2015-2016 Case Western Reserve University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I heard that they'll be moving pretty slow at Case adm for the next couple of weeks, possibly due to many student interviewers having to prepare for their exams.

Oh...but how would that affect people who the admissions committee has already reviewed and made a decision about?

Haha okay I know I am obsessing over this way too much but I was looking through last year's thread. People who interviewed 10/10/14 got their acceptances in the second wave. They were reviewed on October 27th (one week after we were reviewed this year) and got their decisions on November 11th, 15 days later. So if the pattern holds, I bet we get our decisions next week. I'm putting my money on next Tuesday.

Hey, decided (after being torn for a longgg time) to withdraw from my II here. Seems like a great school but can't justify spending money on the flight when I'm already in at my state school. Hope one of you deserving kids gets it instead!

Someone asked about decisions on my interview day as people were finishing up for the day. Apparently they used to send decisions roughly every 2 weeks after the first group went out (prior year), but this year they combined more groups during their review which will push the decisions back a little depending on where you are in the group.

The admissions people told us about a month is the expected time to wait after your interview date (I was on the 14th) vs 2 weeks from last year. So maybe next week could be game since my date was toward the tail end of their big review.

Ah okay, thanks for the info! I hope since our group includes people from October 2nd, that we will hear on November 2nd since that will be a month for them 😛

Anyone else get rejected yesterday morning (UT) or was it just me?
Just me? Cool.

LM 71 Complete 8/25

Bye everyone and good luck!

No result here yet although I was complete a few weeks later than you.

Letters were sent 9/2 and still not marked as complete. Should I send an email or is this normal?

Definitely call, I would think you should have been marked complete by now.

Thanks for the response Lanny. Just wanted to make sure my neuroticism wasn't showing 😛

Any new bets for when to expect a decision? *sobs quietly in corner*

Yeah I guess my prediction that it'd be today was wrong. But I have a gut feeling that it will definitely be this week! Hopefully sooner rather than later.
Also I keep getting emails from Best Western and when I see the "Western" I freak out, only to be disappointed.

Placed on hold after interview. The letter was in the iApply portal (I did not receive a status update, just randomly checked). I'll likely withdraw soon since I've already gotten into a couple schools I liked a bit better. Good luck to everyone!

Also placed on hold after interview. Very disappointed 🙁

I'm sorry. 🙁 You seem like you'd make a great classmate, especially at a place like Case where that matters so much.

Mine hasn't updated yet, but I doubt I'll even get a hold...completely bombed the interview.

I was also placed on hold after interview 😕... really sad about this one as well. You were right about today being the day though.

*sigh* I really liked this school too. I truly saw myself coming here... crossing my fingers for a shot later in the cycle I guess.

Good luck to everyone else waiting!

They probably released the hold statuses first and since you didn't get one, I bet you got accepted 🙂

Nope, finally found it. Hold after interview. Nothing I wasn't expecting.

It seems like so many more people got accepted in the first two rounds last year...Like almost everyone who posted was posting an acceptance, and there was only a handful of holds. This year it seems like it's the opposite. What's going on?

So. How long should I wait before I send my desperate "I would literally give up a full scholarship to Harvard Medical School to come to Case" letter of intent?

Where in the portal did you find the hold letter?

It was indeed hiding lol. I was totally expecting a hold (actually a rejection). My student interview did not go well at all. It was a very tense interrogation/argument. I liked the school a lot, but that unfortunately soured my opinion beyond repair. Probably withdraw soon.

I think what I'm going to do is wait a bit. Hopefully in that time I might have an update or two to include (maybe a grant going through, poster presentation, publication, whatever) then kind of embed my interest to attend within the update.

Okay someone needs to post an acceptance so I can stop hoping that they mistakenly put everyone on hold and move on with my life.

No new tabs on portal, no nothing. Which I guess could as easily be rejection as acceptance, so hopes not up 😛

It doesnt seem like they make many acceptances. I wonder how successful hold applicants are in getting in, if anyone can comment. I got my hold status on the 14th and acceptances were made on the 15th in Oct

I bet it's an acceptance 😀 And I predicted that decisions would go out today so obviously I'm good with this kind of stuff!

Yeah but look at last year's thread, there were a TON of acceptances.

Well dang, my interview at case is tomorrow and after reading about everyone's hold status I'm definitely feeling the pressure now!

Haha, just relax and enjoy it. It's a great interview day, and the hospital is impressive as hell/fun to tour. Definitely take some time to explore on your own, too! And ABSOLUTELY sit in on small group while you're there!

I felt the exact same way about my student interview. I was incredibly frustrated with the way they acted- almost as if they were trying to prove something by grilling me. I've heard it said that students tend to be the most critical in their interview evaluations- again, what are you trying to prove? Do they not remember being in our shoes? Faculty was fantastic, however.

It certainly seems hit or miss. Which is frustrating because your acceptance hinges on who happens to be interviewing you, rather than who you are. Wish it was more standardized.

So I'm confused. Hold is not a waitlist. The waitlist gets formed of all the ppl on hold on April 30?

No, the waitlist gets formed from some people on hold. In April we will be informed whether we made the waitlist or not.
