How long after AMCAS marked your LOR's as received did UK receive them?

Interview received! Seems like only January dates are available. Do I still have a shot to make it or am I more likely to be wait listed because of such a late interview date?

Unfortunately, you are probably more likely to be wait listed. I believe in previous years, the class is often full by December/January. That said, just because the class is full doesn't mean everyone is going to accept those offers. I would expect a good amount of movement in the spring as folks with multiple offers make decisions. I know people in my class who interviewed in January (and later).

Can a student provide general information about the school and the interview day as much as they can remember?

Hey there, I am a current M4. From what I can remember about my interview day, you will arrive in the morning and hear a short presentation about the school. After that there are two interviews, which can either be with faculty or a medical student (at least one will be with a faculty member). I don't remember my interviews being particularly long, maybe 30-45 minutes. Mine were pretty relaxed and conversational, but that will depend some on the interviewer. After your interview, you will eat lunch with a couple of current students and then tour the school. After that you are done!

As far as general information about the school, class size is 136 (increased some in recent years). The first two years have a systems-based curriculum, and are P/F. Your grades are reported as a percentage, which is used to determine class rank and are reported on your transcript. Third year clerkship sites include UK Chandler Hospital, the VA, Good Samaritan Hospital, and the Kentucky Clinic. UK Chandler Hospital is a level 1 trauma center (and a pediatric level 1 trauma center); the new ED is very nice, and the neurology and surgical floors are also open in the new building. There are a couple different tracks, including the Rural Physician Leadership Program, the Global Health track as well as research fellowships and a pathology fellowship. UK has a tuition guarantee, so your tuition cost will not increase over the course of your 4 years here. If you have more specific questions, I'm happy to answer.

For those that have already interviewed. Do you know if the committee has held decision meetings for those not in EDP? Or will they meet after October 15th?

I was told on my interview day to call on the 15th. The way they made it sound it seemed like they will have made a decision by then for interviews in early September atleast.

Does anyone know what proportion of interviewed in-state applicants will receive an acceptance? And what about those applicants interviewed early on? (pre-October 15)

I don't know anything about this year's application cycle, but last year they accepted 134 of the 266 in-state applicants that they interviewed. Sorry, it was not broken down by when the interviews were. Those are pretty good odds though. If anyone is curious about the out-of-state stats, 100 were accepted of 211 people who interviewed. (There were 1870 out-of-state applicants and 443 in-state).

II today, OOS. Looks like 2/7 is now the earliest available date, and filling fast. There are only 4 more interview days after that.

Does anyone know how likely it is for someone to drop their interview spot? I've noticed a few people signed up for earlier days that are already full. Is this a good idea or should I just stick with my February spot?

I gambled and just picked a reasonable date (11/4) because the earliest available for me was January, and a couple weeks later I got confirmation for 11/4. Since the class apparently fills up early I personally didn't want to interview if it had to be that late

If you interview January or later, you're interviewing for the wait list and it doesn't matter how early you interview then (since they rank everyone after the interviews are done), which is why it's worth getting on a wait list for an interview spot since at least then you're interviewing for an actual seat.

Thanks guys. There is a day in December that says "regular and RPLP interviews". I can try for that day, right?

Anyone else as nervous as I am for October 15th?

Extremely nervous over here! My portal said something like "review completed" so the decision's been made, whatever it may be :nailbiting: From what I understood, we can call them that morning and inquire about our file, but do we also receive an email that day? Ahhh that would be the most nerve wracking call ever.

New user on here, just wondering if anyone else on here got accepted early decision. I am the only one I know of so far.

Congrats! Do you mind sharing your intervew experience by filling up the survey?

For everyone done with interviews, does your portal say "interview completed" or something else?

Hey all. I just realized I have a huge conflict with my interview date on 12/9, Tuesday. If anyone with a 12/13 or 12/15 date, or even earlier for some reason, is interested in swapping for an earlier date, please message me to let me know!

Got the acceptance call this morning!! So excited that this day is finally here - I'm still in shock! Good luck to everyone else waiting to hear!!
Congrats! Would you mind sharing your interview experience?

Congrats! I'm honestly not ready for this. . .

I was still bleary-eyed and shocked on the phone! Thank you, and good luck to you!!

Thanks! Sure, I don't mind at all! I'm halfway out the door, so to briefly recap my actual interviews, I had two great interviewers who mostly asked about my activities and we just had a conversation for the most part. They were both very friendly and seemed to just want to get to know me a little bit better as a person. As for the actual day, we were introduced to all of the interviewers in one room at the start and then we were slowly called out to our two interviews, and some people had some downtime in between. Afterwards, we had lunch with some current students (M1s I think?) who answered our questions and then took us on the campus tour. We got to see some of the new hospital, the lecture halls, anatomy lab (there were students actually working and studying in there, so that was an incredible experience), and some other rooms like the student lounge! Overall it was a very friendly and exciting day -- my interview group was great, too! Sorry this is so brief -- I'll try to add on later if I think of anything, and I'm happy to answer any specific questions you have.

Did your portal change ?

Just checked my portal, and there's no change from "review completed." Hope that helps!

Called and placed on hold. They will review in December.

Welp, I took the plunge and called and now all the pressure is on my UWash interview :/

Good luck to everyone else applying/waiting!

Thanks! how big was your interview group? Were the two interviewers both physicians? What was it like when the students were called out to interviews? My legal name is really tricky to pronounce... I hope they would call my preferred name.

I think there were about 16-20 people on my interview day. The interviewers were all either physicians or members of the faculty (professors, researchers, working in administration, etc). Both of mine just called me up by my first name, but they probably will call you by your preferred name if that's what you put down! I wouldn't worry about that part!

Congratulations to everyone who was accepted! As always, happy to answer questions (about UK, Lexington, etc.) to the best of my abilities, here or via PM.
