2014-2015 University of Kentucky Application Thread

Just got my II as well! Submitted secondary last week, but my letters just got uploaded 2 days ago. Scheduled for 10/7. Anyone else going then?
October already? Was that the earliest date offered if you don't mind me asking?

The earliest for regular applicants was 9/23, but I can't make that date. 10/7 was the next earliest date offered.

The earliest I had for regular and early decision was the week of 9/9

Sure
33 MCAT 3.9 GPA and completed Aug2
Super fast turn around... one of the last secondaries I've completed!

Awesome stats! This makes a little nervous though as I was complete 7/18 with 3.75/34 and still no response. Guess my essays were lackluster.

Do you have any Kentucky ties? I have a 3.98 and 31 MCAT but thought that wouldn't cut it for a Canadian.

Basically identical stats/completion date for me. I'm in a neighboring state too. Does Kentucky send reject emails?

Submitted secondary today. Now if my committee letter would get uploaded it'd be all good to go

Anyone else's status change from "complete" to "Sent for Screening"? Did those of you who received an II ever get this status?

Not as far as I know, but I didn't really check very often. Right after I scheduled my interview it was still at "complete," though.

Thanks! Well I am just going to tell myself that this just means that the committee is actually in the process of the evaluating my application at this moment so I don't keep thinking about this all weekend!

No problem! Good luck!!

I just checked my status and it said "Interview(s) To Be Scheduled".
I never received an email or anything. Should I contact them on Monday to ask about this or should I wait for further instructions?
I am very happy by all means (I hope it is not an error...)
I wish more II are coming for those of us who are patiently waiting.

Sounds like great news, congratulations! Hopefully we all get an II soon!

Same status for me. Same reaction. I'm just waiting.

Current M1 here. If I remember correctly, my status said "interview to be scheduled" for almost a week before I got the interview email last year. Don't fret, it's on its way. Good luck on your interview!

II! OOS, LizzyM ~76. No family ties to Kentucky but I've been participating in a service immersion trip through which I've spent a week there each summer for the past 4 years. Congrats to everyone who's received an II so far and good luck to everyone still waiting!

Just got an II! Earliest date I could chose was 10/21, sadly. But I'm excited nonetheless as last year the earliest I got was in January for the alternate list.
Stats: OOS, uGPA: 3.3, sGPA: 3.6, pbGPA: 4.0, MCAT: 33. I don't have ties to the state other than the amount of time I've spent there climbing and I used to work there, but that was ages ago.

The earliest I could schedule was 11/4th. Wow Oct 21st filled up within the last 8 mins?

Canadian here. Just got interview invite. 3.96 AMCAS GPA, 35 (13/11/11) MCAT. Not scheduled yet.

I scheduled as soon as I got the email and did not see any October spots for regular applicants.

FYI: I was able to swap my interview reservation, so the 10/21 is now open for whomever sees this first, I guess. Good luck, everyone!

thanks but I just logged in again and still could not find the 10/21 spot. spots fill up real fast. 🙁

Reserved for 11/8. Wonder how much the plane ticket will be :S

&FYI: I saw spots fill right in front of my eyes, so if you get II, reserve ASAP.

I think this was discussed earlier in the thread but I have 8/19 as the earliest scheduling date as a regular applicant. I believe someone else said 9/9?

ii! 3.62, 36, OOS, no ties, submitted secondary 7/26.

The earliest interview date for regular applicants is indeed 8/19, but that date and the rest until late October / early November have filled up.

To others (mainly OOS/International) put on hold does your status say "Screening Hold" or something more along the lines of "Committee has decided to defer a final decision on your application pending further comparison with other out of state applicants."?

my interview is scheduled on 11/22, all prior slots been filled up, is this real life???

I heard UK interviews fill up fast, but I didn't expect it to be this fast!! My status now says "interview to be scheduled." I'm feeling so restless.

ii! 3.63, 36, Canadian, no ties, submitted secondary 7/19.

Hey guys just wondering, is being placed on OOS hold something to be hopeful about or does UKY not see much hold movement?

Not to bring you down, but I hope the hold doesn't last long because I got an II in September last year and the earliest spot was in late January, so I interviewed for the alternate list, which I made and then got the rejection for that a few weeks before my II for this year.

Canadian here, got my Interview invite today.

MCAT 34 (13P/9VR/12B) cGPA 3.87 and sGPA:3.96

Chose a date in Nov.

Anyone know if when you interview makes a difference in competitiveness? When do applicants first find out if they have been accepted? I read that it was Oct. 15, 2015 for regular applicants, isn't that too late?

The importance of your interview date varies between schools. Some schools specifically reserve spots in the class for those they interview later. UK is not one of them. If you are interviewing in November, you will be fine. However, I think our class was full by January last year so I believe most people who interviewed after that spent some time waitlisted.

October 15th is the first day that UK (and all med schools) can let regular applicants know they are accepted, but it's rolling admissions so they will continue accepting people well after that. In some schools, people have been admitted (off the waitlist) just days before the start of classes.

  • October 15, 2015 - Earliest Date of Admission Action Notification
So that means I won't find out until next year Oct. 15? Isn't that WAY too late? When does school start? Thought it would start in Sept. atleast.

Pretty sure they meant 2014 not 2015.

Does anyone know if UK offers II's with out having LOR's? I know Louisville does and was wondering if they do the same.
