2015-2016 Case Western Reserve University Application Thread

I mean technically if you're on hold that's worse off than being on the waitlist because the waitlist is an even smaller group than the hold group.

But there is no waitlist right now. You can't compare the two because they will never exist concurrently.

You know what I mean. And why does their existence at different timepoints mean I can't compare them? That's like saying you can't compare being in limbo post-interview to being accepted because they will never exist concurrently.

So for people on hold the only 2 options is rejection or wait list in April?

So I guess if I was put on hold for UT, the chances for CT are pretty low

You can compare the two, but one of them is irrelevant right now.
The waitlist is comprised of a subset of the hold group, so yeah...you can compare them and the waitlist is better. But since none of us can be on the waitlist yet, it's not like we're thinking "man, I only got a hold, not even waitlist!"

Yes, what I was trying to say 😛

Can anyone confirm if this is true for Case? I know a lot of schools review the applicants that are on hold every so often and offer acceptances sometimes.

Aww 🙁 Got hold after interview as well. Not completely surprised. Faculty interview went great, but my student interview not so much.

On hold here too. Interviewed Oct. 10. Something doesn't seem right here. Why is everyone on hold and we haven't gotten any email about that also.

Probably they roll each status out in waves or something.

Well at least someone should get accepted so this can make sense to me.

Congrats to those who got accepted and GL to everyone still in the running! Time to unsubscribe from this thread, maybe I'll talk to you guys again in April 😛

@Lannister: if you don't get accepted, I'll boycott applying here next cycle. :annoyed:

Aww haha. But it's okay. I really believe that everything happens for a reason, so I guess I am just not meant to go here. I'm very grateful that I have another acceptance and I'm sure I'll end up being very happy at that school 🙂

Accepted via email notification to check portal. OOS, interviewed 10/26.

First acceptance of the season, woo!

Wait, you interviewed 10/26 and got accepted already???? When did you get the email exactly? I didn't know they reviewed anyone after October 19th yet.

I got the email this morning; it was definitely an unexpected surprise! 🙂

hold. expected, but it still stings 🙁

Okay so I unfortunately have a brain that tends to focus on negatives... really intensely often times. I just got an effective reject at my top school (waitlist is basically getting the axe). I can't seem to keep my head up even with my acceptance to Case, although I absolutely LOVE this school.

Anyone more bright and sunshine-y have some positivity to throw my way?

Throughout this crazy process, it helps trying to remember that everything happens for a reason even if you don't know the ultimate purpose right now. Med school is a 2-way street and you should be happy that you love Case & Case loves you too! Also, it's very early in the cycle still. I've had lots of personal friends who were accepted off the wait list of many prestigious (top 10) schools in May, so all hope is not lost!

Thank you! Best of luck with your app here, I really hope you and @Lannister make it in 🙂

Watch the 90th percentile for verbal. My brother had all the stats and research, but a 9 on verbal, and didn't get an interview AT all for CCLM/CASE. Currently an M1 at U Of Michigan. They seem to be picky of us folks with unbalanced MCAT scores.

I have a 6 in verbal and I got an II  (I withdrew from here though)

congrats everyone...any info on what happens to people on pre-interview hold? :|

They re-evaluate you in April and may offer you a spot on the alternate list. Depending on how much movement there is and your alternate list ranking, you may be offered an acceptance after that time.

o. boo. where did you get this btw?

Oh no :sorry: I mean PRE-INTERVIEW hold. My bad. I should have specified. 😳

edit.. wait i did specify 😛

Ha... whoops. 😳

Sorry I have no idea what happens with a pre-interview hold for Case specifically. They'll likely re-evaluate you at some point and either offer an II or reject you. From the trends I've seen with most schools, not too many pre-interview holds result in IIs.

Hey guys, a quick question: I was offered to interview for both the UT and CT tracks, but I am not sure what the best way to schedule them is. UT only has dates in December (I don't think they made January available yet) and CT only has dates in January+. Should I try to get them back to back by calling the UT program and asking them for a date close to a CT interview? Would waiting until mid Jan be disadvantageous if I can go ahead and interview a month earlier? Or, should I do them separately?

Thanks!
