Didn't apply this year but wanted to comment on how insane that is because I came from that school of thought you know as a senior in high school picking from BU, NU, and UMass I was like duh with the costs but BU med is currently listed at total cost of $76,380, no matter how crappy boston medical center is the fact that those costs are so similar is a scary reality so yes it is still slightly cheaper than the avg but not much anymore... Wow. harsh reality.
How have you concluded that BMC is a bad hospital?
That's not what my point was but it has been fined in recent years for sanitation problems and can't seem to keep standards with other area hospitals not to mention the security concerns in the surrounding neighborhood, I've been there plenty of times and agree with the general consensus of boston residents and patient reviews that it doesn't measure up to its competition. Didn't say anything about the care just its appearance and cleanliness in general threw me off, as it did many others, nothing about the care and quality of its fantastic medical staff

Does anyone have any insight into the mysterious process by which UMass makes their way through their postinterview pile??
Any insight into why they wait so long (late April-May, according to what I've read) to reject people who (I'm assuming) were never chosen for review?Yes--each team is responsible for bringing their group of interviewees to the rest of the admissions committee. If they like your MMI reviews in combination with your application, you will be brought for review. At least that's what I remember from interview day.
So since they have started placing applicants on the waitlist, does that mean that any updates from here on out are destined to be waitlist/rejection emails??Any insight into why they wait so long (late April-May, according to what I've read) to reject people who (I'm assuming) were never chosen for review?

I'm still waiting as well!Does anyone know if they have reviewed March 10th interviewees yet? Has anyone from that date received a WL or acceptance email?
SameI am still waiting to hear as well. I am also a reapplicant.
for md or md/phd?Waitlisted today. Interviewed at the beginning of March
Waitlisted today. Interviewed in October
Thank you! Got it around 3 pm. I'm sure you'll hear soon. Looks like their reviewing methodology is randomWhen did you receive the email? And also, at this point, congrats! Fellow October here
It seems like they bounce all over the place with notifying interviewees. Are they letting people know in order of WL rank?
Optimism rising...feels so good!I just received notice that the waitlist for UMass is unranked and waitlisted candidates are reviewed as spaces open up.
For what it's worth (not much) I'm a current UMASS student, interviewed in September, and got accepted in late April. I was never waitlisted.

Is UMass reasonable with aid/scholarships? Their sticker price is shockingly high...

I'm assuming they hadn't already started waitlisting people at that point in your application year though?
I think they leave a few open spots through the cycle just to try catching the superstars.
memberncc1701 interviewed back in September (of their application cycle) though...
I just asked because I know a few years ago (maybe 3?) the adcom was really backed up (even more than usual 😛) and didn't release most acceptances until April/May, then started waitlisting people even later...
Second reviews? So have they already reviewed/contacted all the people they plan waitlisting/accepting? Hope not!I wonder if anyone's been accepted off the waitlist yet. I heard from a med student on Saturday that there should be movement soon as they are meeting to do second reviews on applicants.
Even if they have, it would be nice to know either way.Second reviews? So have they already reviewed/contacted all the people they plan waitlisting/accepting? Hope not!
