Is listening to Mr. Probz - Waves (Extended Mix) on repeat an acceptable way to pass the time?

If not, I may need to see a psychiatrist.

Pitt has a wonderful psychiatry program. It's why I applied in the first place! 😀

But from my completely uninformed "I've been accepted to medical school, so I think I can weigh in on these things" perspective... I would say that's within the spectrum of normal. 🙂👍

Has anyone checked their statuses today? I had a wait list message on my status.

Is the tier mentioned anywhere on your portal? WL as well for me, but I imagine i'll be getting an auto-email, not something personalized.

No email for me yet - just happened to check it.

I have nothing about tier. Maybe they aren't doing that this year?

Waitlist... I expected this. How do we know which tier?

Accepted!!!

For those waitlisted, hang in there -- when I was there, my student host mentioned a bunch of his friends had gotten in that way, so there is decent movement I'd imagine.
Last year, 75% of the matriculated students come off WL per admission office. My interviewer said that although the immediate acceptance rate is low, but for students who really do have an interest in going to Pitt, they have over 50% chance getting accepted post interview.

Holy crap, accepted! I was frankly expecting the waitlist as I don't have a ton of research experience. Well, this sure makes things more interesting... 🙂

Woah nellie... stealth admissions release?

Accepted! Was not expecting this at all... I was confidently expecting a waitlist, which is why I've slacked off on getting the PTSP app complete. Congrats to all those accepted and good luck to those on the waitlist! The prospect of visiting Conflict Cafe again is very, very tempting.

Man, I must have really blown my interview to be one of the few straight up rejects. Which is surprising, because I thought I had my best interview of the whole season at Pitt. Though my student interviewer did advise me to talk less about my research interests w/r/t my interest in PittMed, which was also surprising because of how much they advertise themselves as a research center. Oh well.

From a quick glance at your MDapps, it looks like you're doing alright there, Bovary. Chin up. 🙂

Waitlisted as well. Does anybody know how many applicants they waitlist?

🙂 I know, it'll all be OK. I'm bummed because I was really envisioning myself at Pittsburgh — I expect to be rejected from Columbia, for example, but Pitt seemed both a good fit for me and also within reach.

Rejected.

Ha, it seems that those of us who had that early email yesterday about the portal change are the ones being rejected straight up.

Huge congratulations for everyone accepted! If any of you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me. I'd be happy to help!

For those waitlisted - Don't be too upset. I was a First Tier WLer last year. It sucks, but it all ended up OK. Last year, the tiers were listed on the portal. Maybe they're not doing tiering this year...

Hope to see you all at second look!

They do have tiers, and we will find out in the letters they mail out today.

Also, how many people are waitlisted, out of all who interviewed?

**** me, now I'm really starting to worry.

Must have REALLY rubbed someone the wrong way during the interview... 🙁

To those accepted: are you filling out the applicant information form and all that other stuff... or are you waiting for an official email?

There must be some sort of a mistake... because I was accepted! Congratulations to all my potential classmates (as of now) and best wishes to those of you who were waitlisted!

As for your question ProbablyAPenguin, I don't think we need to worry about that just yet. Take a deep breath and enjoy.

Waitlisted..not too worried though. Never know what each adcom is looking for..and with schools like Pitt they are sharing many of the same applicants as a lot of other top schools..which just means the wait continues!

When does movement usually begin with Pitt?

Last year it was around the end of March, though apparently the year before it was early March.

So. Much. Waiting..... I think this is one of the schools where there is a good amount of WL movement before the May 1st deadline (previously May 15th or whatever). I guess it might be time to send out some more love letters...

Yeah... but it's out of our hands. Too many outstanding candidates to worry about it. Our time will come...hopefully! (e.g. @tenniseagle92 and @ProbablyAPenguin are already contemplating withdrawing haha)

And like they say no one will ever know if you were accepted in January or May...as long as you are accepted!

Accepted as well! Very pumped but most likely will withdraw
+2, but I will still stem and stew on it for a little bit longer. Hang in there everyone!

I filled it out, and I do not believe it's binding.

So very true! Cheers to waiting in good company!
