Anyone know what we must do to save our spot in the class? According to the MSAR, there is a $100 deposit due two weeks after our acceptance. Should we wait until we receive an official acceptance letter via snail mail to worry about that?

Unless they changed the policy this year, the deposit is due after May 15. Just fill out the forms on the portal and you should be good.

Has anyone received notification as to whether or not they are first or second-tier on the waitlist?

Nope, not yet. Someone earlier said we'd find out via snail mail, but I don't know how they know that.

does anyone know how often M1's are given spots in the darragh street apartments? or how the 1 bedroom apartments are assigned?

Depends on how many upperclassmen keep their apartments and how many 4th years were in them, but I think MS1's usually make up a large portion of the Darragh tenants. You'll get more info on that in a few months. I'm sure some of the other current students have more insight into the timeline than I do.

P.S. You can find cheaper options that are still close to the school, if Darragh doesn't work out. The apartments are super convenient and I found myself sometimes wishing I had lived there (especially last month when I was working at the hospital across the street), but they're way overpriced for the size you get. Especially when you realize the joy of podcasting and never leave your apartment anyway 😛

Little late to the party and haven't been back on SDN for a while, but accepted here! Congrats to everyone! Is there any information regarding Second-look or will that come in March?

👍 Kudos to Pitt for sending out a full finaid email with list of required info. I hate having to hunt through outdated and (sometimes) contradictory instructions to find the required finaid forms.

Pitt sent me a snail mail rejection, which I got today, in addition to the email rejection last week.

-.-

No mention of scholarship or merit award in my acceptance packet. Though I'm still very happy, does this mean I'm SOL on those grounds? Thought I'd have a chance, being part of the initially accepted.

I called the fin aid a couple days ago and from them I heard there *might* be a delay this year in giving out merit award.

Called financial aid -- they said merit awards will not be disseminated until March or April :eyebrow:
Is this confirmed by the admission office? Last time I called the nice lady said she had to verify it since it wasn't the fin aid who controls merit awards

I apologize for my lack of precision. I spoke to the kind lady and then the financial aid administrator, both from Pitt Med admissions.

Why must there be more waiting 🙁. I <3 Pitt but many people including myself really need that info to start choosing a school.

Sorry dude. The deadline is always the federal tax deadline since that info is required to make the award letters. Take it up with the feds?

I see there's someone else as anxious as I am to know what Tier I am in.

+1 Unfortunately my letter is probably stuck in the snow storm somewhere between Pittsburgh and Madison just like my Amazon Prime delivery... 🙁

Anyone have an idea of how large these waitlist tiers are, # of applicants? Or % granted admission from tier 1 or 2?

Well I think it might still get to you before it gets to me in DC. But please post when you get it so I can level up my anxiety.

1) size of waitlist: no idea.

2) % granted admission from tier 1 or 2: I can tell you that ~2/3 of the class come from the waitlist. However, no idea of the % coming from each tier, because we do not know how many individuals are on the waitlists. Good chance of coming off from tier one, but not everybody from tier 1 gets in, while there are people from tier 2 that get in (albeit much less than from tier 1).

I will definitely post. Now if only my husband would come home with the mailbox key. My letter could be just feet away without me being able to read the contents of said letter. 🙄 Imagine my anxiety...

did you interview on 27-August?

First tier waitlist! Do any of you current students know how much of the first tier is eventually admitted?
I think when I interviewed they said over half of the first tier get an acceptance. But I could be mixing it up with somewhere else, anyone who was there more recently have a better memory?

So has no one received a letter about some merit scholarship with their acceptance?

Nada. As mentioned previously, I don't think they'll release such info until the spring? 🙁

Good luck!

Same here. No mentioning of any award. However, Pitt's need based scholarship programs are really pretty good.

oh man, I'm getting anxious that they also mailed these letters in the order of Tiers. So that Tier 1ers got theirs first. *nailbiting intensifies*
