pages. Maybe you will hear back soon.

while they shouldn't have massive in-state preference, I do not think that helps you

I submitted my secondary on 8/21 and the status page still hasn't updated on whether my application is complete or not. Does it usually over a month to have your app complete?

Where exactly does it say what your app status is? I followed the instructions and went to the School of Medicine website > Admissions > Secondary Application > Check Status but I'm not exactly sure where you're supposed to be looking? I "thought" I submitted my app on July 9th and just want to make sure I didn't make a boo boo.
Thanks!

EDIT: It says on the link to the secondary app that I completed the 9th of July but I haven't heard anything else. Thoughts?

A week after I submitted my secondary, I got the "keep/stay in touch" email, which I assume is their way of saying that my app is complete. I'd give them a call, since I've had admin issues with them. They actually lost my primary app or something... I had to call back and forth between them and AAMC to straighten it out =\

All my other LORs meet the requirements with the exception of one LOR from a UG Science Prof that I did research with but I did not receive a grade for it....will this be a problem or are they kind enough to accept this?

I was in a similar situation and I initially sent an email asking about the LOR requirements and received the following response (had one science prof and one research PI LORs instead of two science LORs).

"Dear Applicant:

If you are unable to have the required letters submitted on your behalf, please send us an email to [email protected] stating that you would like your application complete as is with the letters you are having sent in. Please keep in mind that the strongest applications are those with the required letters."

I emailed them asking them to mark my application complete with the submitted LORs and then I received an automatic email reply from NYMC. About 2 weeks later, NYMC sent me an email stating my research PI letter doesn't fulfill their requirements. Four days after that, NYMC sent me the staying in-touch email, which was on Aug 8. I just wanted to note that I haven't received an interview invite or a rejection so I can't say if not having the required LORs negatively affected my application.

Thanks a lot for your input. Although it's still hard for me to decide whether to apply or not. On the one hand, it's a very easy secondary application. But on the other hand, it's $120 and my stats are pretty average and I am Canadian.

Anyone not able to login? I tried to reset my password and it said it unable to. I'll email them eventually be just wanted to check.

The login page doesn't work if you're bookmarked it, try going to the page through the admissions site and see if that works. That's all it took for me!

Anyone else complete early July with KIT mail but no hold or anything until now?
I'm not sure if I had a chance to be reveiwed yet... if it did i haven't gotten a hold or interview. Does that mean a rejection?? =[
+2. Complete early July with KIT email, and have heard nothing (no hold either).

II just now! IS, LizzyM ~75. Complete on 8/19

ETA: I should also note that the dates I were given to choose between were from late January to mid February.

It doesnt really mean anything. Some people have gotten it, some have not.
And just to add to that, receiving the KIT email does not seem to indicate an upcoming interview (but it's an n=1 analysis, of course)

I haven't received any communication at all from them yet...no keep in touch or anything. I was complete late July. Is anyone in the same position? It seems like most have gotten at least the KIT e-mail.
