Accepted!!!!! Can't believe it! Interviewed in Spokane Nov. 12. Re-applicant IR cgpa 3.7 sgpa 3.5 mcat 34. My Excom member called me today at 4:00. He said I would get an email late next week. Guess that's when the excom meeting is? I don't really get how those work. Overall, I think I am proof that they put huge emphasis on the interview.

Congrats! If this is true that's an extremely quick turnaround. I had a feeling the excom meeting was going to be relatively soon. Hopefully we'll all hear something next week!

Congratulations that is so great! How do you mean you are proof that they put a large emphasis on interviewing? I'm nervous now, wondering if I should've heard back already if I was accepted...
that's why I'm skeptical as well. It could just be their individual EXCOM's preference to give an informal call. I would guess that since no formal acceptances have been delivered yet we shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Sorry I didn't mean to make anyone worry. I agree that the mode of communication is based on the excom's preference. Also, I just meant that I don't think I had the best application or stats, so they must have liked my interview.

Your GPA and MCAT is definitely high enough and I would not consider this a subpar application at all.

Seriously, look at the graph of accepted students.

You are almost in the top right corner. Your MCAT score is in the 94th percentile.

Congratulations! Thats so awesome, such a quick turnaround!

Has anyone who interviewed in Seattle since the last rounds of decisions went out heard anyting?

The email that they sent us after the primary app was sent in is that secondary application materials are due December 1st. Since that is less than 2 weeks away, can I assume that they have stopped sending out secondaries?

I just received an e-mail from them saying that they have yet to review my preliminary application (verified end of August) and that they are granting a two week extension to complete the secondary if I receive one. I'm assuming this is the first year this has happened, and they must be having much higher volumes of applications than previous years? Can anyone shed some light on this, or has received the same e-mail?

My assumption is that the next EXCOM meeting will be next week if you look back at the past two years.

I am at a WWAMI panel right now (which is just a Q&A with first year UW students at WSU) , all the students are Idaho residents.

They have all said they heard by phone as far as acceptance, rejection, or waitlist. Those who were accepted heard within a day or two, or they heard several months later.

All have applied more than once (several applied three times). The average age is around 26. 1 person took the MCAT once, one took it twice, and four took the MCAT three times (range of 26-35).

All of them have amazing personal stories.

I also received the email indicating they are granting a two-week extension to complete the secondary if one is inevitably given. Did someone who hasn't heard anything regarding his or her application not get this email?

Wow. That's a really interesting demographic! Thanks for sharing. Also what is a WWAMI panel? Info sesh by current students?

Crazy 😱

And yep @turayza it's at WSU (the WWAMI site for Idaho residents).

I haven't, but I am also OOR if that makes a difference.

That is starting to become my story as an Idaho resident. 2nd time applying with a full year in between applications amd already a gap year before my first. I'll be 26 when I hear back after the interviews in January.

I am an OOS applicant/OOR as well. I wonder if getting this message is a good sign or a bad sign. The school confirmed they received my primary on September 30. When did you get the confirmation email chepchep? I'm thinking maybe differences in when we submitted our primaries maybe why you didn't receive it yet.

Not really what I expected. I guess it just goes to show that UW really likes older applicants with more life experiences. Pretty cool that all of them stuck with it taking multiple MCATs and applying multiple times. Had to feel pretty amazing when they got in. I don't know how they did it, I am barely surviving one application cycle.

Aug 27 for me. I'm thinking not getting this email is not good news haha...

They have a significantly higher number of OOR applicants this year, which is likely the cause of the delay. They also read each application really thoroughly, which is good for applicants but isn't helping their efficiency. I wouldn't worry, they hand out the majority of acceptances in the spring so you're not at a disadvantage from your application not being reviewed just yet.

Hahaha my interview day one of my fellow interviewees was a married career-changer with a very young daughter (daww, babies.). I was telling my SO about my interview day and mentioned this guy and he goes "aaand that one's accepted."
In all seriousness though I thought all my fellow interviewees were very impressive and super friendly/sociable... would love love to be classmates with these folks. Love me back UW 😛

My life would be so much simpler if you would just accept me already UW. I mean come on, I know you like me. Everyone saw the way you were looking at me at my interview. And I like you too, so lets get the flirting stage over with and move on to a deep and meaningful long term relationship.

UW will take you out to a nice seafood dinner and never call you again...

Does anyone know how does UW feel about activity updates/where can those be sent/submitted? Thanks!

Congratulations. I am happy for you! Looking at your MDapps page I completely agree with the admission committees decision... you made it easy for them 🙂

Aw, thank you. Such kind words 😳

Did you get the email message indicating they were still processing your application earlier this week @RelaxingALittle? When did you get an email verifying your application was received?

Holy. Cow. Acceptance call today 😱
Fastest turnaround ever (3 days?!) and so so so unbelievable. happy tears

When did you interview? I interviewed on Friday and I'm anxious because I don't think it went well :/

Is there a way to check the status of your application online?

Yeah: https://www.somas.washington.edu/uwappstatus.htm

First two letters of your first name, first two of last, then last 4 digits of your AMCAS number to log in. They haven't kept mine up to date though b/c I was offered an interview a month ago via email and it still says "You will be reviewed for an interview" lol

Umm Monday. But seriously I would not worry about it because it also depends on whether or not your EXCOM is available to make it to the discussion meeting, or maybe if they have time to get to everyone. Who knows how this process works right? Current students who came to the lunch were talking about how some of them had months of silence or multiple SUC emails but ultimately you really don't know what silence means. Also a lot of them said they came out of their interviews feeling terrible but look where they are now! Our tour guide said she cried in the bathroom after hers.
Also rejections come fast. My SO was rejected last year 2 weeks after his interview. No news is definitely not a bad sign.

I haven't even interviewed yet - but question for current UWSOM med students (WWAMI locations preferable):

How much are you taking in loans per year?

I currently have a $400+ rent and live pretty reasonably (within $1000 per month for everything and dinners/drinks out - Boise is cheap!). Assuming I budget the exact same way, what could you predict per year in loans? I don't expect to receive any money from parents.

Trying to get an idea of what kinda loans UW requires...200K for all other OOS

You should go to the UWSOM website and search "Financial Aid Budget." They have the budget for each year posted.

Praying for everyone who might hear back this week! Especially everyone who interviewed with me in Spokane 🙂
