What are the chances of getting accepted to NYMC as an In-state applicant post-interview?
MSAR shows that only about 379 IS get interviewed. Does anyone know how many actually get accepted?

Wait listed today. Interviewed on 10/14. Did not really get a good feeling about the school from the faculty and students here on my interview day anyway .Will most likely withdraw.

It's hard to give you an exact number because they don't have a set 'quota' for IS vs. OOS since it is a private school. I think it depends on whether they feel an applicant is a 'fit' for NYMC rather than a question of state residency.

When reading last years thread, I got really mixed reviews about waitlist movement. Any current students that can speak to this? From what I understand, they give about 600 is acceptances for the 200 spots, but how many of those are from the waitlist?

For anyone who has interviewed here before, could you shed some light on interview day? I interview next week and would really appreciate the feedback.
Is the campus tour outside/should I bring a different pair of shoes since it'll likely be snowing? Is there a place for bags? Thanks!

Interview starts off in the main admissions building. You wait in the lobby and have the chance to store luggage/bags in a coat closet. Then you sign in at the admissions office, get some informational material and your schedule for the day. The interview group is split into 2 groups of 8, which determines whether your MMI or your tour comes first. Everyone is together for the morning informational session, which involves an overview of the day, information about the school, and the opportunity to ask questions. Everyone also goes to lunch with current students after the info sessions, but after lunch those with an MMI go back to the admissions building for the 8-station MMI. The other group goes on a tour, which does involve outdoor walking, so I would suggest bringing a comfortable pair of shoes and an umbrella (it rained on my interview day so I was glad to have an umbrella). Then each group does the other activity. After the MMI/tour the day is over (~3:30 pm).

Interviewed 10/27. Do you think I've been rejected? I'm worried that they already sent out the acceptances and waitlists

Interviewing in a little over 2 weeks. Excited as this will be my first time in NY! IT's funny b/c I actually got the invite in September and was planning on interviewing in October, but b/w consulting times that worked with my parents and my school schedule, everything filled up, so I emailed them and they said they were opening more times later on, so I'm grateful for that. Good luck to everyone!

Guys the earliest dates I saw were in Feb??? And I got my II 2 weeks ago! I would really like to go earlier.

I've heard from multiple people that a large % of the class at NYMC is from California. My PI went there, and he confirmed it was also like that back in the 90s (he is originally from Northern Cal). Another friend from California interviewed at NYMC a few years back, and she said many of her friends from undergrad (UCLA) ended up going there. Interesting/food for thought.

Does anyone know how to acceptance email starts off? .... ahhhhhh

If you (like me) just received an email from MDADMIT about an hour ago, it's asking you to complete a post-interview survey and has a link to the financial aid presentation.

...Or maybe it's an acceptance

Interesting...I'm from Texas...I wonder how that works out. It's also a different weather climate, too.

Hold status. OOS 3.5/30. Anyone ever come off the hold in this year or past years?

denied...interviewed in late october. So strange. I thought I killed the MMI. Did anyone else have this experience?
I feel awful..I wonder what I did wrong? It is really worrying me now.

if you really want to know you could always call the admissions office and ask to speak to a committee member -- some school are receptive to this and others are not, but it could be worthwhile if you have other interviews coming up and you want to make sure it wasn't something related to your interview performance. Best of luck!

When you guys are giving your complete dates, are you referring to the days you submitted your secondaries (knowing all of your other stuff was in) or the date that the adcom "completed you" on the portal? They just "completed me" the other day after having all of my stuff in for a long time, and I am trying to gauge how long it will be before I can expect to hear anything back.

asking for a friend - how legit do you think it is to mention that a significant other lives in the area, when writing a pre-II update on why you want to attend NYMC? like this is truly an important factor for her, but she feels weird saying that in a letter... yet she also thinks it would strengthen her argument that she truly wants to attend there haha

I was always told its considered insignificant unless you are engaged or married

Edit: or some other legally binding situation like if you have children together

For interviews, they are still pretty early into February. Nothing past the second week I see. As far as the KIT, I can't give you a date because I believe I deleted it a while back.

Update: I misread the dates, they are actually in the 2nd week of march. Posted as a new reply instead of an edit so no one passes over the info.
