2014-2015 Wright State University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Complete mid August and I haven't heard back yet. LizzyM ~69-70, IS applicant. Hoping to have the opportunity to interview here!
Applied at the same time with same stats, hopefully we both hear back soon! From last year's thread, it seems like they interviewed the majority of applicants after winter break.

been 4 weeks to the day since my interview. thought it went really well, but you never know... hoping the response is on the early side of that 4-6 weeks!
** sits nervously with fingers crossed**

Just got the acceptance e-mail!!! I'm so excited. Interviewed 11/5. It said there would be a packet in the mail to follow.

Now I just have to figure out what med school I want to go to ( a great problem to have)!

Congratulations, where else have you been accepted? Perhaps you will be my classmate at Boonshoft!

I've been accepted at OU-HCOM Cleveland as well... It would seem that Wright is the obvious choice, but I did really like Ohio U, and I would prefer to stay in cleveland if possible. Haven't gotten any other interviews yet though. Hoping for IIs from NEOMED, OSU, and Case.

I was accepted to OU-HCOM as well. I understand what you mean. You have to go where you feel best!

Interviewed yesterday (12/9). I was extremely impressed with Boonshoft. All of the students get along and seem genuinely happy. The SOM building is great, too. OOS but hoping they liked me 😀

The school is great!!! I absolutely love it. I am excited to be going there

So question. Do you generally get an email only when accepted? Apparently there was an address issue so my decision which was mailed out mid-November was never received, and since I never got an email I'm assuming it was not an acceptance. Thoughts?

I would just call the office and ask. I'd think they'd tell you. Good Luck!

I did, and they said they couldn't tell me, and that they could not send it in an email either. Not the most reassuring and overall kinda weird haha but I guess I'll find out next week so it is all good.

Thank you!

For those of you who have interviewed, do you mind sharing LizzyMs? Really hoping for an interview here!

I don't have a Lizzy M or whatever that is. However I have a 3.96 AMCAS GPA. A 4.0 at my university. My MCAT would be low to some. All I can say is comparing stats won't give you an idea of if you have a chance here. They are looking for specific candidates I feel who fit there mission.

I was accepted BTW!

I would say yes. I think you get email when accepted!

I received a "Happy Holidays" letter from admissions the other day. It had a nice handwritten note in the bottom corner. I keep saying this, but the personal touch is what continues to sell me on Boonshoft. I'm looking forward to starting next fall!

are they done with interviews? so quiet for my application :-\

I doubt it. One of my buddies interviewed in January/February of last year and was accepted.

I do not think we set a strict date on when to end interviews, it depends how the whole season has gone, but typically they do go until the spring.

I know I keep saying this on this thread but if you haven't heard anything it does not mean anything at this point. We are still in the process of going through applications. There is a very small group of people who sit and go through every part of every person's application and decide who will get an interview, it is not an automated process by any means, so as you can imagine with so many applicants this takes quite a long time. At BSOM we are very interested in the applicant as a whole, as well as recruiting people who we believe will "fit" with our school and continue to foster the type of laid back and supportive environment that makes Boonshoft unique. Reading through every experience, LOR, and essay is time consuming.

The point I am trying to make on this thread by saying this stuff is please do not be discouraged at this point if you have not heard from our school. Right now this should not be an indicator of anything to you. I do understand that the waiting game is frustrating and stressful but that is just the nature of this whole process because of the sheer volume of applicants.

Pick me, pick me!!! I want an interview!! :phantom:

I just received an II yesterday. Im IS and my application was complete at the end of August

Has anyone received an acceptance lately?

I interviewed 4.5 weeks ago now and was hoping to get an email end of last week. I know you only get an email if accepted so just wondering if I should stop checking...

Thanks!

I believe the time frame they usually give to hear back is 4-6 weeks and at this time I would definitely give it more like 6 weeks (if you heard in 4 consider yourself lucky!). The admissions committee reviews applications in the order that they were interviewed and they do not meet every week. Also the holidays puts a big dent in things since they will not meet for a couple of weeks in a row. The amount of time it takes for you to hear back is purely logistical and not indicative of any kind of decision they have made. Again, the waiting game sucks, I know, but for you guys who have been waiting barely a month I would be prepared to wait 2 more weeks.

Thanks Guys! My II was 11/19 - I'll keep holding out hope! And yes I figured they wouldn't meet for 2 weeks which is why I hoped I'd hear before Christmas since 6 weeks would be next Wednesday...but maybe my group won't hear for just over 6 weeks - like you said it's logistics.

I think I heard back in 5 weeks, and I was among the first interviews. My friend interviewed a week after me, and we received the acceptance email at the same time. Keep the faith; this is a long, drawn out process.

Did everyone get that Happy Holidays email? Should I be concerned that I am not receiving emails?

does anyone have any advice for being on the waiting list? I am not sure if its appropriate to send them maybe an update letter or letter from employer in near future? Any advice would be helpful!

In the past BSOM hasn't been very receptive of updates after the interview, basically because your position on the wait list at this point is set in stone. It won't hurt you but extra letters or info will most likely not even be seen by anyone on admissions. If you are unsure though you can always call and ask.

The good news is that although it can vary a good amount every year we usually take a good number of people off the wait list.

thank you for feedback that is very helpful, i'll just continue the waiting game haha

Hello everyone!

I am a current 4th year at Boonshoft, and I must say I have really enjoyed my time here. Boonshoft is a great school and will springboard you into any career you chose. I imagine that many of you are facing a difficult decision in selecting a medical school; all I can say is that Boonshoft is an excellent place with a collaborative and comfortable learning environment. For those still waiting to hear from admissions, hang tight- the process is fluid. Best of luck to all of you.

The reason I am posting is that I purchased a townhouse prior to starting at Boonshoft, and I am getting ready to put it on the market. Before dealing with realtors, I thought I would see if any future students are interested. It is a great place for students to live. There are several other students and residents in the neighborhood. It is close driving to campus as well as all hospitals. We are 1 mile from The Greene and not far from downtown.

The townhome itself is 2 beds, 2.5 baths, plus a den that I used as an office. It was built in 2006. There is a single car attached garage. The neighborhood is cinnamon ridge in Beavercreek, for anyone who wants to do some research on the area.

If anyone is interested, send me a private message. I can provide pricing, more details and pictures to anyone interested.

Once again, best of luck to all of you. For those who chose Boonshoft, you will have no regrets!

I interviewed 11/18 and I didnt find out that I was rejected until 12/8 but my parents kept the letter away from me until I finished finals smh

@f4reignbeauty, here is your snow!

Oooohh soo beautiful! 🙂 I wish I was there! Surprisingly, California just got snow last week!

Interviewed yesterday; I had an awesome experience and loved the school way more than I anticipated. If I am accepted, my decision of where to matriculate will be exponentially more difficult.

Anyone here received an interview that was complete in September?
