Sorry about that. Did you get a call as well? And sorry for being annoying but I've been in a plane this whole time.

So for those of us on the alternate list, are we supposed to compose a lengthy email detailing our interest in Miami and why we would like it or is it supposed to be short and sweet?

What does this mean?: In order to reserve your place in our class, you must write back and accept the position offered to you.

Is this binding or no?

Anyone else that interviewed early not receive a call or email yesterday or today?

Hello hello! I am interviewing MD/MPH on Oct 27th and 28th and decided to rent a car to go from the Miami campus to the regional one. Please PM me if you're interviewing these dates and are interesting in coming along and splitting the cost 🙂 Cheers!

Anyone else having troubling logging in to check their status?

Unable to log in for a few days now, refreshing doesn't work either and tried on multiple platforms. No call at 5pm on the 15th so assuming wait list, can anyone confirm if your status changes to wait list on the site? Or do you get an email?

ZillaFCH, I'd just recommend being patient. Maybe they haven't looked at your app yet and decided. New decisions should come out Oct. 22nd, so really you're just looking at a few days hopefully before hearing back! If you don't by then, I'd recommend contacting them!

I also never received a call or email on the 15th. My status has also not changed to a decision has been made and I interviewed on the first day. I'm just waiting until Nov. 5th and hoping for some good news.

I'd love to be in your guys' shoes than yaoigirl.
I got a decision on the 16th I think and that was "alternate list."

Maybe you guys haven't received a decision yet because you are due to be accepted come the next release date!

I saw the " Your Application has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine..." status this morning. I'm not sure when it changed, I check once a week or so, but I've been complete since 8/7. Hoping for an interview! MD only applicant, OOS.

Mine is oct 31st, they had a few nov and dec dates, i think even spring semester dates open, in a choose whichever you like fashion. you rank the 3 or 4 top preferences you have, but were very receptive to me rescheduling.

Does the status say "currently under review" until you get an interview or are rejected at the end of the interview season? I've been complete since 08/31, and I've had this status the whole time :l

Eventually it will change to this:
"Your Application has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Applicants will be invited to interview based upon their evaluation score from the Admissions Committee review. You will be contacted by email if you are selected for an interview. Interview invitations are extended between August and March. "

This just happened for me this week, and I was complete early August, so it seems to take a while. This status doesn't seem to have any implications as to whether you receive an interview or not.

That's reassuring. Thanks so much!

Also my status changed to "your application has been reviewed by the admissions committee. A final decision has not been made." I don't even ever remember being "under review" it changed so fast. I think my status may be a hold or preliminary reject.. So Its probably much better to be under review instead 🙂

Wow! Maybe you just applied way earlier than I did in the cycle, so there were fewer applicants to go through. When were you complete? My stats are under their averages, so I highly doubt I'm in a very good spot, haha.

I was complete in late August. Yeah, it was definitely weird. My status changed to that as soon as they processed my picture. Oh well. Good luck to you though!!

Ahh, gotcha. I've been rejected by a couple of schools already, so I don't want to get my hopes too high, haha. Thank you, and good luck to you, too!

Interviewed here recently and was absolutely blown away. The Miami Health campus is massive with really nice facilities and an abundance of research and shadowing opportunities. The DOCS and associated health fair trips were also unique and extremely appealing. Keeping my fingers crossed for good news!

Any words of wisdom you would like to impart for those of us yet to attend the interview day? 😀

Miami interviews a comparatively small percentage of applicants and they mentioned that your interviewer is one of the adcom members who scored your application, so they are clearly already very impressed with you if you're given an interview invite. The interview itself is very laid back and conversational, so nothing to stress over! Miami has an abundance of unique characteristics and opportunities and they are very good at stressing those and selling their program, so get ready for information overload (in a good way). Congratulations on your II and good luck!

Oh wow! That is impressive! My interview is tomorrow so I'm looking forward to this information overload. Thank you!

Ah, I'm so excited about this school! Can't wait for my November interview!

Anyone interviewing this friday with me? 🙂 Also how long of a turnaround time is there before you hear the results?

Interviewed this week, they said November 19.

I'm interviewing on Nov 7th. Anyone else?

Status changed to final decision has been made today. I'm anxious and nervous about what news Wednesday shall bring.

So I got an II but it won't let me sign up for an interview date on the application website. Did this happen to anyone else?

I was looking through last years thread for some clarification on Miami's acceptance / waitlist system that was discussed on interview day. I've copied excerpts from posts by a current medical student that were helpful as I thought you all may be interested as well. If you would like to read them in their entirety they are by @Leonora on p.22 of last years thread.

"I was talking with someone on the committee last week, and apparently everyone receives a 1-5 ranking after their interviews. Any 1s on the list are immediately accepted, and the rest often end up on the alternate list."

"Updating: chatted with my source again. Source confirms that although it's possible to get off the alternate list right now, it's pretty rare. The committee member with whom I was speaking says that they're only voting on newly-interviewed people right now, but since people sometimes are accepted off the alternate list, there must be some executive action/ list review going on. They expect the majority of movement to happen after May 15."

It is not totally rare to get off alternate list right now. It is quite possible.

Your sources are somewhat right, but a little off.

Right. That was not at all the system they described during the interview day. They said they take the top 20 on the list at each meeting. And it seems the points system is far from a 1-5 scale.
