anyone know if they are receptive to pre-interview updates? I understand that they only accept an official transcript for an update but how am I supposed to upload an official transcript if I am not supposed to see it?

Why can't you see an official transcript? Have your registrar mail it to them as a worst case scenario!

Is getting accepted always preceded by a second look tab? My interview was 8 weeks ago and I keep manically checking my secondary portal...

Not anymore. At first, the second look tabs showed up prior to acceptance, but I think PSU realized that applicants were finding out prior to receiving the packet through the mail and decided to fix that issue. Now you'll have to wait for the packet in the mail to see if you are accepted.

I believe you have to mail in official transcripts, but that may be only for accepted students. I would call and verify. They're very nice at the Admissions Office.

Just out of curiosity have any of the early November interviewees heard anything yet whether it be an acceptance, wait list, etc?
I interviewed early November and I still have not heard anything 🙁

Hey everyone! Congrats on those who have been accepted recently. I was wondering if anyone whose application was placed in the "Continue to Review" category has gone on to receive an II? My application was placed on hold on 10/20.
I am in the same boat... just waiting. They say they place a large amount of the applicants in the "hold" category. Has anyone been taken off this? I am just chiming in to this thread so I haven't been following much

So you either got accepted or rejected, no waitlist for you.

Waitlisted. Anyone know if psu takes update letters?

They are receptive for updated grades. The official transcript needs to be sent through mail. They told me I couldn't update mine through the portal. Hope this helps !

How about posters, presentations, grants and that sort of thing?

On their portal it says they are only receptive to grades for an update

Yeah I saw that, but then again half of their website isn't up to date, so I was just a little curious.

I'm assuming we have the transcript sent to the admissions address?

Anyone know if PSU is receptive to letters of intent?

Have you interviewed already? From the info I gathered they only accept post-interview updates, and you can only update them on grades. Maybe someone else can chime in for their view on a LOI

They are not receptive.

"You should also be aware that a decision for interview is based on the information presently contained in your file. We will not accept application updates, letters of intent or additional letters of recommendation. You will be informed immediately when a final decision on your status is made."

For those who have already interviewed what was the format? 2 interviews with faculty? Also were they more laid back or more formal? Thanks!

Yep, two interviews with faculty. Mine were very laid- back.

Hey everyone,

I submitted my application a while ago and haven't heard back in a long time (I'm a Canadian). I've been offered 2 interviews elsewhere but I still want to interview at as many places possible. I'd love to be interviewed here but I'm losing hope. Should I send a letter of interest?

Penn State is not receptive to letters of interest pre-interview. Good luck with your other interviews.

Yeah, they take no updates other than grades. Kinda silly, but it is what it is.

To send them our grades do we just mail them our official transcript to their mailing address? Could you please let me know what it is? Thanks!

After 2 calls and 2 emails later I still haven't heard if it is ok to drop a non required class that you originally listed on your amcas application. I don't want to lose my acceptance offer. Any current students that did this?

I honestly cannot see dropping a non-required class you've listed on the AMCAS being a problem. But is it good to make sure.

My "future courses" section on the AMCAS ended up looking nothing like what I actually took for various reasons.

On hold, pre-interview... and they do not accept any updates. So what now? I guess my chances are slim. :/
I am sorry to hear that. Could you please share when you were complete? Thanks

I was complete early August. This is the first time I heard back from them since I completed...

Pre-Interview on-hold as well. Really what's the point of of being on-hold this late?! Lol.

Stats: Complete: Mid-Sept, LizzyM:68-73, OOS. No updates because they do not accept anything but grades.

Which is SUPER annoying. How are they supposed to know I'm still really interested if I can't even tell them anything?

On hold as well - I'm taking it as a polite-ish rejection
was this through email or a status update?

Hold email this morning- first I've heard from them since July when I submitted my secondary. For those curious, here are some of the contents of the email-

"The Admissions Committee has completed a thorough review of your application and has placed it in the “Continue to Review” category. Your application will be reviewed periodically during the remainder of the process until a decision is made whether you will be invited for an interview at a later date or not.
Because of the large size of our applicant pool, many applications must be placed in this category so that the Admissions Committee can provide a fair and thorough evaluation of all candidates for admission. Please know that this is a common action, and that your application is still under active review by the Admissions Committee."

Got a II this morning! Interview date 1/26 in the morning. LizzyM ~67.

Are interviews this late for the most part interviewing for waitlist? My trip is going to cost ~$1k, and I'm not sure if I want to go to this interview if I'm just interviewing for waitlist

If you don't have an acceptance yet, I would attend every interview. This process is an investment just keep that in mind.

I interviewed after the new year and got in without a waitlist. Good luck!

I'll be interviewing 1/26th in the morning. anyone else interviewing my time?

Any news from mid/late November interviewees?

This may have been addressed somewhere in the past 20 pages, but does Penn State do silent rejections? Complete end of July and no word since...

Were you ever put on pre-interview hold by any chance?

Hi everyone, I am new here but was hoping to gain some insight on the post interview communications. I interviewed in December and I know all acceptances are mailed but I was just curious what I might see in an acceptance packet (or letter), do they also mail rejection letters too? I wasn't sure if people have received rejections post interview, and if so was it also snail mailed or was it through an email? These last 4 weeks seem like forever and I know I still have most likely another month to wait.
Thanks for any feedback!

I think snail mail is for acceptances only, can anyone confirm this? Also, in the acceptance packet (a big envelope), there's some financial aid info, housing info, basically list of things to do before matriculation (such as sending in vaccination documents), and a sheet for you to accept the offer.

Big envelope = good news
smaller envelope = hold or rejection
