Hey, so my UCSF secondary asked how I identify. I am bisexual, and have dated women and men. But I'm still closeted to my religious family. Do they require that we be out to identify as LGBTQ spectrum?
My interpretation would be that whatever you consider your sexuality to be, is the correct answer.

You should absolutely list yourself as bisexual.

Yeah. I am sure that they will not tell your family.

I am, quite literally, in the same boat, and I went ahead and identified as bisexual. It seems that both the school and community are very welcoming to LGBTQ people and, from what I can tell, our situation is relatively common. I agree with MrMe123 in that it would be culturally insensitive to view us as inauthentic and I doubt they'll give us any trouble about it.

I had a similar dilemma. I believe someone posted earlier in this thread that the question regarding one's sexuality is only used for applicant demographic purposes. I think it would be pretty unimaginable, and possibly illegal, for the info you disclose about your own sexuality, true or not, to have any effect on an admissions decision.

Rejected post secondary, complete mid july OOS.

Does anyone know roughly how many OOS applicants are given secondary apps?
I saw that last year 1500 people total received secondaries and was curious how many out of 1500 are OOS.
Thanks!!!

I don't know OOS/IS, but I was told by a current UCSF student that this year (at least) there were going to be ~2500 secondaries given out. Granted she's not an admissions staff member, so take it with a grain of salt, but she does do tours on interview days.

I also vaguely remember one of the admissions staff members saying they accept somewhere around 50/50 OOS/IS, but that IS students matriculate at higher rates. So there's probably a pretty decent percentage of secondaries given to OOS applicants.

Axed! 🙁 OOS solid credentials imo. Completed early Aug. I'll just assume that they know better than I do regarding the fit. Flying kisses to everyone still running~~~~

Sorry FFH, you'll continue to have success elsewhere I'm sure.

I'm just waiting for the axe to come down, complete 7/31 OOS.

Took 20 mins for me to muster the courage to open the email... And it was the dreaded axe 🙁 so heartbroken. This was one of my top choices, even thoughI'm oos.

This rejection came really soon after my ucla II. Do the UCs not like to interview the same OOS applicants by any chance?
Maybe. I'm in the same boat.

It all seems very random to me. I received an interview invite from UCSF, but I never even got a secondary for UCLA.

Rejected post secondary! I'm currently downtown and pretty tipsy, lolz. My first forreal rejection. Good luck everyone else!!!
Just sipped some Dogfish head pumpkin ale here in NYC for the same sentiment.

I tried to do a search of the thread but mostly got replies for Starbuck orders and other food related posts. So, does anyone know if we've noticed if they go in order (more or less) of when secondaries are received when granting interviews? Also, does anyone care to share the stats of II's to secondaries?

They mostly go in order, but Secondary complete date and rejection/II dates start getting a little mixed up starting in December for the Jan Interview dates. Stats for II's were anywhere from like LizzyM 65 to 78 with most in the low to mid 70's.

When I interviewed back in early October, Dr. Wofsy said decisions will come out some time after late November but that we would hear back before the end of the year....for people that interviewed recently has he said anything different than that?

I'm getting too anxious!!

Oh, wow...he promised before the end of the year? That's exciting! I interviewed mid-October, and from what I remember, the admissions staff were very careful not to promise anything outside of the January date for us - we could hear back earlier, but they wouldn't guarantee anything.

If I remember correctly, I think that is what he said but I wanted someone else to confirm it. That's okay though, either way I'm still going to be obsessively checking my email anyway...

I interviewed early october and I remember the guy who was handing out folders and giving directions for interview locations mention that they will probably start in November. But I wasn't sure how solid that was.

rejected as well. as is life. i wish everyone the best of luck!!

Im guessing no one has been rejected post secondary yet who was complete in Sept?

Out of curiosity, have many people been rejected pre-secondary or have those of us who haven't received secondaries yet been silently rejected?

I got a secondary last week and was verified in August.

It seems like others have been rejected pre-secondary though. (You might want to double check me on that)

Has anybody received any word from the JMP? I looked back at last year's thread and there were quite a few people who received interview invites around this time.
