2014-2015 Stanford University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just received post-secondary rejection for MSTP from Stanford. First rejection 🙁 Good luck to everyone still in the running!
When did you submit your secondary?!

After being verified on June 16th (almost two months ago!), calling three times (twice with no one answering, once with someone telling me to call back when his supervisor returned from vacation), and emailing, I still have no secondary application from Stanford.

I would really love to attend this school, and I'm very frustrated that I may not have the chance due to some clerical error remaining unresolved. Any suggestions?

I am sorry that you are in such a bad situation. I too had a few struggle with secondaries, although most of them are resolved, I still don't have them from two other schools.

In another school, I almost didn't apply because someone on the phone told me that I don't quality due to a missing prereq. I am glad that the director himself reassured me that I do qualify after I tried to email him. I don't have any practical suggestions, but I would advice you to try again and maybe email the director of admission? But you must not show bad altitude towards anyone at the admission office, no matter how you feel. They'll appreciate you being patient and at least it won't work against you--people get rejected for the smallest reason.

I've been trying to submit the secondary all of today, but I keep getting "This webpage is not available". Is this just me, or is the site down for everyone?

Hey, my condolences 🙁 But congratulations on the other interview invitations you've had already! May I ask when were you complete? Thank you

Hi guys,

I completed my secondary (letters and all) 8/5, so a pretty quick turnaround for rejection. We all have our reach schools, right?
and thanks @MSTPhopeful2015! I'm very grateful to already have other interviews, which helped with the rejection sting 🙂 Congrats to you too! (I'm not super creepy and know that you have other interviews already... oh wait).

Saw this nice wool sweater, grey, thick and boyfriend fit, on sale for a good price. But I chose not to buy it for the smallest chance that I'll end up in Palo Alto for four years.

Palo Alto can get cold... You should totally go back and buy it. If you don't you're not showing Stanford your dedication D:

Where from? Out of nowhere I've been really liking what Club Monaco's been putting out, for men and women (at least Fall/Winter-wise, since Spring/Summer is way too breezy for either sex).

I believe I saw it on backcountry.com...

OMG...I just received an ii via email. This is unreal.

Holy cow, Person! Congratulations! That more than makes up for UChicago. (I bet they're regretting their decision, too. 😉 ). Looks like you're in for a very full and very excellent interview cycle!

From the portal, it looks like there are only two interview dates in October available. Does anyone know if more dates will be made available soon?

Firstly - congratulations! But for your question, my guess would be no - when I signed up for my interview, there was only one date available, so two might be the most that they have to offer right now so they can make sure they're all filled up. I would say that, if those dates don't work for you, it's best to call Stanford directly to see if you can work something out (especially so you can make sure you fall within the 5-day limit). But purely my two cents.

I figured as much. I tried calling but no one picked up. It seems they prefer email communication. Hopefully they will respond to my email. Congratulations to you too!

Finally received my invitation to submit a secondary application! Thanks for your support everyone
Bravo for the persistence. Hope the school sees that about you! Good luck!

It looks my IP was blocking the entire med.stanford.edu website for whatever reason... I finally figured out it was just me, and submitted via a proxy.

Congrats on the II! Does anyone find stanfords II schedule a little curious? Usually once 5pm on friday rolls around, i come to terms and say well ive received all the potential IIs I can for this week. But not w stanford. With these saturday and sunday morning IIs, it really keeps you on your toes! Lol. Do you folks think its automated or is there someone literally in the office sending them out on weekends. Just curious!

Any Stanford veterans know if they usually review in the order of completion? @nemo123 @Dr.Mom ? My research based on the last two cycles' thread concludes that, they do. And they rarely look back. So either rejection or II so it seems. Kinda like the Chicago's system.

Last year, it seemed that high stat applicants were reviewed first and had somewhat of an expedited review process. Stanford didn't seem to give interviews based on completion date. For example, I was complete in late July and got my invite in late February. So definitely don't lose hope if you haven't heard yet! 🙂

Congrats to those with IIs! Stanford is a kickass place. Lately there have been ducklings in the fountain in front of the hospital and if that isn't a reason to go to med school there then I don't know what is.

In other news, I found a small typo in my Stanford secondary (accidentally forgot to include a word). :smack:

I challenge you for making frivolous mistakes: I forgot to finish my primary PS with a period.

Jeez, by that time I would have given up all hope for Stanford.

I got my II on New Year's Day last year, responded by email with a scheduling conflict, and got a reply almost instantly. Real humans are involved (and very helpful).

Did it take forever for anyone else's secondary payment to go through? I submitted mid-July and received a complete email a week or two later, but it was just this morning that the fee was actually taken out of my bank account (which I only noticed because it overdrew my account lol)

Maybe there are indeed someone in the office sending out those 7am Sunday IIs by hands...

Has anyone else not received secondary application? Mine was verified last month and still no notification. Sent emails but no one answered.

You should probably call or something. My Primary got sent out on 08/11, I received the Secondary on 08/13, and I submitted and got confirmation on 08/14.

I have called several times, and they said it would be done as soon as possible, then no more news

So the website said my Stanford application was complete on 7/10, which should mean that they have all my material including the application fee, right? But I just saw my bank statement and the money wasn't charged until 8/18... Does it mean my application was actually complete on 8/18? Anyone noticed the same issue?

I might need to change my date for my Stanford interview, but it's not 100% necessary. Would they have a bad first impression of me if I change my interview date?

If I were you, I wouldn't take the risk.

Sorry about the MSTP rejection but an interview to Stanford is still a pretty big deal. Congrats! I'm so excited for you!! 🙂
Aww thank you so much!!! 🙂 your kind words are much appreciated!

EDIT: I must say, I was quite bummed yesterday to not get the chance to at least visit Stanford haha. 🙂
