To anyone who has sent an update letter...

Could you please share what your letter discussed (new grades, new ECs, or just reiterating your interest in OSUCOM)? Also, where did you send your letter - just the generic admissions email or a specific person? Thanks!

3.8 GPA, 37 MCAT. I'm OOS so maybe that's a factor?

Good luck next week! It's gonna be a stressful monday, I can say that from experience 😛

Wow great scores! And if your interview was great, I'm right there with you - definitely surprised...

I clearly need to stop theorizing, and just wait it out. 🙂

LizzyM 74; OOS. There's a link to the email address for updates via the application portal. My update letter included new achievements and how I had strengthened my preparation for medical school since the interview as well as restating my interest in OSU.

Does anyone know when they come out with an official waitlist and if the waitlist is ranked or not?

At this point in the cycle, can anyone comment on chances of acceptance? It's a little terrifying..and the wait is brutal! Haha

I have two friends who were deferred in November and December and were accepted in May and June! They are current M1s at tOSU now and loving every minute of it! Hang in there!!!

I think a lot of people get deferred at first. Some get in before April 30th but lots of people then get waitlisted and then get in over the summer......I expect many acceptances will come the week of/after April 30th.....I'm feeling pretty hopeful!

Thank you for your reply! I suppose I've been a little torn over submitting an update letter, because I wasn't sure if my activities were significant enough. Since my interview, I've been working as a natural health/nutrition writer, shadowing two physicians, and I recently started a Master of Public Health program. However, I'm not sure how that will affect my chances at OSU. I'd appreciate "two cents" from anyone right now lol. :shy:

Absolutely send an update! I think OSU loves to see continued interest, particularly from OOS applicants. Those are certainly significant updates as well!

Look at it this way: It can't possibly hurt, and may help! My only suggestion would be to make sure you tie everything back to how it makes you a better candidate for OSU. Good luck 🙂

Since today is the last interview date will tonight/tomorrow be a call night/decision day? If the 2 week pattern holds then the next decision day would be next Tuesday on April 7th. BornMD4 mentioned that he/she will get a decision this week so maybe the admissions office just wants to wrap things up this week?

I was curious about that as well since it sounded like a lot of people were receiving calls on a Monday. My group interviewed 2 weeks ago on a Wednesday and we were given the date of April 2nd, Thursday for when we will receive a decision. I spoke with several friends that interviewed and were accepted earlier in the season and they said they were called the night before or around 2 am the day of. So my guess (and that's all it is is a guess), is that my interview group will hear a decision but that the 2 week schedule will continue for those deferred/waitlisted etc.

Admissions meetings will continue to go on and deliberation on applicants will progress. This will continue until after the April 30th deadline, as significant movement will take place around that date.

When are drug tests administered for admitted M1's? I live in a state in which marijuana is legal for recreational use so I probably have to stop using it soon.

Can anyone comment on whether we need to purchase the anatomy textbook bundle for the online anatomy class? It's $100...

I bought it for $102. I felt like it would provide a good companion or at least bullet points to whatever I'll learn later on in school.

So it sounds like interviews are over? I still haven't heard anything from OSU at all. I wasn't getting my hopes up or anything, but I didn't think they were a silent rejection school.

Yeah, the last interview day was yesterday.

So this coming Monday Dr. Capers should be calling people for acceptances again? I was deferred a month ago.....hoping to get a call soon.

I got rejected by my top choice. OSU was my number 2 and I got deferred. I got accepted into my number 3......how does the process work exactly? Can I hold off on my acceptance from my number 3 all the way until the end of summer if I still don't hear back from OSU by then or is it school dependent?

You can hold 1 acceptance and as many wait list spots as you want past April 30th.

No but my status changed on the portal - Deferred.

"Use your AAMC ID number as your Login ID. Your password formula is: the FIRST LETTER of your AAMC LEGAL FIRST NAME + the LAST 4 digits of your AAMC ID NUMBER + the LAST LETTER of your AAMC LEGAL LAST NAME + the FIRST TWO digits of your AAMC ID NUMBER."

This is why I didn't put in the effort to withdraw earlier. Best of luck, OSU.

Rejected per II. I just wonder why they waited so long. (We're never happy, haha)

What is the grading system at OSU? I've heard it's "Honors," "Letters of Commendation," "satisfactory," and "unsatisfactory," so do these essentially stand in for grades?

So Dr. Capers should be calling people tomorrow night, correct? Just wondering if I should cuddle up next to my phone all night or not.....

EDIT: I'm a deferred applicant

It won't hurt to do so. I've personally stopped stressing about it as much after three Monday nights that have gone call-less. If it happens that's fantastic and if it doesn't there is still more time to earn a yes.

We are strictly pass/fail. Honors and Letters of Commendation are used for internal purposes and are not recorded on your transcript. These purposes include things such as the merit scholarships that begin in second year, as well as AOA recommendations.

Distinctions are also made on the MSPE that are sent out to residencies when you apply in fourth year, but our grading is pass/fail.

Thanks, celdurant! Has anyone gotten any communication about sending in deposits? I assume they're still due April 30?

Maybe no calls because of the game? I thought this Monday was a call day for sure

Not sure. But after watching Better Call Saul tonight, which first debuted the night before my osu interview, I now know what a Chicago Sunroof is. Sort of wish I didn't.

I just called the admissions office and asked about the deferral process. They said that it changes from deferred to waitlist anytime between now to April 30th and there's not necessarily any notification. They said it is ranked but that information is not published or available to applicants. Currently the class is full, so they will only be making offers as people withdraw their application. Therefore, acceptance calls will not necessarily come on a Monday, but are going to go out whenever someone drops a spot. Like many people have said before, most of the waitlist movement happens after April 30th, so get ready for some more waiting. Hope that helps clarify some things!
