Medium stress. You will need to talk coherently and not ramble, and know when your answer is done. You can't really prepare for specific scenarios, but you can learn how to talk well by practicing with others and reading some common ethical scenarios.

The good part is the scenarios are pretty straight forward.
 
what is a good and effective way to prepare for RWJ's MMI?

edit: sorry, this was before I saw Lamel's post. If anyone else who did well on the MMI wants to comment, please do.
 
Question for those accepted, whats the concensus on the average wait time to hear back, if you're accepted or not post interview?

umm that would be hard to gage since rwj has a later acceptance release date. dec 15. they didnt start accepting ppl until last month, so ppl culd have been interviewing from sept-nov and all heard back at the same time.

Accepted by phone call today! In-state, 34 MCAT, 3.4-3.6 sGPA and cGPA. Good luck to everyone, we're so close to the end of this process when you consider how many months of work went into our applications!!

not sure about when the last interviews are actually sent out, but their website states that interview season ends in March. Good luck and I hope you hear good news soon!
 
Received interview invite on Feb 2nd. They only had 1 date available in March though. Good luck to those still waiting.
 
Got the acceptance call tonight!!! I was out to dinner when I got the call, and it suddenly became a great celebration dinner. Good luck to everyone else accepted so far/awaiting your call! 🙂

Congrats! I'm in the same boat, except I didn't apply to cooper. I heard back from rwj a while ago and heard back from Njms recently. I've heard a lot about Njms from a friend that goes there, and based on what I heard (Newark not being so safe, classmates that aren't really as cohesive and cooperative as the school claims to be + gunners deleting class Dropbox files...), im already leaning towards rwj but I'd love to see a current student comment on the strengths and weaknesses of rwj.

To those who got invited to the RWJ interview, would any of you offer some input on these:

How did you prepare for RWJ's MMI? Did you treat it like any other interview and prepare from your PS, activities or did you take a laid back approach and not prepare for the MMI because it was impossible to predict what they would ask?

After the interview, did you realize anything more you could have done preparation-wise to be more ready for the MMI?

Is it more relaxed than traditional interviews or did you find it slightly more stressful than regular interviews?

Hey to answer your question, I have done an mmi at another school, but I think this is applicable anywhere. Mmi are not hard or stressful at all if you can think about ethical situations quickly. Know your standard ethical scenarios and be able to organize and process thoughts completely. Often times if you are stuck, an interviewer will ask questions to help you out. Just be fast with thinking about situations and your fine and as far as I have heard mmi is closed file.
 
Anybody have any info on how many students they've taken off the waitlist in the past years and when?

Hey, current M1 at RWJMS here—
I love it here. My class is super friendly, I find the administration to be very receptive to student feedback (rumor is that our pulm professor was recently asked not to return after some scathing student reviews), and I'm really pleased with my education here thus far. The weaknesses I can think of are the location/facilities: Piscataway is standard suburban NJ, for better or for worse, and our building is pretty hideous and in need of a facelift. Also, one of our course directors is pretty big on required activities; I'm much more a fan of sitting on my couch and watching lectures at 2x speed, so forcing me to come to school and do PBL-style activities is a bit annoying. The frequency of this varies based on the course, though. All in all, pretty minor gripes. FWIW, I hear that this year's incoming class size is going to be ~15% bigger than it has been in years past. I'm happy to answer questions/PMs, with the proviso that I don't come on SDN very often.

I'm also a current M1 at RWJ. I would like to echo everything that my classmate said regarding our building, responsiveness regarding course evaluations, and the requirements of certain classes. In our last three classes, I saw the main lecture hall maybe twice per class, which worked perfectly with my study habits. But for our current class, I've been in the main lecture hall all week this week and honestly I'm not thrilled about it. But different professors have their preferences, and we just adjust accordingly. Even though I don't like it, I actually think it's a good lesson in flexibility. In a few short years we're going to be subject to all of the different the whims of our attendings and residents, so we might as well get used to being on someone else's schedule now.

Another thing I'd like to stress is the truly pass/fail status of RWJ. It's not like some other schools where it's called pass/fail, but you're secretly ranked internally. This leaves everyone on a level playing field when rotations start third year, at which point the honors/high pass/pass/fail system comes into play.

The fact that the school is actually pass/fail has made for a truly collaborative environment that I wasn't really expecting. Throughout the year we've been inundated with additional study materials/books from M2s (and sometimes M3s and M4s), study guides made from our more artistically inclined classmates, and any helpful links/videos that people have found and think can help others. Our Facebook group is extremely active with course (and social) information, as is our Dropbox, with people constantly adding any helpful documents they make or come across.

One thing I personally love about RWJ is the people. I've found an awesome study/friend group of fellow students that all come from very different backgrounds, but we all get along amazingly well. (I'm actually shocked we're not sick of each other yet, considering how much we're together.) And even though people definitely have their cliques, the whole class is still very inclusive. People like to say that it's a work hard, play hard school, and I definitely agree with that to an extent. A lot of people do love to party after an exam, but there are just as many who would prefer to go skiing or hiking, stay in for a wine and cheese night, or go to New York to see a play instead. Whatever it is you're interested in doing, you can find company at RWJ. I'm very happy with my decision to come here.

I actually got an II invite today. Sounds like I snagged one of the last few, seeing as it is on Friday.

Anyone know what the odds of this turning into an acceptance?
 
Have any accepted students started their FAFSA yet? I ask because some schools have priority deadlines of 3/1/2015, but I can't seem to find the deadline for RWJMS. Thanks!
 
question for current students - where is best to live? one of the only things I don't like about rwjms is the distance b/w campus and hospital, so how do you choose which to live closer to? haha
fwiw I'm looking for a 1-2BR apartment (or townhouse, etc.. not too picky). I don't really care about other details, other than convenient access to laundry. or ngl, big closet is a bonus 😛
 
along those lines, would it be feasible to live in a studio apartment nearby? or are there none in the area/expensive?
 
what options are you considering for housing?
