Does anyone know how important the social is the day before interviews? I have relatively late class and the HSLC is pretty darn far off the beaten path...

not at all. it's super informal, for your benefit only type of thing. no one will track if you are there (or atleast they didn't as far as I know last year). it is set up so you can ask current (mostly MS1 and MS2) students about the school/madison/whatever without worrying about judgement of those on the admissions committee (they don't report to them or anything... I suppose if you did/said something TRULY disturbing they might report it).

I second what @minor.groove said! I thought it was fun to go just to start meeting the other applicants, so I skipped a meeting to go, but it wouldnt have been a huge deal if I didnt. And if you are an undergrad here you probably already know a few of the topics we will be discussing tonight (as far as like housing options and the city of Madison go) and if you have other questions on stuff like curriculum you could ask tomorrow, as there will be several opportunities to ask questions.

Thanks @kittykattat and @minor.groove ... I figured it would be more about the city itself, but figured I would check to make sure it didnt dive too deep into other areas

Wisconsin resident, submitted at midnight first day, no residency verification. This is week 6 😀

Quoting myself-verified this morning. Took 5 whole weeks and 2 days. Crossing my fingers for some good news now 😀

For all ya'll ISers:

How long was the turnaround from residency verification to II?

Based on the few ISers I've seen post that they got interviews, it looks like 5-9 days after their residency was verified they got an II. My residency was verified last week so I am hoping for an interview soon!

I think I was verified on a Friday, had an II the next Wednesday, and interviewed on Friday the week after.... So from verification to actually interviewing it was like 2 weeks

Rejected today. Kind of shocked about this one. IS. LizzyM 71. Let's hope MCW doesn't feel the same way.

I'm sorry guys!! I hope you both get better news elsewhere (and I'm sure you will!!)! Would you mind telling me when you had your residency verified? I'm just trying to gauge when my judgment day is coming.
Mine was verified a couple weeks ago. I think my other invites gave me a false impression that I would land one here. Looks like I'm not meant to study in this state, time to move on!

Yeah I had to send in some additional paperwork since I'm a dual citizen with Canada but I was verified on 9/16.

Sorry to hear about the rejections 🙁 has anyone else been put on hold? feeling kind of awkward over here...

Has anyone who is applying OOS received any news recently?

I'm applying OOS here. I was complete 7/16, put on hold for interview 9/10, and received an II today (wasn't expecting that at all after the hold!)

Awesome! Congrats!! Do you have ties to WI?

Thanks!! No ties to WI, very loose ties to the Midwest generally.
Good luck! I have very strong ties and have been complete for almost 2 months but have yet to hear anything - very nerve wracking but trying to stay patient and positive!

You too! It seems to me if you haven't heard anything it probably means they haven't gotten to your application yet - it sounds like most people get some communication (either a rejection, a hold, or an II) after the first pass-over. Keep hanging in there. 🙂

Rejected pre-interview. Went there for undergrad, IS, 3.5+, 32+, double major, published research, honors, leadership, service...

This one hurts the most.

I guess when you get hit by a train the only thing you can do is get back up.

Good luck all.

I feel you! It's ok life goes on. You're going to have to move! Get excited!

Sorry to hear that Nevets 🙁 You're right though, you gotta keep going. I saw on the MCW thread that you have an interview coming up, so don't let this get you down. I just looked it up on MSAR and 50% of ISers who interview at MCW end up matriculating, so you have a good chance of getting in there!

oh my gosh. I just got an ii. This is my dream school. I'm literally shaking I'm so happy!! Complete 9/18, Lizzy M of 67, IS

11/18 so it looks like I'll just miss you :-(. 1 million times good luck to you!

Congrats on the interviews! Does anyone know if UWM is responsive to "in the area" emails? I know that they do not receive updates.

Thanks! I'm guessing that they aren't. When they send out the IIs, they don't even give you a choice of dates, they just tell you a day and then you have to contact them if it doesn't work. That, combined with the fact that they don't take updates, would lead me to believe that they aren't responsive. Though I'm no expert...

When were your residencies verified if you don't mind me asking? The silence on my end from Madtown is killing me

When your residency gets verified, they then tell you your app is complete so my complete date (9/22) is when my residency was verified. I'm guessing it's the same for Ruby109

Same here. Terrible feeling. IS, went to UW for undergrad, worked for the university, 32+ mcat, leadership, service... What a bummer. Hoping for other places now! Good luck!

OOS applicant, LizzyM ~69, still total silence from UW. My application was complete back on 8/7. I'm a former Wisconsin resident. Knowing that they do send out rejections makes me think there might still be some hope for an II.

Does anyone have anything to share about the interview day?

Just FYI, whenever you say UWM 'round these parts it means UW-Milwaukee. We are either UW or UWSMPH. Just so you fit in when you get an interview 🙂

Ah, thanks! I really shouldn't have made that mistake considering I am from there and my whole entire family is there - but I grew up out of state!

I'm in the same boat, although I was complete back in July. Good luck!

Does anyone know if we are supposed to get a confirmation email after we send them an email to confirm our interview date? Also are we supposed to RSVP for that social the night before? Thanks in advance!
